  • Publication number: 20100306141
Abstract: A method and system are provided for classifying data items such as a document based upon identification of element instances within the data item. A training set of classes is provided where each class is associated with one or more features indicative of accurate identification of an element instance within the data item. Upon the identification of the data item with the training set, a confidence factor is computed that the selected element instance is accurately identified. When a selected element instance has a low confidence factor, the associated features for the predicted class are changed by an annotator/expert so that the changed class definition of the new associated feature provides a higher confidence factor of accurate identification of element instances within the data item.

  • Publication number: 20100303281
Abstract: Systems and methods monitor jets in a color imaging device to identify and correct faulty jets without interrupting a print job. The relationship between the output of the imaging device and the sensor values of a sensor is characterized in a correspondence table. Thereafter, an image produced by the imaging device is measured by the sensor at multiple locations for a group of jets including jets each corresponding a different color of the imaging device color space. The measured output at each of the multiple locations is compared with two or more sets of predicted sensor outputs generated from the color coordinates used to produce the image at the corresponding location and the correspondence table, the set of predicted sensor outputs including at least one predicted sensor output generated with at least one jet set as faulty.

Abstract: A guided natural language interface, a method for guiding a user in specifying a color problem with a document image, and a set of templates for use in the interface and method are provided. The interface includes computer readable memory which stores a set of issue description templates, each template being configured for guiding a user in formulating a problem statement characterizing, in natural language, a problem related to color identified in an input document. A natural rendering engine receives information input by a user and/or information input from an associated problem detector, and instantiates one of the templates in response thereto. The natural language rendering engine is configured for presenting the problem statement to the user as it is refined and communicating information based on the refined problem statement to an associated problem corrector.

  • Publication number: 20100302594
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate real-time personalization of an electronic image by overlaying a text string on a planar surface of an object in the electronic image. A linear or affine transform is executed on a selected text string to position the text string in a reference rectangle or text box. A non-linear or projective transform is applied to the rectangular text box to project the box into a user-defined quadrilateral on the planar surface in the image. A page description language (PDL) file is generated and includes the transformed quadrilateral text box overlaid on the electronic image. At print-time, a database (e.g., a spreadsheet or the like) containing multiple text strings is read, once for each text string, and multiple images are printed. Each printed image has one of the text strings overlaid thereon, on the planar surface defined by the quadrilateral.
