  • Patent number: 7840063
Abstract: An image processing apparatus has an image input section, a color image processor, a monochrome image processor and an image synthesizer. The image input section inputs image data of an original image. The color image processor generates color image data by performing color image processing on the image data. The monochrome image processor generates monochrome image data by performing monochrome image processing on the image data. The image synthesizer generates synthesized image data by synthesizing the monochrome image data with the color image data. The apparatus also has a buffer that temporarily stores image data, a determination section that determines on the basis of the image data of the original image whether the original image is color or monochrome, and an output controller that controls an image output process. The output controller outputs output color or monochrome image data fetched from the buffer as determined to be appropriate.

  • Patent number: 7839540
Abstract: In a print server, when page setting is made, a spot color name is extracted from a comment in an image drawing command and image data or a code of a job on a page (page layout) unit basis and a list for a spot color name of each page is generated. After that, a color separating process and an RIP are performed on the page unit basis, raster data of each of colors C, M, Y, and K and corresponding raster data of a spot color name is generated, after that, on the basis of CMYK values designated by the spot color name, the raster data of the spot color is composed with the raster data of each of the colors C, M, Y, and K, and the resultant is output. In such a manner, an overprint of an object designated in a spot color can be reproduced accurately.

  • Patent number: 7840998
Abstract: A module installable in a machine includes a memory device attached thereto for storing electronic data associated with the module. The memory device allows an individual to verify the authenticity or inauthenticity of the module without having to install the module into the machine. The memory device includes a sensory signal output device (e.g., a visual, audible, or tactile output device) that provides a sensory signal indicating authenticity or inauthenticity of the module. To verify authenticity or inauthenticity of the module, the individual initiates a query signal, for example by activating a switch on the module or by using a handheld antenna to impart an electromagnetic field onto the CRUM, and checks for the sensory signal output by the CRUM. The sensory signal may be capable of communicating a visual or audible trademark associated with the module. Data stored in the CRUM may include anti-arbitrage variables associated with the module.
