Abstract: A system for efficiently boosting drive capability for high-voltage linear power amplification to supply transducers in a print head is provided. A linear power amplifier to drive the transducers in the print head includes a charge pump capacitor to boost the output voltage of the amplifier above the supply rail voltage. The amplifier can provide both positive and negative output pulses to drive the transducers. A distribution switch is used to distribute the output pulses among multiple transducers and a biasing circuit provides proper sequencing and timing signals to generate smooth output pulses. A method for driving a plurality of transducers in a print head using a charge pump capacitor is also provided.
Abstract: Disclosed are a sheet buffer module and a printing system incorporating the buffer module. The buffer module has parallel first and second sheet transport paths that extend in opposite directions across a frame. Sheet buffer paths connect the first sheet transport path to the second sheet transport path. In operation, a stream of sheets is fed by the first sheet transport path from a multi-color printing module to a monochrome printing module. During this process, selected sheets are diverted from the stream into the sheet buffer paths and held. After processing by the monochrome printing module, the stream is fed by the second sheet transport path back to the multi-color printing module for further processing and/or final output. During this process, the sheet buffer paths feed the buffered sheets into the second sheet transport path such that they are inserted at the proper locations back into the stream.
Abstract: A control device includes: a determination unit that determines a beginning original document to which a function that lays out a plurality of original documents onto a single sheet with predetermined number of original documents and forms an image is applied; a judgment unit that sequentially judges whether the original document is the object to be laid out onto a single sheet together with other original documents, starting with the beginning original document; an original document number determination unit that determines the number of original documents formed on a single sheet, that is within the predetermined number of original documents and does not make blank spaces, based on the number of original documents to which judgments by the judgment unit are done and judgment results of the judgment unit; and an image forming start unit that makes an image forming unit start to form the image based on the number of original documents determined by the original document number determination unit.

Abstract: Disclosed are a multi-sheet buffer module and a modular printing system incorporating the buffer module. The buffer module includes a primary sheet transport path that extends horizontally across a frame. Vertical buffer paths extend downward and upward from the primary sheet transport path. Each buffer path connects to a secondary sheet transport path, which provides a loop back connection to the primary sheet transport path. As a stream of sheets moves along the primary sheet transport path, sheets printed out of order will be selectively diverted into the sheet buffer paths. Then, at the proper moment, the sheet buffer paths will feed the buffered sheets into the secondary sheet transport path(s), which will transport them to the primary sheet transport path, such that they are inserted at the proper locations back into the stream of sheets.
