Publication number: 20030128219Abstract: The present invention provides for a pixel color map operator interface, incorporated into a computer system. Images are displayed on the screen monitor of a computer system, and in one embodiment the images represent machine components. The operator interacts with the computer system by selection of a desired image via a pointing device, which activates sensitive regions of the image based on the pixel color value. Upon selection and activation of the sensitive region, which is mapped to a program algorithm, an operator desired function, programmed into the application, is performed by the computer system. The pixel color map operator interface eliminates the need for geographic mapping of a single bitmap or the conglomeration of several bitmaps by basing selection and activation on the color value of a selected pixel.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2002Publication date: July 10, 2003Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Robert J. Publication number: 20030128256Abstract: An ink jet printer is disclosed which, only when ink is to be supplied, supplies ink from a main tank disposed outside a carriage and which can effect the supply of ink stably without the leakage of ink. When it is detected by an ink level sensor that the ink level in a second ink chamber of an ink tank has become lower than a predetermined position, pipes in ports are inserted respectively into slit valves provided in the second ink chamber. Then, by operating a pump, the air present in the second ink chamber is discharged by suction to increase a negative pressure in the second ink chamber, allowing ink to be supplied from a main tank into the second ink chamber. Thus, since the supply of ink is performed by a negative pressure, it is possible to prevent the leakage of ink from the portion where the pipe is inserted into the slit valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2003Publication date: July 10, 2003Applicant: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kazuyuki Oda, Ichiro Tomikawa, Atsumichi Imazeki, Fumihiko Ogasawara, Yumiko Namba, Jun Isozaki

Publication number: 20030128395Abstract: A method is provided for rendering a color image with a plurality of separations with a multi-level successive-filling halftoning process using a single screen for a plurality of separations. For a separation to be processed, first, from the possible multiple levels for the separation, the set of levels that would be used and the number of dots corresponding to the different levels are decided. These decisions are based on the input level for the separation and input levels for the prior process separations. The location of the dots to be printed for the different levels for the separation is then decided by using the halftone screen, while simultaneously taking into account the placement of printed dots for the prior separations. The selection is done so as to best disperse dots and minimize overlap.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2002Publication date: July 10, 2003Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Gaurav Sharma, Helen H. Publication number: 20030128895Abstract: A method of determining image skew in a scanned document includes scanning the image and determining on a pixel-by-pixel basis whether or not pixels are ON or OFF on scan lines and columns along both the fast and slow scan directions for a particular document rotation angle. Through one read of the image, image data is sampled simultaneously at a plurality of predetermined document rotation angles From the sampled data, the second order moment of the number of ON pixels is calculated as a function of document rotation angle for scan lines along both the fast and slow scan directions, yielding two independent skew angle estimates. Skew angle estimates corresponding to valid second order moment data sets are compared and combined to provide a resultant skew angle estimate for the document.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2002Publication date: July 10, 2003Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventor: Stuart A. Publication number: 20030128242Abstract: A method of displaying information within a three-dimensional workspace on a computer display includes partitioning the workspace into a plurality of layers, where each layer corresponds to a display depth relative to a user. At least one substantially opaque container object is displayed at a first display depth. The user is provided with a pointer operative to select objects within the three-dimensional workspace at a plurality of display depths. In response to the user selecting a container object, the opacity level of the selected container object is reduced in order to reveal at least one content object contained therein.
