Abstract: Parts made by additive manufacturing are often structural in nature, rather than having functional properties conveyed by a polymer or other component present therein. Printed parts having piezoelectric properties may be formed using compositions comprising a polymer material comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer, and a plurality of piezoelectric covalently bonded to the at least one thermoplastic polymer and dispersed in at least a portion of the polymer material. The compositions are extrudable and may be pre-formed into a form factor suitable for extrusion. Additive manufacturing processes using the compositions may comprise forming a printed part by depositing the compositions layer-by-layer.

Abstract: A deburring apparatus includes (among other components) a frame and an elongated flat element connected to the frame. Rollers are adapted to support and rotate a vacuum belt around the apparatus. A perforation device is positioned and adapted to make perforations in the vacuum belt as the vacuum belt is rotated by the rollers. Making the perforations in the vacuum belt causes debris to remain in at least one of the perforations. The elongated flat element is positioned to contact the debris in the perforations.

Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for securing confidential content of a document. The method includes receiving a print request to print the document. A user interface is provided to the user having a secure option, the secure option further includes a partial secure option to secure partial content of the document. Based on the selection of the partial secure option, a selection of a confidential area including the confidential content in the document is received. Based on the selection, one or more coordinates of the confidential area are calculated. Then, an infrared (IR) mark is embedded in the document. While embedding the IR mark, the one or more coordinates of the confidential area including the confidential content in the document is embedded. Finally, a printed document is output with the IR mark including the coordinates of the confidential area for later identification of the confidential content and/or use such as masking.
Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for handling drifting of colors in printing. The method includes receiving a document including the image for printing, the image includes one or more gray and non-gray portions. An input from a user to selectively adjust the color of the gray portions of the image is received. The gray portions of the image are identified. Then, color values associated with the identified gray portions of the image are determined. Based on the user input, the determined color values associated with the gray portions of the image are selectively adjusted, without affecting non-gray color portions of the image to generate an updated image. The updated image is printed and the printed image includes adjusted color for the gray portions of the image such that gray color in the printed image is consistent with gray color of the image in the document.

In embodiments, such a method comprises adding a first portion of a monomer emulsion comprising water, a monomer, an acidic monomer, a multifunctional monomer, and a first reactive surfactant to a reactive surfactant solution comprising water and a second reactive surfactant to form a reaction mixture, wherein the reactive surfactant solution does not comprise monomers other than the second reactive surfactant; adding a first portion of an initiator solution to the reaction mixture so that monomers undergo polymerization reactions to form resin seeds in the reaction mixture; adding a second portion of the monomer emulsion to the reaction mixture comprising the resin seeds; and adding a second portion of the initiator solution to the reaction mixture to form a latex comprising resin particles.
Abstract: Additive manufacturing processes, such as powder bed fusion of thermoplastic particulates, may be employed to form printed objects in a range of shapes. It is sometimes desirable to form conductive traces upon the surface of printed objects. Conductive traces and similar features may be introduced during additive manufacturing processes by incorporating a metal precursor in a thermoplastic printing composition, converting a portion of the metal precursor to discontinuous metal islands using laser irradiation, and performing electroless plating. Suitable printing compositions may comprise a plurality of thermoplastic particulates comprising a thermoplastic polymer, a metal precursor admixed with the thermoplastic polymer, and optionally a plurality of nanoparticles disposed upon an outer surface of each of the thermoplastic particulates, wherein the metal precursor is activatable to form metal islands upon exposure to laser irradiation. Melt emulsification may be used to form the thermoplastic particulates.

Abstract: User identification information is received through a user interface device. A processor device supplies the user identification information through an input/output device to an external computerized device to receive, in response, external authorization to use features of an apparatus. The user interface device outputs a menu having options to create a local account based on the external authorization and, in response, receives instructions to create a local account using the processor device. The local account is created based on the instructions being received using the processor device. The local account is stored in a memory device. After creation of the local account, the processor device generates local authorization to use the features of the apparatus based on the user identification information matching information in the local account stored in the memory device, without contacting the external computerized device for the external authorization.
