  • Publication number: 20220194088
Abstract: An implementation of the present teachings includes a resistor structure for measuring a level of a print material such as a liquid metal print material within a reservoir of a printer such as a magnetohydrodynamic printer. The resistor structure includes a first electrode and a second electrode that are physically and electrically separated from each other. When positioned within the reservoir, the liquid metal physically contacts the first electrode and the second electrode. An electrical resistance between the first and second electrodes changes depending on the level of the print material within the reservoir. As the level of the print material decreases, the electrical resistance between the first electrode and the second electrode increases. The electrical resistance can be measured and used to determine a level of the print material within the reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20220194082
Abstract: A method for operating a printer can include draining a print material from a printer, placing a sacrificial metal into the printer, ejecting the sacrificial metal from a nozzle of the printer, and cooling to printer to a temperature that is below a melting point of the print material and the sacrificial metal. The print material can be or include aluminum and the sacrificial metal can be or include tin. The print material can be drained from the printer when the print material is in molten form, for example, from about 600° C. to about 2000° C. The sacrificial metal can be ejected from the nozzle at a temperature above the melting point of the sacrificial metal but below the melting point of the print material, for example, below about 300° C. The method can reduce or eliminate cracking of various printer structures such as the nozzle during a shutdown or cooling of the printer.

  • Publication number: 20220193780
Abstract: An implementation of the present teachings includes inner shell for a printer, such as a liquid metal printer, that mitigates problems associated with the formation of dross. The inner shell can be installed in a reservoir of the printer during a printing process where, during the printing process, a dross can form on an interior sidewall of the inner shell. Subsequently, the inner shell can be removed and either cleaned or replaced. During printing, the inner shell can be raised and/or lowered, or otherwise repositioned, so that the dross forms over a larger surface area of the inner shell, and at a decreased thickness, compared to an inner shell that is not repositioned.

  • Publication number: 20220197576
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for transferring rights, to release a secure print job from one user to another user. The rights to release the secure print job can be transferred based on a request from a primary user i.e., the user who submits the secure print job or based on a request from a secondary user i.e., the user who wants to release the secure print job on behalf of the primary user. Based on the request from any user, a multi-function device transfers rights to release the secure print job from the primary user to the secondary user. Here, transferring rights includes changing ownership of the secure print job from the primary user to the secondary user. Upon successful changing the ownership, the secondary user releases the secure print job originally submitted by the primary user.

Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) printer includes an ejector and a coil wrapped at least partially around the ejector. The 3D printer also includes a power source configured to transmit voltage pulses to the coil. The 3D printer also includes a computing system configured to cause the power source to transmit the voltage pulses to the coil in intermittent bursts. The voltage pulses in each burst occur at a burst frequency from about 60 Hz to about 2000 Hz. The coil causes a drop of printing material to be jetted through a nozzle of the ejector in response to each voltage pulse. The drops generated in response to the voltage pulses in each burst land at substantially a same location in a horizontal plane.

  • Publication number: 20220185614
Abstract: A system for collating and stacking long cut retail edge marker strips exiting a roll fed high speed slitter/perforator/cutter apparatus includes a media collation apparatus that facilitates automated collation of the long retail edge marker strips by collecting them off a surface and through the use of a device of graduated stair configuration separately lifting the retail edge markers from the surface for downstream accumulation. Individual bundles of slit retail edge marker strips are moved in a cross-process direction on integrated shelves of the media collection apparatus by a connected pusher. This allows the bundles to be transferred through the cross-process move in separate bundles before being collated at the end of the move when the pusher retracts to drop the bundles onto a receiving platform.

  • Patent number: 11356800
Abstract: A method of estimating indoor location of an electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device will detect multiple Wi-Fi signals, each of which originates from a unique Wi-Fi access point in a building. For each of the signals, the system will determine an access point device identifier and a signal strength indicator, retrieve location coordinates for the access point; and various candidate constants to apply to a distance calculation for determining a distance from the electronic device to each of the access points. The system will repeat the distance calculation multiple times for each of the various constants and determine which constant minimizes a loss value. The system will identify a set of coordinates of the electronic device that are associated with the constant that minimizes the loss value, and then use the coordinates to estimate a location of the electronic device within the building.

  • Publication number: 20220173304
Abstract: An apparatus 10 for poling piezoelectric material includes a platen 22 which holds a sample 20 of piezoelectric material to be poled and a stage 30 to which the platen is mounted. The stage 30 is arranged to selectively move the platen 22 and thereby the sample 20 which the platen 22 holds. The platen 22 is movable by the stage 30 selectively between a first position and a second position. A corona source 40 generates a corona to which the sample 20 is exposed when the platen 22 is moved to the first position by the stage 30. An electrostatic voltmeter 60 having a probe 62 measures a surface potential of the sample 20 when the platen 22 is moved to the second position by the stage 30.

  • Patent number: 11347450
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for providing secure printing at a multi-function device. The method includes identifying whether a document received from a user requires secure printing. Then, the physical presence of the user and a user registered device near the multi-function device is detected. If both are present near the multi-function device, then printing of the document is initiated. Further, the presence of the user and a user registered device near the multi-function device is continuously tracked. Based on the presence of the user and the user registered device near the multi-function device, one of the following is performed—either continuing printing the document till completion and collection by the user or pausing printing the document when either the user or the user registered device is not detected near the multi-function device.

  • Patent number: 11347449
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for handling one or more requests received in a remote working environment. The method includes receiving at least one request: including a print request and a request to turn-off a multi-function device, the request is received from a computing device of a user. Based on the request, it is checked whether the computing device is remotely located by obtaining a location of the computing device using a pre-defined method in real-time such as GPS. Then, the obtained location of the computing device is compared with a location of the multi-function device. Based on the comparison, a corresponding message or an alert is presented to the user via a user interface, for an appropriate action. The user may submit the document as a secure print job. The user may check other non-remote users and may not turn-off the multi-function device when working remotely.
