  • Patent number: 11128782
Abstract: A method for detecting background color of a scanned document uses dynamic weights to adjust components of the L*a*b* color space. In accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, the L*a*b* values belonging to pixels within a block are applied to a series of thresholds. In response to the L*a*b* values meeting the thresholds, a given color pixel within the block is reclassified as being monochromatic. The weight values are dynamically updated based on at least one of the L*a*b* values of the given pixel. The thresholding is repeated for remaining pixels in the document. Using the classified pixels, an output document is generated where the background pixels are monochromatic. The output document is transmitted to a display device in communication with the server computer.

  • Publication number: 20210289084
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses receive, into a user interface, an instruction to combine multiple scanned pages into one or more n-up sheets. In response to receiving the instruction to combine multiple scanned pages, a resolution field is output from the user interface. A user-set resolution for the scanned pages on the n-up sheets is received into the resolution field. With this, the scanned pages are scanned at the user-set resolution using a scanner. A processor is used to combine the scanned pages together into the n-up sheets at the user-set resolution of the scanned pages resolution, and the processor outputs the n-up sheets in an electronic file.

  • Patent number: 11117386
Abstract: An inlet seal, an outlet seal, and a piston are connected to a shaft. The inlet seal seals an ink inlet of an ink reservoir. The outlet seal seals an ink outlet of the ink reservoir. Also, the piston is within a cylinder. The inlet seal, the outlet seal, and the piston all move with the shaft. A biasing member contacts the piston to bias the piston in a first direction. Pressurized air simultaneously provided to the cylinder and to the ink reservoir biases the piston in a second direction, opposite the first direction, and pressurizes ink within the ink reservoir. Moving the shaft in the first direction does not seal the ink inlet but does seal the ink outlet. Moving the shaft in the second direction seals the ink inlet but does not seal the ink outlet, thus allowing the pressurized ink out from the ink reservoir.

  • Patent number: 11117774
Abstract: A system for controlling curl in sheets passing beneath a camera includes applying a thin layer of high velocity air to a curved baffle positioned beneath the camera. The high velocity air layer, which will have a tendency to follow the curved baffle (Coanda effect), will divert sheets (Bernoulli effect) towards the curved baffle. By positioning the curved baffle along the media paper path and by applying a uniform air stream to it, a lower pressure area will be created. This will flatten the trajectory of the sheets and thereby remove curl before the sheets pass the camera.

  • Patent number: 11117325
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed to provide a guide for sand blasting a fiber-reinforced object. The proposed guide consist of three-dimensional (3D) features that will result in reflective ray-like protrusions that can be detected and displayed by Augmented Reality (AR) hardware including a head mounted display. The AR hardware determines a virtual object to be presented in a field of view, a position in the field of view, and a perspective of the virtual object in the field of view based on position information from the reflective ray-like protrusions. At least a portion of the sand blasting area is observable through the display and lens when the display is presenting the rendered virtual object.
