The 3D printer also includes a first movement device configured to move the tool in a first direction while the material is being extruded. The 3D printer also includes a first sensor configured to measure a first parameter of the first movement device as the first movement device moves the tool in the first direction.
Abstract: An apparatus changes the temperature of thermoplastic material in an extruder head to reduce the time for producing an object. The apparatus includes a cooling device located near the one or more nozzles of the extruder head to change the temperature of the thermoplastic material extruded by the extruder head. The apparatus cools the thermoplastic material to enhance the formation of exterior object features. A heater can also be positioned near the nozzle zone to heat the thermoplastic material to reduce the time for raising the viscosity of the thermoplastic material for forming interior regions of the object.

Abstract: An electronic system for identifying an article can include a printed memory having a plurality of contact pads electrically coupled to a plurality of landing pads positioned on a first side of a printed circuit board (PCB) substrate. The plurality of landing pads can be electrically coupled to a plurality of endless, concentric contact lines positioned on a second side of the PCB substrate through a plurality of vias that extend through a thickness of the PCB substrate and a plurality of traces that electrically couple the plurality of vias with the plurality of landing pads. To perform a memory operation on the printed memory, contact probes of a reader are physically and electrically contacted with the plurality of concentric contact lines. In some implementations, the memory operation can be performed on the printed memory irrespective of a rotational orientation of the printed memory relative to the reader.

Abstract: Methods, Apparatus, Devices and Systems herein load a firing distance into a distance counter of a printing device. The firing distance is the distance from the current position of a printhead of the printing device to a marking location on a substrate and the distance is calculated based on an angular encoder operatively associated with a roller used to transport a marking media to the printhead for marking. These devices and methods count the firing distance in angular distance increments as a function of the encoder angular position to correct for encoder roller runout using the distance counter, based on relative movement of the substrate and printhead. When the distance counter reaches the last discrete distance increment corrected for encoder roller runout of the firing distance, these devices and methods load the fractional remaining distance of the firing distance into a time counter of the printing device.
Abstract: According to aspects of the embodiments, there is provided process and apparatus to analyze imaging problems including but not limited to detecting defects of an imaging substrate useful in a Composite-Based Additive Manufacturing (CBAM) process. Data from the at least one imaging sensor may be used to: compensate for irregularities in a substrate deposited layer; compensate for irregularities in the printed layer, such as missing jet correction; reject a layer, the layer being scrapped and re-printed; pause the print job so that maintenance or service may be performed; or provide traceability data for proof-of-work, forensic, diagnostic, or other purposes. Depending on system architecture and design goals, the imaging sensor may be employed prior to or subsequent to the deposition of a printed layer.
Abstract: A method for executing a function on a saved job stored on a multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the method is executed by a processor and includes receiving a selection of the saved job stored on the MFD, presenting an option to print and at least one additional output function, receiving a selection of the at least one additional output function, and executing the output function on the saved job.
