Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a processor. The processor is configured to: accept, from a mobile terminal device carried by a user, identification information that enables identification of the user, positional information of the mobile terminal device, and an image forming instruction; generate sound authentication information for authenticating the accepted image forming instruction and cause an image forming apparatus that is present within a predetermined range of the accepted positional information to output a sound representing the sound authentication information; and cause the image forming apparatus to perform an image forming operation if the sound authentication information and authentication information that is input by using the mobile terminal device satisfy a predetermined relationship.
Abstract: An information processing device includes a computation unit that computes a similarity between character strings among plural character strings which express a content of electronic information and which are generated from the electronic information, and an association unit that associates a dissimilar character string that is not similar to another character string among the plural character strings with the electronic information as a representative character string that expresses the electronic information.

Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying and locating assets. Data can be transmitted at regular intervals from a client to a server for processing by the server and stored in a database associated with the server. Such data characterizes the behavior of a user with respect one or more assets that communicate electronically with the server. Based on the data in the database, an indication of the status of the asset (or assets) can be determined. This indication is then utilized to assist in identifying and/or locating the asset.

Abstract: Disclosed is a diagnostic method and system including the processing of historical event logs generated by one or more devices. According to an exemplary embodiment, a diagnostic system includes an event log acquisition module, an event classification module classifying event logs acquired, and a diagnostic module generating a labeled version of the historical event log including labels provided by the classification module. The event classification module is trained using supervised machine learning techniques.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for printing a security mark via a non-fluorescent toner is disclosed. For example, the method may be executed by a processor and includes receiving an electronic file of a security mark to be printed on a substrate, determining an amount of halftone coverage for a non-fluorescent toner based on a brightness of the substrate, converting the electronic file of the security mark into a printer description language with the amount of halftone coverage that is determined, and causing the security mark to be printed on the substrate.
Abstract: A cleaning device is provided with: a cleaning component that cleans waste toner from an image holder, the image holder holding, on a surface thereof, a toner image formed by an image forming component and moving in a circulating manner; and a waste toner conveying component that conveys the waste toner toward a waste toner storage unit. The cleaning device has a receiving opening through which waste powder recovered from the image forming component is received, and the waste powder received through the receiving opening is conveyed to the waste toner storage unit by being passed through inside the cleaning device.

Abstract: Alignment apparatuses include a frame and contact elements connected to the frame. The contact elements contact items that are to be transported in a processing direction relative to the frame. The contact elements are in permeant fixed positions relative to the frame, and do not move relative to the frame. Adjustable mounts are connected to the frame and move the frame in the processing direction and in a perpendicular cross-processing direction. A controller is electrically connected to the adjustable mounts, and the controller is adapted to control the adjustable mounts to simultaneously move the frame and all the contact elements in the cross-processing direction and the processing direction while rotating the frame. Methods laterally shift imaging on sheets that have had rotational correction performed by such alignment apparatuses.
