Abstract: A multi-function search box on a word page is provided to enable a user to enter a word. The multi-function search box includes a text input control to provide text input functionality. The text input control is capable of suggesting a complete word based on a partially entered word. A dropdown display area is provided in the multi-function search box to display a list of words, every word therein contextually related to the fully entered or partially entered word. Another dropdown display area is provided to display contextually related options for a selected word in the list of contextually related words.

Abstract: Techniques are provided which facilitate mobile applications displaying advertisements on a larger screen space without worrying about screen clutter or interference with application functionality. Motion events are triggered once a computerized device detects a threshold magnitude of tilt along a first, second, and/or third coordinate axis. A graphical display is presented to the user which includes at least one advertisement. Several embodiments of the graphical display include a three-dimensional object and full-screen display which are maintained so long as a magnitude of tilt of the computerized device is detected.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for automatically pre-delivering messages such as emails that satisfy a certain criteria. Upon a received email satisfying certain criteria conforming to a pattern, an appropriate rule is triggered which pre-delivers an email(s) to other appropriate inboxes. The pre-delivered emails are marked with a display flag and a time-to-live (TTL) flag. The display flag masks the pre-delivered email. The display flag results in the pre-delivered email being hidden until the sending user actually executes the send/forward action. At that time, the display flag is toggled so that the pre-delivered email is instantly displayed in the recipient's inbox. The TTL flag set enables pre-delivered emails to have a life-span, such that in cases where the user chooses not to forward/send the email, they auto-destruct after a period of time.

Abstract: A system may measure the virality of content items on a network. The virality may be measured for Internet content using indices. Indices may be generated that represent the share or news worthiness of content. An indexer may monitor the content items and generate a score which may be used to identify which content items are most likely to receive a user access request or referral from the remote server. A logic generator may display visual elements as graphical representations of the index score.

Abstract: To provide a shortened version of a link that conveys useful information about the link's associated content, embodiments of the invention generate a shortened version of the link that comprises meaningful information about the original link. For example, in some embodiments such information includes portions of the link itself, such as domain and/or path components of the link's address text, content to which the link points, such as the text of a web page or other document referenced by the link's address text, or a rating of the content to which the link points. Thus, rather than generating an essentially random link, embodiments of the invention adaptively generate the shortened link to take into account the information about the link. Consequently, a user viewing the adaptively-generated shortened link can determine useful information about the content to which the shortened link leads based on the text of the shortened link itself.

Abstract: Methods, computer products, and systems for selecting advertisements in response to an internet query are provided. The method provides for receiving an internet query having query terms, and retrieving and ranking a first set of advertisements using a query likelihood model. Sampling words are selected using pseudo-relevance feedback and translation models, the internet query, and the first set of ad materials. Sampling words are chosen from the words in the first set, and the pseudo-relevance feedback model is used to select word w in the distribution of words based on a probability that w generates query term q(p(q|w)). The translation model calculates p(q|w) based on a translation probability that w translates into q(t(q|w)). A second set of ad materials are retrieved and ranked using an expanded query which adds the selected sampling words to the original query. The second set of ad materials is presented to the user.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method that facilitate searching and/or browsing of images by clustering, or grouping, the images into a set of image clusters using facets, such as without limitation visual properties or visual characteristics, of the images, and representing each image cluster by a representative image selected for the image cluster. A map-reduce based probabilistic topic model may be used to identify one or more images belonging to each image cluster and update model parameters.

Abstract: Method and system for cross device notification (CDN) are provided. An incoming event is received at a first device associated with a user. The first device detects one or more active devices associated with the user other than the first device. Whether the user reacts to the incoming event is detected on the first device. Whether a CDN is needed is determined based on whether the one or more active devices are detected and/or whether the user reacts to the event within a predetermined time period. If a CDN is needed, the CDN is generated and transmitted to the one or more active devices.

Abstract: The present invention describes a system and method of managing digital content received from content providers and for facilitating access to the digital content to many subscribers. The method includes receiving from the content providers incoming feed files where each feed file contains information describing the content. The method determines if the feed files are approved by applying a template to the feed files and also receives request files from the subscribers where each request file contains search criteria. The method provides one or more answer files in response to the request files where each answer file identifies feed files that meet the search criteria of a corresponding request file. The answer files are used to access or permit access to digital content on the web. In addition, a graphical user interface is described to manage, edit, promote and delete the feed files provided to the system.

Abstract: A method for tailoring content in a web page is provided. There is a relationship between the source domain a user comes from and the behavior pattern of a user on a website. To predict the behavior patterns of a particular user coming from a particular source domain, first a large dataset is compiled from user logs. Second, session analysis is performed on the dataset to identify sessions, session characteristics, page view categories, and source categories. Third, sessions are clustered and analyzed to determine how the behavior changes according to a source category. Fourth, a mapping between source categories and behavior patterns is generated. When a user requests a page view from a source domain, if the source domain is mapped to a source category, then a tailored version of the page view is presented to the user based on the mapping between source categories and behavior patterns.

Abstract: Methods and systems for processing content from multiple content sources includes identifying a plurality of content sources for rendering content on a website. A plurality of content modules associated with the website, are identified. Each content module is configured to render content from each of the plurality of content sources. A rendering size of each of the content modules selected for rendering on the website, is identified. The content format for each of the plurality of content module is defined for the identified rendering size of each of the content modules. A selection of one of the plurality of content modules is received. The selection causes a reconfiguration of the rendering sizes of one or more of the plurality of content modules. The content format of the one or more of the plurality of content modules is adjusted based on the rendering sizes after the reconfiguration.

Abstract: Techniques are described to improve search results using a panel. A search engine deploys one or more network traffic monitors. Traffic monitors analyze network traffic and find HTTP requests made to search engines. When a search query is spotted, the traffic monitor records the sequence of user requests, including search engine, search terms, and sites visited. A sequence of queries where a user visits one search engine, enters a query, visits zero or more sites from the results listings, and visits a second search engine, enters a query and visits one or more websites and stops searching is used to determine whether to increase or decrease a relevance value between a search term and the sites visited.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method of providing context information. Context information is automatically retrieved by monitoring at least one application program executable on a computing system, so as to detect an event associated with the application program, identifying information corresponding to the detected event, and retrieving, automatically without user request, context information associated with the detected event.

Abstract: A delivery device according to the invention includes a delivering unit, which delivers control information to a terminal device that includes a display unit. The control information makes the terminal device to perform display control for controlling the display format of an advertising content having a bigger display size than size of the display unit. As a result, the delivery device according to the invention can enhance the advertisement effectiveness of the advertising content.

Abstract: Techniques for communicating particular information from a user to a touch screen device by way of a touch event is provided. Sensors that are operatively coupled to a sensing device sense an input from the user which conveys particular information. This input is then converted by the sensing device into another signal called the sensing device signal which is then transmitted from the sensing device to the user's skin. Then a second set of sensors that are operatively coupled to a touch device receive a user-touch signal that is transmitted from the user's body. The user-touch signal is based, at least in part on the sensing device signal. The touch device then decodes the user-touch signal to determine the location of the touch event on the touch device and sensing device signal embedded in the user-touch signal to extract the particular information related to the user.
