  • Patent number: 5267396
Abstract: A process for machining a lead of a plunger to be used in a variable fuel injection rate type in-line fuel injection pump includes machining a plunger blank to form a port hole and then hardening. After this, the plunger blank is additionally machined, while being chucked by a NC machine, to form a shallow hole overlapping the lower end portion of the port hole. The plunger body is then machined in the chucked state with the machining reference of the shallow hole to form a longitudinal groove and a lead.

  • Patent number: 5266014
Abstract: A prestroke adjustment mechanism for a fuel injection pump comprises a U-shaped lever provided on the outer surface of the pump housing for rotating a timing control rod of the injection pump and a rotation limit pin provided on the same outer surface for limiting the rotation of the U-shaped lever. The timing control rod is linked with a control sleeve on the pump plunger for adjusting the prestroke. By limiting the rotation of the U-shaped lever, the rotation limiting pin limits the height of the control sleeve for ensuring establishment between the top of the control sleeve and the bottom of the upper section of the plunger barrel of a gap for dissipating the force of the spill jet during fuel spill. As a result, the downward force of internal turbulence produced by the spill jet is dissipated, thereby preventing the control sleeve from slipping downward and ensuring stable and reliable prestroke adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5262775
Abstract: Where a vehicle deviates from a calculated optimal route, the system displays a message indicating the vehicle's deviation. The driver of the vehicle commands computation of a new optimum route. The system selects a new starting point from a point substantially ahead of the vehicle, recomputes the optimal route, and determines the route from the new starting point to the destination. The new starting point is far enough ahead of the vehicle to ensure that the route computation is completed before the vehicle reaches it. This prevents overrunning the new starting point before the calculation of a new optimum route is completed. Navigation guidance, computed for the new optimal route, is then displayed.

  • Patent number: 5247444
Abstract: A vehicle control system includes a sensor for detecting an operating condition of a vehicle, and a control device. When the output of the sensor is normal, the control device controls an actuator in accordance with the output of the sensor. When the output of the sensor exceeds a limit value and therefore becomes abnormal, the control device controls the actuator using backup data. As the backup data, auxiliary backup data is first used, and thereafter predetermined main backup data is used. The auxiliary backup data gradually varies from a value of the output of said sensor, obtained immediately before the output of the sensor exceeds the limit value, toward the main backup data, so that the auxiliary back data becomes closer to the main backup data.

  • Patent number: 5220227
Abstract: A rotor magnet of the type including a plurality of circumferentially arranged magnets of alternately opposite polarities, wherein each of the magnets has a magnetizing pattern such that the magnetic force is minimum at predetermined portions near opposite ends of the magnet and gradually increases from the predetermined portions toward the center of the magnet and also from the predetermined portions toward the opposite ends of the magnet. With this magnetizing pattern, the rotor magnet has a substantially sinusoidal waveform-like magnetic flux density distribution pattern when the motor is rotating. As a consequence, the magnetic polarity changes smoothly and the motor can, therefore, operate at a low operation noise.

  • Patent number: 5211340
Abstract: In a fuel injector, a plurality of pairs of first and second injection ports are formed in a distal end portion of a nozzle body, and are spaced from one another peripherally of the nozzle body. The angles of the first and second injection ports relative to an axis of the nozzle body is different from each other. The inner ends of the first injection ports are disposed at a valve seat, and the inner ends of the second injection ports are spaced from the inner ends of the first injection ports toward the distal end of the nozzle body in the axial direction of the nozzle body. Each pair of first and second injection ports have a substantially common outer end. At an initial stage of the lift of the needle valve, the injection of fuel from the first injection ports is effected preferentially due to a throttle effect between the abutment portion and the valve seat.

  • Patent number: 5208484
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle safety device includes a pair of acceleration sensing circuits. The outputs of the acceleration sensing circuits correspond to a deceleration of the vehicle in a direction of running of a vehicle, and are in opposite phase with each other. A differential calculation device effects calculation in accordance with the difference between the outputs of the acceleration sensing circuits, so as to cause noises, applied to the acceleration sensing circuits, to cancel each other, thereby preventing an inadvertent activation of the vehicle safety device due to such noises.
