  • Patent number: 11815428
Abstract: An apparatus and system are provided for detecting leaks in cooling tubing using sensor cabling. In the leak detection system, a leak detection cable is routed along the full length of the cooling tube. The leak detection cable and the cooling tubing are encased within a shrunken tube, which leaves such a small gap between the cooling tubing and the heat-shrunk tube that leakage is distributed within the gap about the outside of the cooling tubing by capillary action. The relative position of the detection cable above or below the cooling tubing is then irrelevant, since the capillary action may overcome the effect of gravity and distribute leakage from the bottom of the tubing to a detection cable at the top of the tubing.

  • Patent number: 11812579
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for locking rack-mounted electronic devices within a rack upon removal of one of the electronic devices from the rack. The apparatus includes a shaft rotatably connected to the rack and provided at each slot position with a set of paddles, including a locking paddle and a trigger paddle. With the rack populated with devices, the removal of one device from a slot causes a block attached to the device to urge against a trigger paddle, which rotates the shaft. As the shaft continues to rotate, with the motion of the block caused by the removal of the device, the locking paddle for each slot is rotated into a position such that an attempt to remove any of the other devices from the rack causes the associated block to abut the locking paddle, which does not yield.

  • Patent number: 11758684
Abstract: A method and system improve the cooling of computer power supply unit by eliminating a reverse flow of hot air caused by an imbalance in airflow between a power supply fan and a system fan. The method determines a correlation between a system fan speed and a heightened power supply fan speed that prevents the reverse flow of hot air into the power supply unit. During the operation of the power supply unit, the system fan speed is obtained and the heightened power supply fan speed is determined from the correlation. The power supply fan is then controlled using the heightened power supply fan speed setting.

  • Patent number: 11571067
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for ensuring the proper orientation of an electronic device within a rack slot. A constraint is added to one of a pair of rail assemblies and a corresponding constraint is added to the rack, the pair of constraints cooperating to allow the pair of rail assemblies to be installed only in the proper sides of the rack. Mounting holes are provided on the device and inner rails of the rail assemblies that allow the inner rail assemblies to be installed only on the proper sides of the device. A key and key slot combination is then provided in an inner rail and a middle rail of one rail assembly with the combination preventing the inner rail from being fully inserted into the incorrect middle rail. Thus, the correct orientation of the device is ensured by the pair of rail assemblies, the spacing of mounting holes in the device, and the rack constraint.

  • Patent number: 11445632
Abstract: Embodiments promote the maintenance of a designed flow of cooling air through a chassis during the servicing of one or more electronic components contained by the chassis. A top opening created by the removal of server chassis from a rack may be significantly reduced by internal lids that provide access to groups of components. Gaps created by the partial removal of groups of components may be significantly reduced by air dams attached to the components that inhibit the flow of air between the components. And the opening created by the removal of a circuit board may be significantly reduced by a flap configured to cover the opening upon removal of the circuit board. The various embodiments may be used individually or in combination to reduce openings in the chassis that may allow air to flow in paths that negatively affect the designed air flow.

  • Patent number: 11419226
Abstract: An interlock system is provided that limits the ability of a user or seismic event to dislodge or partially remove more than one chassis from a rack at any one time. Thus, embodiments reduce the potential for the rack to be toppled by the weight of too many chassis extending from the rack at the same time. The interlock system includes a dynamic rail with locking blocks that move to engage hooks on the rear of the chassis. A trigger at each chassis slot is depressed with installation of a chassis. Upon the removal of any chassis, the associated trigger extends and causes the dynamic rail to be pulled down into a locking position in which the locking blocks engage the hooks on the remaining chassis, which prevents their removal.
