In one aspect, a method includes identifying, via hardware processing circuitry, a template for a category of products, the template defining locations of attributes of products belonging to the category, identifying, via the hardware processing circuitry, common attributes of products of the category based on the template, averaging, via the hardware processing circuitry, corresponding pixel values across images representing the products having the common attributes, generating, via the hardware processing circuitry, a new product image representing a new product based on the averaged pixel values; and generating, via the hardware processing circuitry, a modified new product image by varying attributes of the new product based on the locations of the attributes defined by the template.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing webpage calls via multiple module responses are described. A system may receive, from a client device, a first call for module data associated with a set of webpage modules for presentation in a webpage. The system may subsequently transmit, to the client device based on receiving the first call, a first response including first module data associated with a first subset of the set of webpage modules. The first response may additionally include a token identifying the webpage. The server may additionally transmit, to the client device based on transmitting the first response, a second response including the token identifying the webpage and second module data associated with a second subset of the set of webpage modules that differs from the first subset of the set of webpage modules.

Abstract: Systems and methods for authenticating requests to use an Application Programming Interface (“API”) are described. In some embodiments, a request to use an API is issued from a client to a server. One or more credentials for a first-level authentication challenge are provided from the client to the server. Responsive to the server determining that the client deviates from an expected behavior based on comparing the request to use the API with a pattern of activity associated with the client, the client receives a second authentication challenge.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for creating and utilizing search indexes with different properties to provide efficient and flexible means for retrieving and ranking high-dimensional content. A first index and a second index are generated with a different sets of properties, which may include a permutation prefix length and a vector quantization scheme, and are each associated with a computational workload. Further, at least one index structure may be created with a posting list associated with a permutation prefix and a set of references, rather than only a permutation prefix, to balance out posting lists of variable lengths within the index. Another embodiment of the disclosure provides for expansion of search results at search time, rather than during indexing, by retrieving posting lists associated with shorter permutation prefix after an initial list is determined to have insufficient recall.

Abstract: Described herein is a system and method for performing ancillary activity. A device activity being performed by a user device of a user is detected. Attribute data associated with a plurality of attribute sources is accessed. A user preference indicating a preference for performing on a secondary user device a complementary activity corresponding to the device activity is inferred. Based on the inferred user preference, the secondary user device is identified according to a device status of the secondary user device, the device status indicating a device capability to perform the complementary activity. The complementary activity to be performed on the secondary user device is generated by analyzing at least one of the device activity, a device functionality of the secondary user device, and the user preference. Instructions to perform the complementary activity are transmitted to the secondary user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing warehousing services that utilize a machine learning model are provided. The system trains a machine learning model with training data comprising item attributes and transaction locations extracted from past transactions for each item category to identify a plurality of transaction zones where each item category has a highest probability for selling. Subsequently, the system receives a warehouse request to warehouse inventory in a remote location. At least one transaction zone is determined based on item attributes of the inventory by applying the trained machine learning model. Based on the determined at least one transaction zone, the system determines one or more warehouse spaces that satisfy a spacing requirement for the inventory and causes presentation of the warehouse recommendation. The warehouse recommendation can indicate the one or more warehouse spaces.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to transaction security techniques. In examples, a resource platform causes a set of executable verification instructions associated with an authorization processor to be executed by a user computing device. The verification instructions may be encrypted by the authorization processor for decryption by the user computing device. The verification instructions may generate verification information associated with the user computing device. In some instances, the verification information may be encrypted for decryption by the authorization processor. The encrypted verification instructions may be provided to the authorization processor (e.g., via the resource platform), such that the authorization processor may provide an indication to the resource platform as to whether the verification is verified.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments for facilitating automatic-guided image capturing and presentation. In some embodiments, the method includes capturing an image of an item, removing a background of the image frame, performing manual mask editing, generating an item listing based on the manually edited mask, inferring item information from the image frame and applying the inferred item information to an item listing.

Abstract: A method for automatic metadata tag identification for videos is described. Content features are extracted from a video into respective data structures. The extracted content features are from at least two different feature modalities. The respective data structures are encoded into a common data structure using an encoder of a recurrent neural network (RNN) model. The common data structure is decoded using a decoder of the RNN model to identify content platform metadata tags to be associated with the video on a social content platform. Decoding is based on group tag data for users of the social content platform that identifies groups of the users and corresponding group metadata tags of interest for the groups of users.

Abstract: According to example embodiments, an Image View Aggregator identifies a frontal view of an item within an image. The Image View Aggregator identifies at least one reflection view of the item within the image. Each reflection view of the item having been captured off a corresponding reflective physical surface. The Image View Aggregator extracts the frontal view of the item and each reflection view of the item from the image. The Image View Aggregator generates a representation of the item based at least on the extracted frontal view of the item and each extracted reflection view of the item.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for modifying images are presented. The system receives a user interface selection initiating an image capture and detects a first image capture parameter. The system identifies an object of interest within a field of view of an image capture device and identifies a set of object characteristics of the object of interest. The system generates a parameter notification indicating a suggested modification of the first image capture parameter based on one or more object characteristics of the set of object characteristics. The system causes presentation of the parameter notification at the image capture device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting types of generated prompts for further data from a user in a multi-turn interactive dialog. In one scenario, a processed sequence of user inputs and machine-generated prompts improves searches for the most relevant items available for purchase in an electronic marketplace. The number of prompts may be limited to a predetermined maximum value. Prompt generation is minimized by incorporating into a knowledge graph world knowledge that helps user intent inference. Prompt generation may be suppressed if a search indicates the reply to a prompt will not lead to any satisfactory search results. Prompts can provide suggestions for available search results that either meet all query constraints, or meet only some query constraints if a search indicates no search results are available that meet all query constraints. Prompts can provide suggested incisive reply phrasing likely to improve search results through an affirmation or negation reply.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for detecting a mission changes in a conversation. A user utterance from a user device is received. The user utterance is part of a conversation with an intelligent assistant. The conversation includes preceding user utterances in pursuit of a first mission. It is determined that the user utterance indicates a mission change from the first mission to a second mission based on an application of a machine-learned model to the user utterance and the preceding user utterances. The machine-learned model has been trained repeatedly with past utterances of other users over a time period, the determining based on a certainty of the indication satisfying a certainty threshold. Responsive to the determining that the user utterance indicates the mission change from the first mission to a second mission, a reply to the user utterance is generated to further the second mission rather than the first mission.

Abstract: Camera platform techniques are described. In an implementation, a plurality of digital images and data describing times, at which, the plurality of digital images are captured is received by a computing device. Objects of clothing are recognized from the digital images by the computing device using object recognition as part of machine learning. A user schedule is also received by the computing device that describes user appointments and times, at which, the appointments are scheduled. A user profile is generated by the computing device by training a model using machine learning based on the recognized objects of clothing, times at which corresponding digital images are captured, and the user schedule. From the user profile, a recommendation is generated by processing a subsequent user schedule using the model as part of machine learning by the computing device.

Abstract: A personalized delivery estimate system is described. A commercial transaction is generated between a seller and a buyer for an item in an online marketplace. Historical transactions of buyers and sellers in the online marketplace are stored in a storage device. A personalized delivery time estimate is computed for the buyer of the commercial transaction using seller information, buyer information, and item information with the historical transactions of buyers and sellers in the online marketplace.

Abstract: An augmented reality or virtual reality (AR/VR) device pairs with a companion device to augment input interfaces associated with an AR/VR application at the AR/VR device. In implementations, an AR/VR device determines a portion of a markup file that corresponds to an AR/VR scene of a plurality of AR/VR scenes in an AR/VR environment, and communicates the portion of the markup file to the companion device to cause the companion device to configure a companion user interface associated with initiating an action as part of the AR/VR scene. In response to receiving user input via the companion user interface, the companion device communicates the action to the AR/VR device to initiate the action. The AR/VR device receives input data from the companion device, and initiates the action for the AR/VR scene.

Abstract: A machine is configured to automatically order consumable items for an account. For example, the machine accesses image input associated with a consumable item. The image input is recorded by a camera associated with a client device. The machine identifies an account based on an identifier of the client device. The machine determines a level of consumption of the consumable item for the account based on the image input. The machine, based on the level of consumption, automatically places an order for the consumable item, for the account. The machine, in response to the automatic placing of the order, causes display of a notification describing the automatically placed order in a user interface of the client device. A selection of the notification describing the automatically placed order for the consumable item causes display of an automatically generated request to specify a schedule of future automatic orders for the consumable item.

Abstract: In the implementation of techniques for injecting faults by instrumentation code, a system identifies software and one or more fault configuration settings corresponding to faults for fault injection. Based on the fault configuration settings, the system then generates a modified version of the software code by generating instrumentation code via an agent and including the instrumentation code in the software code. The instrumentation code, when executed, is configured to simulate the faults having the fault configuration settings. Upon execution of the modified version of the software code including the instrumentation code by the system, the system simulates the faults as a fault injection. Based on the results of the fault injection, the system generates an outcome of the fault injection for display.

Abstract: Virtual environment arrangement and configuration techniques are described. In one example, virtualization techniques are employed to generate a virtual environment as implemented via a virtual reality platform by one or more computing devices. The virtual environment includes virtual stores arranged along virtual streets. Virtual digital content is included in the stores, such as to initiate conversion of a good or service represented by the content. Configuration of the virtual environment is based on user, provider, and/or machine learning inputs.

Abstract: A computer implemented method to present digital images may include storing a digital image in a database and applying a digital image processing technique to the digital image to identify a region of interest of the digital image. The method may also include storing region data that identifies the region of interest of the digital image in the database and receiving a request for information associated with the digital image from a digital device. In response to the request, the method may include providing the digital image and the region data for transmission to the digital device, the digital device configured to adjust a cropping view of the digital image based on the region data to display the region of interest of the digital image.

Abstract: Systems and methods of improving the functioning of a streaming platform system by managing database change stream offsets using a time series database are disclosed. In some example embodiments, a computer system retrieves an offset value from a plurality of offset values stored in a time series database, with the plurality of offset values being indexed in the time series database in time order, and the retrieved offset value being retrieved using a time parameter, and then the computer system transmits a data request to a stream-processing platform, with the data request comprising the retrieved offset value, and the data request being operable to retrieve a data record stored in association with the retrieved offset value in a storage layer of the stream-processing platform using the offset value.

Abstract: Storage space is reclaimed by cleaning and compacting data objects where data objects are stored by immutable storage. A storage area of which space needs to be reclaimed is identified. Active and stale data objects stored in a storage area are identified, and only active data objects are transferred to a shadow storage area from the storage area when recovering storage space. I/O operations can be fulfilled from the storage area and the shadow storage area. Compaction requests and I/O requests are throttled according to QOS parameters. Recovery of storage space does not cause a failure to meet performance requirements for any storage volume.

Abstract: A machine is configured to automatically generate listings for multiple items. For example, the machine receives, from a client device, two or more images and two or more descriptions. The two or more images depict two or more items. The two or more descriptions pertain to the two or more items. The machine matches one or more images of the two or more images to a description of the two or more descriptions. The one or more images depict an item of the two or more items. The description pertains to the item. The machine, based on the matching, generates a listing of the item. The listing includes the one or more images depicting the item, and the description pertaining to the item. The machine causes display of the listing of the item in a user interface.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for lot classification are disclosed. In one example, a classification system for identifying lot listings receives a description for a listing in a publication system, identifies a string in the listing, identifies a quantity word or digit in the string, and converts an identified quantity word into digit form. A normalized string is tokenized to produce tokens, the tokenizing of the normalized string including splitting the normalized string into a series of substrings using a sequence of delimiters. For each substring, an additional split is performed by separating any digit from any other adjacent character, unless that character is another digit, and maintaining an internal character order of each split substring to produce a flattened list of tokenized tokens.

Abstract: A visual search recommendation engine utilizes an image quality indication model for a visual search recommendation. Specifically, the visual search recommendation engine receives a search image as a search query at a search engine. The visual search recommendation engine provides the search image as an input into the image quality indication model, which is trained to output an image quality indication based on image aspects of the search image. A plurality of images are identified from an image corpus. The visual search recommendation engine determines an image similarity based on a comparison between the plurality of images from the image corpus and the search image. The image quality indication and the image similarity indicate a search query performance for the search image. A first image exceeding the search query performance is identified. The first image is provided for display at the search engine.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for using camera metadata for making recommendations are presented. At least one image file having camera metadata is received. The camera metadata of the at least one image file is analyzed to determine improvements to image capture aspects associated with the at least one image file. Feedback related to the improvements to the image capture aspects associated with the at least one image file is generated. In some embodiments, the feedback may be used to generate camera and other product upgrade recommendations.

Abstract: In accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure, search input is received from a first user device of a first user (e.g., a first mobile communication device). A location of a second user is determined (e.g., a location of a second mobile communication device). A search is performed using the search input and the location of the second user, and one or more search results are provided to the first user device based on the search. A purchase confirmation for an item included in the one or more search results is received, and pickup information is communicated to a second user device of the second user, enabling the second user to pick up the item from a merchant location.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a network-based crowd assisted query system that includes a client device in communication with an application server executing the crowd assisted query system over a network. For example, the crowd assisted query system may be or include a group of one or more server machines. Users of the crowd assisted query system are presented with a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to receive queries that include data objects, wherein the data objects include representations of unidentified items of interest to the user. The data objects may include media content, such as graphical images as well as audio data, and in some example embodiments may further include text data describing the unidentified items.

Abstract: In an example, a digital image comprising a representation of multiple physical objects is received at a client computer. The digital image is copied into a temporary canvas. The digital image is then analyzed to identify a plurality of potential object areas, each of the potential object areas having pixels with colors similar to the other pixels within the potential object area. A minimum bounding region for each of the identified potential object areas is identified, the minimum bounding region being a smallest region of a particular shape that bounds the corresponding potential object area. The pixels within a selected minimum bounding region are cropped from the digital image. The pixels within the selected minimum bounding region are then sent to an object recognition service on a server to identify an object represented by the pixels within the selected minimum bounding region.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating tokenized reputation scores are described. In one example, a service provider system receives data describing user activity associated with a service provider account and determines that the user activity is eligible for a reputation reward of reputation tokens. The service provider system initiates a calculation of the reputation reward based on the data describing the user activity. Further, the service provider system verifies a transfer of reputation tokens to a blockchain account address associated with the service provider account, where the reputation tokens are based on the reputation reward calculated. The service provider system generates a reputation score based on an amount of reputation tokens associated with the blockchain account address and generates an indication of the reputation score. The indication of the reputation score is displayed in relation to a representation of the service provider account.

Abstract: Understanding emojis in the context of online experiences is described. In at least some embodiments, text input is received and a vector representation of the text input is computed. Based on the vector representation, one or more emojis that correspond to the vector representation of the text input are ascertained and a response is formulated that includes at least one of the one or more emojis. In other embodiments, input from a client machine is received. The input includes at least one emoji. A computed vector representation of the emoji is used to look for vector representations of words or phrases that are close to the computed vector representation of the emoji. At least one of the words or phrases is selected and at least one task is performed using the selected word(s) or phrase(s).

Abstract: Digital content view control is described as leveraging a hierarchical structure of objects defined within the digital content to control how those objects are rendered in a user interface. In one example, a user input is received to display a view of objects within digital content displayed in a user interface. In response, a data query module is configured to fetch data describing a hierarchical structure of the digital content. From this, a z-order determination module determines a z-order of objects included with the digital content. An object view generation module is also configured to generate object views depicting the objects included in the digital content. The object views, once rendered, support an ability to view positioning of objects within the hierarchy.

Abstract: Various embodiments improve existing technologies by generating one or more user interface elements based at least in part on consumer demand of an item in various geographical regions. Such consumer demand can be computed in response to receiving an indication that a user needs to place an item in an inventory center. Some embodiments can use one or more machine learning models or other statistical models to predict consumer demand to select the particular inventory center. Some embodiments can additionally or alternatively rank each inventory center or recommend an inventory center based on the consumer demand and/or other factors, such as cost. All of this functionality not only improves upon the functionality of existing technologies, but improves the user experience and computing resource consumption relative to other technologies.

A context of a message that user is composing via a composition interface is determined based on one or more properties of the message. A suggested content item of the suggested content items are added in the message based at least in part on the one or more properties of the message.

Abstract: Methods and systems to automatically respond to a request for product information are described. In one embodiment, a data collection module may collect product data over a network, identify that the product data is related to a particular product, and store the product data and an association between the product data and the particular product in a database. An instant messaging engine may receive a request for the product data after the product data is stored in the database and an interpreter module may identify, in response to the request, the request to correspond to the particular product and retrieve the product data based on the association between the particular product and the product data. The instant messaging engine may also transmit, using an instant messaging protocol, a response to the request, the response including the product data.

Abstract: Disclosed is a tamper proof tag and accompanying method for verifying that a watch is authentic and has not been tampered with. The tamper proof tag, when affixed to the watch, ensures that the watch is authentic and prevents a user from tampering with the watch. The tamper proof tag also allows the watch to be worn while the tamper proof tag is affixed to watch and is minimally obstructive to the aesthetics of the watch. This provides a purchasing user with confidence that the watch is authentic, while also allowing the user to try on the watch without having to remove the tamper proof tag. The tamper proof tag also protects the seller from a user that may attempt to tamper with the watch after purchase. For example, the seller may condition returns for a sold watch on the tamper proof tag remaining affixed to the watch.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for a proactive customer support system are provided. In some example embodiments, outgoing communications from an application server to a client device are monitored for error messages, outgoing error messages are detected, an error type for an error message is determined, an issue ticket including the error message and the error type is generated, and instructions are transmitted that cause a customer service device to display the issue ticket. In some example embodiments, the system additionally assigns a priority score and ranks open error tickets based on their respective error messages. In some example embodiments, the system provides a help message to the client device based on the error message, receives an information request from the client device, determines a reply message based on the information request, and transmits instructions to the client device to display the reply message.
