Abstract: Charged-particle-beam (CPB) mapping projection-optical systems and adjustment methods for such systems are disclosed that can be performed quickly and accurately. In a typical system, an irradiation beam is emitted from a source, passes through an irradiation-optical system, and enters a Wien filter (“E×B”). Upon passing through the E×B, the irradiation beam passes through an objective-optical system and is incident on an object surface. Such impingement generates an observation beam that returns through the objective-optical system and the E×B in a different direction to a detector via an imaging-optical system. An adjustment-beam source emits an adjustment beam used for adjusting and aligning the position of, e.g., the object surface and/or the Wien's condition of the E×B. The adjustment beam can be off-axis relative to the objective-optical system. For such adjusting and aligning, fiducial marks (situated, e.g.

Abstract: A point diffraction interference measuring method comprises forming a substantially ideal spherical wave by using a point light source-generating unit 101, 102, allowing a light flux composed of the spherical wave to pass through a test sample 109, thereafter dividing the light flux into two light fluxes by using an optical path-dividing element 105, allowing one light flux of the divided light fluxes to pass through a pinhole 129 to covert the one light flux into a reference light beam which is a substantially ideal spherical wave, and detecting interference fringes generated by causing interference between the reference light beam and a measuring light beam which is the other light flux of the divided light fluxes. The wavefront aberration of the test sample can be measured by observing the interference fringes without being affected by the disturbance which would be otherwise caused by any system vibration or the like.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling the boiling temperature of a fluid within a heat pipe are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for controlling a temperature associated with a heat pipe that contains a fluid and has an evaporator end includes measuring the temperature associated with the heat pipe and determining when the temperature associated with the heat pipe is at a desired level. The method also includes changing a pressure within the heat pipe when it is determined that the temperature associated with the heat pipe is not at a desired level. Changing the pressure within the heat pipe causes the temperature associated with the heat pipe to change.

  • Publication number: 20040246348
Abstract: An electronic camera of the present invention has an image pickup part, an ambient light calorimetric part, an operation member, a colorimetric calculation part, and a white balance adjustment part. The image pickup part captures an optical image through a photo-taking lens to generate color image data. The ambient light colorimetric part measures color of ambient light without passing through the photo-taking lens. The operation member receives an instruction for the calorimetric timing of ambient light from a user. The calorimetric calculation part obtains the calorimetric result from the ambient light colorimetric part in synchronization with the colorimetric timing, and calculates and stores color gain bringing the colorimetric result near to achromatic color. The white balance adjustment part performs white balance adjustment of image data in accordance with the stored color gain. The structure of the electric camera like this allows preset white balance to be executed in freer timing.

Abstract: A color image sensor has a first, second, and third color component pixels. The third color component pixel includes more intensity information than the first and second color component pixels. A difference estimating section estimates difference in a signal level exerted on a pixel signal of the third color component pixel, using the pixel signal of a pixel peripheral to the third color component pixel. A correcting section corrects the pixel signal of the third color component pixel on the basis of the estimated difference. Accordingly, when the third color component is green in a Bayer array, a pixel signal of a green pixel in a row of red pixels becomes equal to the pixel signal of a green pixel in a row of blue pixels. Therefore, line crawling can be suppressed without smoothing an image.

Abstract: The preparation apparatus 4 determines the target distribution of the amount of polishing on the basis of the film thickness of the wafer 2 measured by the measuring apparatus 3. The preparation apparatus 4 assumes a control program for the purpose of controlling the polishing apparatus 1, and predicts the distribution of the amount of polishing that is obtained after the wafer 2 is polished by the polishing apparatus 1 in accordance with the assumed control program. In this case, the amount of polishing in individual partial regions of the polished surface of the wafer 2 is predicted using an indicator that indicates the height distribution of the polishing surface of the polishing pad 14 (when no pressure is applied to this polishing pad) as one parameter. The preparation apparatus 4 judges the acceptability of the assumed control program by comparing the predicted distribution of the amount of polishing and the target distribution of the amount of polishing.

Abstract: A flash control device has selectable two light emission modes. The first light emission mode causes a remote flash part to perform a light emission with a main light emission of a master flash part. The second light emission mode causes a remote flash part to perform a light emission with a pulse light emission (communication light emission) of the master flash part. Light emission indication of the communication light emission is transmitted at a timing preceding the main light emission by a predetermined wait time period. When the main light emission is performed within a predetermined light-emission start time period after the shutter is released, the flash control device automatically selects the first light emission mode, and selects the second light emission mode otherwise. Accordingly, when performing a rear synchronous photographing operation, the remote flash part can be effectively prevented from mistakenly performing a light emission.

Abstract: A CPU calculates integrating values of image-capturing signals in band 1 obtained by removing a frequency component equal to or lower than a first cutoff frequency from an image-capturing signal output from an image-capturing element through a band pass filter and integrating values of an image-capturing signal in band 2 obtained by removing a frequency component equal to or lower than a second cutoff frequency through a band pass filter, each in correspondence to one of a plurality of lens positions. The CPU then calculates focal point evaluation values by using these integrating values in correspondence to the individual bands. In addition, when the largest evaluation value in band 1 is judged to correspond to the closeup end position of the lens, the CPU makes a decision as to whether or not a focus match is achieved at the closeup end.

Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a connector that is directly connectable to a bus of an information processing apparatus that is separate from the imaging apparatus. This enables the set-up of the various parameters of the imaging apparatus to be performed rapidly while the imaging apparatus is directly electrically connected to the bus of the information processing apparatus, which can be, for example, a personal computer. The connector is coupled to a controller of the imaging apparatus. The imaging apparatus can also include a photographic lens and a photoelectric converter arranged relative to the photographic lens to receive light focused by the photographic lens. The photoelectric converter outputs an image signal of an object based on the image formed by the photographic lens. The controller is coupled to the photoelectric converter to control the imaging apparatus. According to one embodiment, the connector is a Personal Computer Memory Card International Association-conforming connection terminal.

Abstract: An optical device for a photolithography apparatus comprises a lens formed of a fluoride crystal material, a holder holding the lens, and a pressing member attached to the holder and pressing the lens to generate a stress in the lens. The stress can be generated in the lens by pressing the lens in a specified orientation with the pressing member to reduce the birefringence of the lens. When the lens is composed of a calcium fluoride crystal, the maximum value of the birefringence amount with respect to a light beam having a wavelength of about 157 nm can be made not more than 2.0 nm/cm within an effective aperture (light-transmitting area) of the lens, or the maximum value of the birefringence amount with respect to a light beam having a wavelength of about 193 nm can be made not more than 1.0 nm/cm within the effective aperture of the lens.

Abstract: When a reticle stage capable of moving while holding a reticle is at a predetermined unloading position, an unloading arm performs unloading of a reticle. Also, the instant or immediately after the reticle is separated from the reticle stage by the unloading arm, the reticle stage is moved to a predetermined loading position where a reticle is loaded onto the reticle stage by a loading arm. This allows the reticle to be loaded onto the reticle stage before the unloading arm completely withdraws from the unloading position, which reduces the downtime between the retile unloading and the reticle loading. Accordingly, the throughput of the exposure apparatus can be improved, since the time required for reticle exchange is reduced.
