Patent number: 4461003Abstract: In a microcomputer system arranged to operate with electrical power from a battery installed on a vehicle, the voltage of the power is detected to see whether it is below a predetermined value or not. When the voltage is below the predetermined value, a voltage detector produces an output signal which will be fed to a switching circuit formed by a D-type flip-flop. The D-type flip-flop is also responsive to a read instruction signal applied from the central processing unit of the microcomputer to a nonvolatile random access memory (RAM) thereof which is supplied with power from the battery all the time. With this arrangement, when voltage drop or sag is detected, the RAM is put in stand-by condition in which reading and writing operations are inhibited. In this stand-by condition of the RAM a central processing unit (CPU) of the microcomputer system is capable of operating as long as the power voltage is above the minimum operating voltage of the CPU.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1981Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventor:

Patent number: 4371816Abstract: A control circuit for an ultrasonic dental scaler, comprising a transducer driven by a frequency-controlled oscillator, is disclosed. The control circuit is operable for continuously regulating the oscillator frequency at substantially the same value as the resonant frequency of the transducer with a dental tool attached to it and for controlling the mechanical power output of the transducer. The transducer can be drivingly connected to a work tool for transmitting mechanical energy thereto. The regulation of the oscillator frequency is accomplished by simultaneously applied control signals derived from the current passing through the transducer and from the voltage across the transducer, to compensate for supply voltage variations. Moreover, the mechanical power output of the transducer is controlled such that it is reduced whenever the contact pressure of the work tool exceeds a predetermined maximum value.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1976Date of Patent: February 1, 1983Inventor: Alfred Wieser

Patent number: 4356066Abstract: Multi-layer magnetic thin film disks comprising a synthetic resin layer on an aluminum-containing substrate and an overlying metallic magnetic layer, are liable to have pin holes in the synthetic resin layer caused by galvanic corrosion of the aluminum in the substrate. The pin holes are passivated by aluminum oxide produced therein by anodically oxidizing the aluminum of the substrate in an electrolytic bath, the electric voltage of which is well below the normal passivation voltage for aluminum.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1981Date of Patent: October 26, 1982Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Gerhard E. Patent number: 4198236Abstract: A lithographic printing plate is prepared from a layer of a photopolymerizable composition comprising an oleophilic macromolecular organic binder and a leachable hydrophilic ethylenically unsaturated compound by exposing the layer and then leaching the compound from the unexposed areas by treating with a suitable developing solvent, preferably water, producing an oleophilic surface. A similar plate may be prepared from a composition containing a hydrophilic binder and oleophilic leachable compound by imagewise exposure and solvent leaching producing an oleophilic surface in exposed areas and a hydrophilic surface in unexposed areas.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1978Date of Patent: April 15, 1980Assignee: E.
