  • Patent number: 9307504
Abstract: A power control scheme for an enhanced Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) is disclosed. In a first embodiment, when an uplink grant is configured for accumulation commands, the wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) combines the accumulation commands received in both the scheduling grant and the transmit power control physical downlink control channel. In a second embodiment, when an uplink grant is configured for absolute commands, the WTRU resets the accumulation control function immediately after receiving each absolute transmit power control command and then combines the absolute power control with the accumulation power control.

  • Patent number: 9307477
Abstract: A networking device includes a tunneling module, a mobility agent module, and a wireless network interface that establishes a wireless link with a wireless client terminal. The tunneling module establishes first and second tunnels with first and second local mobility anchors, respectively. The first and second local mobility anchors are associated with first and second packet data networks, respectively. The mobility agent module stores a mapping of a plurality of addresses respectively assigned to local mobility anchors. The mapping maps a first address to the first local mobility anchor and a second address to the second local mobility anchor. In response to receiving a first packet from the wireless client terminal, the mobility agent module identifies, based on a source address of the first packet, a selected local mobility anchor from the mapping. The tunneling module tunnels the first packet from the networking device to the selected local mobility anchor.

  • Patent number: 9288024
Abstract: Methods, base stations and access terminals for uplink signalling are provided. Resource request channel characteristics such as location in time-frequency, sequence, time slot, are assigned to each access terminal to distinguish their resource requests from the resource requests of other access terminals. Access terminals make requests using a resource request on a resource request channel having the assigned characteristics. The base station can then determine which access terminal transmitted 0 the resource request based on the resource request channel characteristics of the resource request channel upon which the resource>request was received. The base station then transmits a response to the request which may for example be a new resource allocation, a default allocation or a renewal of a previous allocation.

  • Patent number: 9288719
Abstract: Systems and methods for link adaptation for a multi-hop route in a wireless mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a wireless mesh network includes network nodes in a route through the wireless mesh network. The network nodes determine a bottleneck information flow rate for the route based on backward propagation of information indicative of a tentative bottleneck information flow rate for the route from an ending network node to a starting network node through one or more intermediate network nodes. A target information flow rate for the route that is less than or equal to the bottleneck information flow rate for the route is determined. A Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) and, in some embodiments, a transmission mode is determined for each network node in the route other than the ending network node based on forward propagation of information indicative of the target information flow rate for the route.

  • Patent number: 9277460
Abstract: User Equipment (UE) receiving non-voice packet switched service in an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestial Radio Access Network (eUTRAN) cell undergoes handover to a circuit switched GSM/Edge Radio Access Network (GERAN)/UTRAN cell in response to a requirement for voice service. The voice service is established in the circuit switched domain of a GERAN/UTRAN cell to ensure service continuity regardless of UE mobility that would otherwise not be possible if the voice service was established in the eUTRAN cell. A Gs-like interface between a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) of the CS Core Network and the Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the Evolved Packet Core provides an interface for page requests and location update procedures to be performed.

  • Patent number: 9237509
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining that a maximum number of IP sessions have been established are provided. There are instances when the mobile device transmits a request to the wireless network. According to an aspect, in the event that the maximum number of IP sessions is already established for the mobile device, the wireless network transmits a response indicating that the request cannot be fulfilled. The mobile device determines based on the response that the maximum number of IP sessions is already established, which allows the mobile device to determine the maximum number of IP sessions that can be supported so that IP sessions can be managed accordingly.

  • Patent number: 9232448
Abstract: An automated neighbor discovery by a base station with the assistance of an access terminal are disclosed. An exemplary method includes receiving a first message from an access terminal based on detecting an identification signal by the access terminal from the first base station in a communication system. Determination whether the first base station is a known base station is then made. If the first base station is not known, a second message is transmitted to the access terminal requesting a network identification of the first base station. A third message from the access terminal is received in response to the second message including the requested network identification. A request for identification data is sent by the second base station to the first base station via a network link based on the network identification. Corresponding apparatus and other exemplary methods are also disclosed.
