  • Patent number: 9203581
Abstract: In a radio communication system (100, 200) using a channel divided into a plurality of time slots, a control signal is transmitted in each time slot and a data signal is transmitted intermittently using a subset of the time slots. The control signal includes a portion which is a predetermined signal, such as a pilot signal, and one or more bits constituting a power control command. The format of the control signal is adapted according to whether or not data is transmitted in the same time slot. When data is not being transmitted, the proportion of the control signal which constitutes a power control command is increased and the energy of the control signal is reduced, at least by reducing the energy of the predetermined signal portion.

  • Patent number: 9184899
Abstract: In a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system, downlink and uplink communications share the same bandwidth but occupy different subframes. When the downlink has more subframes than the uplink, special treatment on user equipment (UE) ACK/NACK feedback is needed. One uplink may need to ACK multiple downlink subframes. A downlink association without unnecessary ACK/NACK resources sets accounts for subframes for which ACK feedback is not desired.

  • Patent number: 9158629
Abstract: A method of managing bandwidth usage among a plurality of client devices is provided. A request is received at a first device from a second device. The request is to transfer a file between the first device and the second device and includes an identifier of the second device. A client group associated with the second device is determined based on the identifier and used to select a bandwidth usage policy. A data transfer rate for transferring the file between the first device and the second device is determined based on the selected bandwidth usage policy and a bandwidth usage at the first device associated with a plurality of devices. A number of bytes to transfer is determined based on the determined data transfer rate and a time period. A response, which includes the determined number of bytes and the time period, is sent to the second device.

  • Patent number: 9143296
Abstract: Methods, base stations and access terminals for uplink signalling are provided. Resource request channel characteristics such as location in time-frequency, sequence, time slot, are assigned to each access terminal to distinguish their resource requests from the resource requests of other access terminals. Access terminals make requests using a resource request on a resource request channel having the assigned characteristics. The base station can then determine which access terminal transmitted 0 the resource request based on the resource request channel characteristics of the resource request channel upon which the resource>request was received. The base station then transmits a response to the request which may for example be a new resource allocation, a default allocation or a renewal of a previous allocation.
