  • Patent number: 8526353
Abstract: VoIP packets as many as the number transmittable within a time period equal to a window T1 minus a window T2 are transmitted to a radio IP network 10A in a case where the bandwidth of the radio IP network 10A is determined to be of a size not capable of transferring VoIP packets within a predetermined delay time period. In addition, a remaining number of VoIP packets excluding the number of VoIP packets transmittable within the time period equal to the window T1 minus the window T2 are transmitted to a radio IP network 10B.

  • Patent number: 8520631
Abstract: A mechanism for decreasing the latency in an IP address assignment process for mobile systems using IP as network layer protocol is described. The proposed system is aimed at supporting seamless hand-offs for real-time applications like VOIP. A set of optimized messages is defined to eliminate the need for exchanging long DHCP messages to acquire an IP address. The mechanism involves splitting the IP address assignment functionality into two parts, with the base station being responsible for assigning IP addresses to individual end user devices, and the Mobile Switching Center assigning a block of IP addresses to each base station.

  • Patent number: 8483116
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for sending a control information for retransmission in a multihop relay wireless communication system are provided. Data received from a lower node is checked for errors. The data is transmitted to an upper node, when the data has no errors. When two or more information, which include at least one of Acknowledgement (ACK) and Negative ACK (NACK) in response to a data reception are received from one or more lower nodes, the two or more information are transmitted to the upper node at the same time. Accordingly, the RS can transmit the control information for the ARQ provided from the lower nodes, to the upper node at the same time.

  • Patent number: 8477687
Abstract: A wireless mesh network system includes a plurality of wireless devices adapted to forward a message packet. Each of the wireless devices includes a transmitting unit, a receiving unit, a communications controller, and a RAM. Further, the communications controller controls such that an original source address contained in a message packet forwarded by a wireless device, which is an address of the wireless device that has firstly transmitted the message packet, and a packet number that identifies the message packet are stored in the RAM, and controls such that a message packet received is forwarded if information contained in the message packet received is not consistent with information of the original source address and the packet number stored in the RAM.

  • Patent number: 8451758
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for operation of two wireless services whereas a first service is broadcasting signals within burst with known time distances between the bursts and a second service is transmitting signals at least between a first partner and a second partner. The problem to be solved by the invention is to enable a user to use applications of at least to services concurrently at the same time with the same device. The problem is solved by an operation of one and the same device which is receiving bursts in a first mode of the first service and is switched from the first mode into a mode of the second service during the time between the bursts of the service.

  • Patent number: 8441991
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for the selection of sequences used for the transmission of signals from user equipments in a cellular communication system. The sequences can be selected either through planning or through pseudo-random hopping among a set of sequences. With planning, the serving Node B signals the sequence assignment for each cell, which remains invariable in time. With pseudo-random sequence hopping, which has the same pattern in all cells, the serving Node B signals the initial sequence, from a set of sequences, which can be different among cells. The signals can be transmitted either through a data channel or through a control channel. The initial sequence used in the control (or data) channel is signaled by the serving Node B. The initial sequence used in the data (or control) channel is selected to be the sequence in a set of sequences with number equal to a shift value relative to the first sequence as signaled by the serving Node B for the control (or data) channel.

  • Patent number: 8443049
Abstract: Messaging patterns for a plurality of subscribers are obtained and analyzed to determine a “trust score” that is an indication of the likelihood that a given message for a particular subscriber is of interest, as opposed to unwanted, e.g., spam or telemarketing phone calls. Subscribers establish or set trust score thresholds and call processing actions to take based on the thresholds and the trust score for a given incoming communication. For example, if a subscriber establishes a processing action of “block call” for calls with a “low” threshold trust score, and an incoming message (email, SMS, instant message, or phone call) has a trust score of “low” or “very low”, the message is blocked. Conversely, if the trust score for the message is “high” and the user has specified to pass through “high” trust score messages, the message is passed through. Various algorithms can be used compute trust scores based on messaging patterns.

  • Patent number: 8400973
Abstract: A network includes a first node and a second node and data frames are transmitted from the first node to the second node. Each of the data frames carry information belonging to one of a plurality of data flows. In a flow control unit (125) there is an estimate or measure determining unit (1201) for determining for each of the data flows, at the ends of first time periods having a predetermined first length, an estimate of or a measure representing the total number of received data frames that have been faulty during the first time period. A reference calculating unit (1101) is connected to the estimate or measure determining unit for calculating, based on the determined estimate or measure, a bandwidth capacity reference value determining the currently maximum allowable bandwidth for transmission from the data transmitting node to the data receiving node. The first node can be a radio network controller and the second node a radio base station, the data frames forwarded in an HS-DSCH over an Iub interface.

  • Patent number: 8259673
Abstract: User Equipment (UE) receiving non-voice packet switched service in an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestial Radio Access Network (eUTRAN) cell undergoes handover to a circuit switched GSM/Edge Radio Access Network (GERAN)/UTRAN cell in response to a requirement for voice service. The voice service is established in the circuit switched domain of a GERAN/UTRAN cell to ensure service continuity regardless of UE mobility that would otherwise not be possible if the voice service was established in the eUTRAN cell. A Gs-like interface between a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) of the CS Core Network and the Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the Evolved Packet Core provides an interface for page requests and location update procedures to be performed.

  • Patent number: 8218498
Abstract: Provided are a method and a system for transmitting mobile IP packets without loss. The method includes the steps of storing, by an old radio access station, packets that are not transmitted to a mobile terminal when a handover indication message is received, and creating, by the old radio access station, a tunnel to a new radio access station, and transmitting the stored packets to the new radio access station via the tunnel when a link-layer handover procedure is completed. Thus, upon the handover of the mobile terminal, IP packets directed to the old access control router and the old radio access station are stored in the buffer and then transmitted via the tunnel after the handover, thereby preventing loss of packets during the handover. Thus, yield cannot be degraded upon the handover and seamless network connection service can be provided.

  • Patent number: 8195821
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for implementing an execution configuration for efficiently recording and reproducing data using distributed nodes are provided. When data recording processing is performed for a plurality of distributed nodes connected to a network or when data recorded in the distributed nodes is collected and reproduced, a processing command apparatus sets data for determining for the nodes to determine whether to execute data recording or data reproducing and transmits a data processing request, in which the data for determination and data specifying data to be recorded or reproduced are stored, to the nodes so that the node side can autonomously determine whether to execute data processing based on the data for determination. This configuration eliminates the need for the command apparatus, which issues a processing request, to perform preprocessing such as the selection of a particular node, thus increasing the efficiency of data recording and reproducing processing for distributed nodes.
