Consequently, the portable telephone starts a text input application storing the character associated with the end region (for example, a notepad application) and the selected character or image is input.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining available shows from one or more content sources, providing at least a portion of the available shows for display in a programming guide on a display device of a user, receiving a selection by the user of a particular entry in the programming guide, determining a plurality of modules for the particular show, and providing a show page that includes the determined modules for display on the display device in response to the selection by the user. The entries of the programming guide are each associated with one of the available shows. At least one of the determined modules includes social content from a social graph of the social-networking system.

Abstract: A method of guiding a user's web navigation through the recommendation of online content in the form of a navigation recommendation includes a server and a browser. The browser receives identification associated with a user in a navigation network and transmits the login information to the server. The browser additionally transmits information about the user's browsing activity to the server. The server receives browsing activities from many browsers having associated users and stores information indicating an association between the users and their respective interactions. The server additionally receives social networking information for the users and stores information indicating an association between the user and their respective social connections. Based on an input received from the browser associated with the user in the navigation network, the server determines a navigation recommendation for the user based on the stored information and transmits the navigation recommendation to the browser.

Abstract: According to an example computer-implemented method, shared media content is presented to a plurality of users during a collaborative session, with the session including a plurality of events. A breadcrumb trail of events occurring during the collaborative session is created. For each of the events, a descriptor is determined for the event, and the event is tagged in the breadcrumb trail with the descriptor. Responsive to receipt of a descriptor selection, a filtered breadcrumb trail including only events tagged with the selected descriptor is presented.

Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently searching for applications on a mobile device are presented. A user may be provided with an interface on the display screen of his mobile device. The interface may display a collection of categories associated with one or more applications. If the user selects a category, the interface may display a collection of one or more subcategories associated with the selected category, and a selectable cursor that is configured to allow the user to select one of the subcategories by moving the cursor through a grid in the interface. In response to the user selecting one of the subcategories, the interface may display a collection of applications associated with the selected subcategory, and the user may select one of the applications using the selectable cursor and grid. A user can select an application to purchase and/or download onto his mobile device.

The user information is reviewed to determine whether the user information includes a preselected configurable interface. The preselected configurable interface is provided based on the user information including the preselected configurable interface. Alternatively, based on the user information not including the preselected configurable interface, a configurable interface based on a user selection of the configurable interface from a plurality of available configurable interfaces is configured.

By executing various input operations on a representation of a message in the message list, the user can take an action on the message. For example, a user operating a pointing device can perform a drag operation on a representation of the message in the message list, and the action to be taken on the message can be indicated by the direction and distance of the drag. Visual feedback can be provided during the drag operation to indicate the action that will be taken if the user ends the drag at the current location.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and computer program products for controlling a computing device comprising a touch-screen user interface. A status of one or more applications having access to the touch-screen user interface of the computing device is monitored. In response to the monitoring indicating that a predetermined application is displaying a screen on the touch-screen user interface, at least one overlay portion is configured over a part of the displayed screen. Hence, an augmented user interface experience is provided which allows display of information to a user via an overlay displayed on top of information associated with a predetermined application already being presented to the user. No interaction by the user with the touch-screen user interface is required in order to navigate away from or back to the predetermined application.

Abstract: A wireless communication device with a voice-input and display-touch interface has an interface processor that enables, in part (i) an either display-touch or a voice-input based interface, and in part (ii) only a voice-input based interface for efficiently searching information databases. A sequence of context based search verb and search term is selected via either touch or voce selection and then the human articulated voice query is expanded using a culture and a world intelligence dictionary for conducting more efficient searches though a voice-based input.

Abstract: One method for managing remote display performance includes operations for embedding pixel data in a file of an application executing on a server, and detecting an open window of a graphical user interface (GUI) associated with the application. The pixel data is used to create a pixel strip in the window, while the GUI is being displayed on a remote display of a remote client. Update information for the GUI being displayed on the remote display is transmitted from the server to the remote client, the update information corresponding to the change in the presentation of the open window on the server. Further, a change in a presentation of the open window is detected, and a pixel strip received at the remote display is identified. A performance metric for the remote display is calculated based on the received pixel strip when compared to the expected values for the pixel strip.
