Abstract: A system and method is provided for printing variable information documents including processing a VI request which has a dynamic reference and uses a namespace and schema, wherein the dynamic reference specifies information to be integrated into a resolved document. The processing includes mapping between respective namespaces and schemas used by a plurality of data sources and the namespace and schema used by the VI request, and generating at least one query in accordance with the dynamic reference and the mapping. The data sources are queried using the generated at least one query. The resolved document is generated and printed, including integrating data received in response to the querying into the resolved document. The data source(s) to be queried may be selected based on a comparison of a type of information available from the plurality of data sources and a type of information requested via the dynamic references.

Abstract: A computer-based method for creating XML files from an edited document is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: reading an edited document from a file transfer protocol (FTP) server; reading each of equation objects originally existed in the edited file and creating a tag image file (TIF) image according to the equation object being read; creating a joint photographic experts group (JPEG) image according to the TIF image and recording a pixel size of the JPEG image; creating an XML character string according to each paragraph in the edited file; inserting the XML character strings into different XML file templates, thereby obtaining different XML files. A second output equation is generated and expresses the output data as a function of a subset of the at least one first and second input data with no functional dependence on the plurality of intermediary results. Generation of the second output equation utilizes the first output equation and the plurality of first intermediary equations. The output data of the second output equation is assigned as content of an output cell of the spreadsheet. The content of the intermediary cells is removed, resulting in the plurality of intermediary results not being identifiable in the spreadsheet.

Even when one or more desired pages contained in bookbinding data are selected, image editing is designated, but a non-image page exists in the selected pages, the non-image page can be excluded from editing targets, and the process can shift to image editing. For this purpose, when a plurality of pages are selected and image editing is designated, whether each selected page is an editable image page is determined. An editable page is temporarily stored.
