Abstract: A portable information handling system presents visual images in a tablet configuration having a housing in a closed position by passing the visual images through a switchable film having a transparent state and out an upper surface of housing. The housing opens to a clamshell configuration to expose the display at the inner housing surface and presents display visual images against an opaque state of the switchable film. A graphics processor or timing controller adjusts the visual image orientation based upon whether the display is viewed from the inner surface or outer surface.

  • Patent number: 11762548
Abstract: A touch sensor system includes touch sensors, drive-sense circuits (DSCs), memory, and a processing module. A DSC drives a first signal via a single line coupling to a touch sensor and simultaneously senses, when present, a second signal that is uniquely associated with a user. The DSC processes the first signal and/or the second signal to generate a digital signal that is representative of an electrical characteristic of the touch sensor. The processing module executes operational instructions (stored in the memory) to process the digital signal to detect interaction of the user with the touch sensor and to determine whether the interaction of the user with the touch sensor compares favorably with authorization. When not authorized, the processing module aborts execution of operation(s) associated with the interaction of the user with the touch sensor. Alternatively, when authorized, the processing module facilitates execution of the operation(s).

  • Patent number: 11762500
Abstract: Sensors capable of detection of user objects within different detection zones can be used to reduce power consumption of a touch screen interface of an electronic device, even while the device is in a suspended or sleep state. At least one object sensor, such as a capacitive sensor, has a detection zone or range exceeding the range of a touch screen sensor, so the touch screen sensor can be placed into a low power state until the object sensor detects a user object in a position approaching the touch screen. The object sensor(s) are positioned around or within the perimeter of the interaction area of the touch screen. The object sensor(s) can have less power consumption than the touch screen sensors, so the electronic device can have extended standby battery life or other more energy efficient operation. Object sensors are also used to detect gestures or user object positioning.
