Abstract: Hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive prepared from (a) a rubbery block copolymer containing a rubbery polyisoprene midblock portion and a plurality of crystalline poly(vinylarene) endblocks; (b) a tackifying resin compatible with the midblock portion and (c) poly(alkyloxazoline); and (d) an antioxidant. The golf balls comprise a novel cover which is far more durable than balata-covered balls yet closely approach or exceed their playability characteristics. The cover comprises a blend of a thermoplastic urethane having a Shore A hardness less than 95 and an ionomer having a Shore D hardness greater than 55. The relative amounts of the urethane and ionomer are set so that the cover has a Shore C hardness within the range of 70 to 85, most preferably 72 to 76.

The graft product of a low molecular weight semi-solid substrate can be recovered conveniently as a non-cold flowing solid which has utility as a low molecular weight oil VI improver and as an impact modifier for polar thermoplastic resins.
Abstract: The black speck formation which occurs during the compounding and molding of admixtures of oxymethylene polymers and polyamides having a melting or softening point below that of the oxymethylene polymer can be reduced by adding the polyamide to the oxymethylene polymer as a dispersion of the polyamide in a carrier resin which is inert to the oxymethylene polymer and has a melting or softening point below that of the oxymethylene polymer. The polyamide comprises less than about 50 weight percent of the dispersion.

Abstract: Blends of acrylic copolymer and polyester urethane provide resin suitable for use as enamel coatings which, when cured, exhibit both hardness and flexibility.
Abstract: A novel composition of matter having surprising physical properties when fabricated into multiple layer films is disclosed. The composition is generally a blend of nylon 6 with a nylon copolymer comprised of nylon 6 and a second nylon polymer. The second nylon polymer is 2.5 to 10 mole percent of the overall composition. The remaining 97.5% to 90% of the composition is the nylon 6 and the nylon 6 component of the copolymer. The nylon composition may be comprised entirely of a nylon copolymer having 90% to 97.5% nylon 6 and 10% to 2.5% of a second nylon polymer. The multiple layer films fabricated with the nylon compositions show unexpected range of thermoforming and heat sealing capabilities and good heat resistance, similar to that of nylon 6.
Abstract: A polyamide-rubber blend composition is disclosed. The composition is prepared by mixing the following components (a) and (b) under heating in the presence of a crosslinking agent.(a) 70 to 40 vol % of a rubber composition made of 5 to 40 vol % of an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber and 95 to 50 vol % of an epichlorohydrin rubber; and(b) 30 to 60 vol % of a polyamide resin, the gel fraction of the rubber composition (a) in the blend composition is at least 70 wt %.The acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber of the composition preferably contains not less than 1.5 wt % of a carboxyl group in the polymer.

Abstract: A heat curable one package polyurethane resin composition adaptable to use for automotive seam sealing, particularly under high solids acrylic enamel paints, said composition comprising an isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymer the isocyanate groups of which are blocked by reaction with an oxime, and a curing agent having at least two active hydrogen atoms per molecule, such as a polyol, a polyamine, or a blocked polyamine.
Abstract: Novel, solvent free adhesive compositions comprising a moisture curable polyurethane formed from a first component comprising a diisocyanate, and a second component comprising a substantially linear hydroxy polyester in proportions to provide a prepolymer having from 1.0 to 2.0 percent by weight --NCO groups available for reaction, and a third component comprising a monofunctional reactant present in an amount sufficient to react with 1-40 mole % of the reactive --NCO groups of the product of the prepolymer reaction. A layer of applied adhesive may be exposed to airborne moisture under relatively mild conditions to bring about chain extension of the moisture curable polyurethane, after which the layer of the adhesive composition may be heated to bring it to tacky adhesive condition. The chain extended adhesive composition is storable for at least several days without affecting the bond strength.
