Abstract: A bullet-screen-comment-based check-in implementation method is provided. The method includes: detecting whether a playback progress of a video reaches a preset first playback progress; in response to detecting that the playback progress of the video reaches the preset first playback progress, displaying, based on a video type of the video, a check-in start card corresponding to the video type, the check-in start card including a check-in button; and displaying a check-in success card on a video playback screen in response to a check-in operation triggered by a user through the check-in button.

Abstract: A method uses the eye gaze of a user, as a proxy of their attention, and leverages it to provide a more natural experience in a multi-view, i.e. multi-party and multi-perspective, video streaming service. The method takes advantage of increasingly powerful inexpensive cameras and related software to provide commodity eye-tracking. The method also leverages collected data on user interactions and uses machine learning techniques to customize its response to individual usage patterns. A system is specified for implementing the described method on a streaming architecture.

Abstract: A method includes segmenting a multidimensional media stream into a plurality of segments of multidimensional media in a multidimensional space; representing each segment of the plurality of segments of multidimensional media using a respective sequence vector, the respective sequence vector comprising one or more predefined multidimensional metadata, wherein the predefined multidimensional metadata includes a startcode that is an identical unique code point and a sequence number, wherein each segment includes the identical unique code point; and deriving a network based media processing (NBMP) workflow based on the respective sequence vector of each segment of the plurality of segments.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for synchronization of independent services. In certain embodiments, a method may comprise generating output synchronized to a secondary service output, including obtaining a manifest of events corresponding to the secondary service output, generating a resource schedule of resources to call at specified timestamps based on the manifest, executing a selected resource when a corresponding timestamp is received, and providing an output from the selected resource.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for operating a group watching session. Group communication is initiated for a group watching session displaying a media content item. A bandwidth available to at least one computing device participating in the group watching session is determined. A group communication mode for a segment of the media content item is determined. A communication parameter of the group communication and/or a buffering parameter for the media content item is set in response to determining the group communication mode for the segment of the media content item and the bandwidth available to each computing device participating in the group watching session.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed to generate media exposure maps of media environments. An example apparatus includes memory and processor circuitry to execute instructions to at least: group first locations into a first cluster and second locations into a second cluster, ones of the first locations and the second locations based on at least one of corresponding angle of arrival measurements or corresponding angle of departure measurements, determine a first duration corresponding to the first cluster and a second duration corresponding to the second cluster based on timestamps of the first locations and the second locations, and generate a map based on at least one of the first cluster or the second cluster in response to one of the first duration or the second duration meeting a threshold duration and corresponding to a monitored data, the map to represent an area of media exposure in a media presentation environment.

Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting an interruption-free version of a television program for recording on a user equipment device. In one aspect, a system transmits a first stream including a television program to a user equipment device. The system receives an indication that the television program is being recorded on the user equipment device. The system determines whether an interruption is imminent during transmission of the television program. In response to determining that the interruption is imminent, the system generates a second stream including the television program. The second stream does not include the interruption during the transmission of the television program. The system transmits the second stream to the user equipment device along with an instruction to switch recording of the television program from the first stream to the second stream.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to correct errors in measuring audiences of over-the-top media are disclosed. In some examples, the methods and apparatus identify a first set of data from a first data source, the first set of data different from a second set of data from a second data source. In some examples, the methods and apparatus generate a third set of data based on the second set of data from the second data source. In some examples, the methods and apparatus generate a model based on a difference between the first set of data and the third set of data. In some examples, the methods and apparatus apply the model to the first set. In some examples, the methods and apparatus assign viewership to an impression associated with the first set of data by imputing viewership associated with the second set of data to the first set of data.

Abstract: An Interactive Media Event (IME) system includes a sync server, a first user device, and a second user device, each device is coupled to the server. The server executes computer instructions instantiating a content segment engine which outputs a Party matter to the second user device and instantiates an IME engine which receives, from the second user device, a later reaction to the Party matter. The IME engine synchronizes the later reaction with the Party matter. The Party matter may include a media event and a prior reaction to the media event received from the first user device. The media event includes a primary content segment and synchronization information associated therewith. The prior reaction and/or the later reaction may be synchronized to the primary content segment and/or to each other using the synchronization information. A reaction may include chat data captured during the Party.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a controller to cause a people meter to emit a prompt for input of audience identification information at a first time and determine a first audience count based on the input, an audio detector to determine a second audience count based on signatures generated from audio data captured in the media environment, and a comparator to cause the people meter to not emit the prompt for at least a first time period after the first time when the first audience count is equal to the second audience count.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending content based on a mood score associated with a user profile. The system accesses the viewing history of the user profile to determine media assets consumed and the mood score associated with each of the consumed media assets of the plurality of media assets. A cumulative mood score is calculated based at least in part to determine if the total score is below a mood threshold. Based on the cumulative mood score being lower than the mood threshold, the system generates for presentation, on the consumer device, one or more media assets with a positive mood score.

Abstract: A method is provided for displaying an immersive video content according to eye movement of a viewer includes the steps of detecting, using an eye tracking device, a field of view of at least one eye of the viewer, transmitting eye tracking coordinates from the detected field of view to an eye tracking processor, identifying a region on a video display corresponding to the transmitted eye tracking processor, adapting the immersive video content from a video storage device at a first resolution for a first portion of the immersive video content and a second resolution for a second portion of the immersive video content, the first resolution being higher than the second resolution, displaying the first portion of the immersive video content on the video display within a zone, and displaying the second portion of the immersive video content on the video display outside of the zone.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for seamlessly connecting devices based on relationships between the users of the respective devices. A media guidance application may determine that a first user has entered an environment (e.g., his/her mother's home) and may determine a frequency with which the first user enters the environment (e.g., daily). In response to determining that the first user visits frequently, the media guidance application may identify a second device in the environment (e.g., a smart TV) that a second user (e.g., the first user's mother) is authorized to grant access rights for. The media guidance application may determine a likelihood that the second user will grant the access rights for the second device to the first user, based on interaction data between the first user and the second user. In response to determining a high likelihood, the media guidance application may transmit the access rights.

Abstract: A system for providing customized content includes a recognition device. A media transmission device is in communication with a recognition device and a media delivery device. The media transmission device is in communication with a processor and a memory storing computer instructions configured to instruct the processor to receive a primary media presentation including primary media content for a point of interest of a venue. The media transmission device generates a secondary media presentation including secondary media content for the user based on identified user preferences for the user. The media transmission device generates a custom media presentation including custom media content for the user based on the identified user preferences. The media transmission device transmits the primary media presentation, the secondary media presentation, or the custom media presentation and presents the primary media content, the secondary media content, or the custom media content to the user.

Abstract: An interactive video distribution system and video player are described. A client server arrangement may be used for providing a video player and video content to a client device. The video player may display navigation images enabling navigation to specific portions of the video content by activating a corresponding navigation image. The video player may also enable the sharing of a segment of the video with other video players, enabling the video players to play the streamed segment of the video without having to play the entire video, thereby reducing network bandwidth usage. The video player may be embeddable. The server may associate searchable tags with respective video segments.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to selectively stream content based on parental control ratings. At a client device, a manifest identifying sequential segments of a media asset and versions of a particular segment of the sequential segments may be received, and a graphical user interface may be generated for display to simultaneously depict a respective portion of each respective version of the particular segment and respective selectable options associated with each respective version of the particular segment. A selection of a first option may be received that is associated with a first version of the particular segment, and during playing of the media asset, in response to determining that the particular segment is the next segment to be played, the first version of the particular segment may be requested from the server.

Abstract: Systems, devices, apparatuses, components, methods, and techniques for generating and playing a selectable content depth media program are provided. Media content items are edited to produce selectable depth media segments which are assembled into selectable depth media programs. A media-playback device is configured to navigate and play the selectable depth media program through interaction by a listening user. The user selects the desired content depth for each media segment.
