Abstract: Systems and methods are described to selectively stream content based on parental control ratings. At a client device, a manifest identifying sequential segments of a media asset and versions of a particular segment of the sequential segments may be received, and a graphical user interface may be generated for display to simultaneously depict a respective portion of each respective version of the particular segment and respective selectable options associated with each respective version of the particular segment. A selection of a first option may be received that is associated with a first version of the particular segment, and during playing of the media asset, in response to determining that the particular segment is the next segment to be played, the first version of the particular segment may be requested from the server.

Abstract: Various embodiments of how information about viewers of content provided via a set-top box can be captured, used to identify one or more of the viewers, and insert advertising into content viewed using the set-top box. The captured information can be used for other purposes.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining whether a media asset intended to be recorded is actually transmitted at the time and on the source of a scheduled higher-priority recording. Should the intended media asset not be transmitted in a desirable way, or not transmitted at all, the system will instead make a recording of a lower-priority recording that would not have been made because of a conflict. The systems and methods described herein, before making a higher-priority recording, obtain a sample of the media asset included in a received transmission at a scheduled time and compare it to content associated with the media asset scheduled for recording to determine whether to record the received transmission.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing an interruption of content presentation on a computing device are provided. In one example, an interruption of presentation of a segment of content on a computing device is detected. An estimated recovery time is determined for the interruption. Based at least in part on the estimated recovery time, a determination is made as to whether to skip the segment or wait to resume presentation of the video segment after the interruption subsides. Based on a result of the determining whether to skip or wait, an instruction to wait or an instruction to skip the segment is generated for presentation via the computing device.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, generating metadata associated with a second portion of the first media content, and providing the first media content and the metadata to a media processor that presents the first portion of the first media content. The media processor identifies a media content type associated with the second portion of the first media content according to the metadata. Additional embodiments can include providing the second media content to the media processor. The media processor terminates presentation of the first media content prior to presentation of the second portion of the first media content and presents the second media content during a broadcast of the second portion of the first media content. Further, the media processor terminates presentation of the second media content, and presents the third portion of the first media content from the first broadcast channel. Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein to dynamically update content restrictions for multiple users by detecting a first user in the proximity of a media device playing a first content item and detecting a second user entering the proximity of the media device. In response to detecting a second user entering the proximity of the media device and receiving a command from the first user that controls playing the first content, the system modifies a stored relationship between the first user and the second user to track the relationship between the first user and the second user. Thereafter, when the system detects the first user and the second user in the proximity of a media device playing a second content, in response, the system automatically performs an action that controls the playing of the second content (e.g., without user having to issue those commands).

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method selects a context for a user account and selects a plurality of collections for an interface. A collection includes a set of videos. The method selects a theme from a plurality of themes for a collection in the plurality of collections based on the context. The plurality of themes apply different display formats to the collection. The method sends an identifier for the theme and information for the collection to a client device being used by the user account to indicate to the interface the theme to use to display the collection with the plurality of collections.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for obtaining a digital representation of user engagement with audio-video content includes playing digital data comprising audio-video content by an output device that outputs audio-video output based on the digital data and receiving sensor data from at least one sensor positioned to sense an involuntary response of one or more users while engaged with the audio-video output. The method further includes determining a Content Engagement Power (CEP) value, based on the sensor data and recording the digital representation of CEP in a computer memory. An apparatus is configured to perform the method using hardware, firmware, and/or software.

Abstract: A content management resource transmits a received digital data stream in a respective network data channel to one or more subscribers. The content management resource receives an emergency notification control signal, which indicates occurrence of an emergency message. In response to receiving the emergency notification control signal, the content management resource transmits the emergency message in the digital data channel to the one or more subscribers in lieu of transmitting the received digital data stream of content in the data channel to the one or more subscriber. Thus, a subscriber can tune to a particular channel to play back selected content and be apprised, via receipt of the message over the particular channel, of a corresponding condition such as an emergency.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for collecting attentiveness information associated with a user's response to consuming a piece of media content. The attentiveness information is used to create an attentiveness-labelled behavioural data for the user's response. A computer-implemented attentiveness model may be generated by applying machine learning techniques to the a set of attentiveness-labelled behavioural data from multiple users. The system may comprise an annotation tool that facilitates human labelling of the user's response with attentiveness data. The resulting attentiveness model is therefore based on correlations indicative of attentiveness within the attentiveness-labelled behavioural data and/or physiological data that are based on real human cognition rather than a predetermined feature or combination of features.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method for adjusting a video parameter based on voiceprint recognition, a device for adjusting a video parameter based on voiceprint recognition and a readable storage medium, where the method includes: during a video program is displayed on a smart terminal, receiving audio information collected by a voiceprint data collection module; in a determination that a voiceprint feature library includes target preset audio information corresponding to the audio information, determining user identity information and user mood information corresponding to the audio information based on the target preset audio information; acquiring an adjustment parameter of a parameter adjustment mode corresponding to the user mood information, and acquiring an adjustment ratio corresponding to the parameter adjustment mode based on the user identity information; and adjusting a video playback parameter of the smart terminal based on the adjustment parameter and the adjustment ratio.

Abstract: In an asset management system, a wearable camera mountable by a police officer and a server that manages information regarding the wearable camera are connected to enable a communication. The wearable camera repeatedly diagnoses whether or not the wearable camera has failure at a predetermined timing, and notifies the server of a diagnosis result. The server is connected to a database, accumulates the diagnosis result of the wearable camera in the database every time the server receives the diagnosis result of the wearable camera, and displays the diagnosis result of the wearable camera on an external terminal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for seamlessly connecting devices based on relationships between the users of the respective devices. A media guidance application may determine that a first user has entered an environment (e.g., his/her mother's home) and may determine a frequency with which the first user enters the environment (e.g., daily). In response to determining that the first user visits frequently, the media guidance application may identify a second device in the environment (e.g., a smart TV) that a second user (e.g., the first user's mother) is authorized to grant access rights for. The media guidance application may determine a likelihood that the second user will grant the access rights for the second device to the first user, based on interaction data between the first user and the second user. In response to determining a high likelihood, the media guidance application may transmit the access rights.

Abstract: Systems and processes are provided for a micro ATSC transmitter including a satellite signal decoder configured to decode a satellite broadcast signal to generate a received audio video program, a data decoder configured to decoding a data signal from an ATSC broadcaster, a video processor configured to generate an altered audio video program in response to the received audio video program and the data signal, an ATSC encoder configured to encode the altered audio video program to generate an ATSC broadcast signal, and an ATSC transmitter configured to transmit the ATSC broadcast signal.

Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms described herein facilitate the storage of digital media recordings. According to various embodiments, a system is provided comprising a processor, a storage device, Random Access Memory (RAM), an archive writer, and a recording writer. The archive writer is configured to retrieve a plurality of small multimedia segments (SMSs) in RAM and write the plurality of SMSs into an archive container file in RAM. The single archive container file may correspond to a singular multimedia file when complete. New SMSs retrieved from RAM are appended into the archive container file if the new SMSs also correspond to the singular multimedia file. The recording writer is configured to flush the archive container file to be stored as a digital media recording on the storage device once enough SMSs have been appended by the archive writer to the archive container file to complete the singular multimedia file.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating for display an indication of a segment of media content relevant to a voice communication. This may be accomplished by a media guidance application that monitors a voice communication between users. The media guidance application determines that a first user is describing media content. In response to determining that the first user is describing the media content, the media guidance application retrieves media asset viewing history of the first user. The media guidance application determines, based on metadata of each media asset in the media asset viewing history of the first user and the voice communication, a media asset that the first user is describing. The media guidance application determines, based on metadata of the media asset, a segment of the media asset that the first user is describing. The media guidance application generates, for display, an indication of the segment.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer products provide techniques handling media data based on triggers. A video portion of a first stream and an audio portion of a second stream can be merged based on correlation of the streams and quality analyses of the respective video and audio portions. A variety of triggers can be identified and utilized to determine the use or playback of streams.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device configured for generating a number of content groups by grouping a number of tagged media segments according to their corresponding content designators. The device can be further configured for detect an activity of a user, determining a particular segment length and content designator according to the detected activity, and generating a selected content group according to the particular segment length and content designator. Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting an interruption-free version of a television program for recording on a user equipment device. In one aspect, a system transmits a first stream including a television program to a user equipment device. The system receives an indication that the television program is being recorded on the user equipment device. The system determines whether an interruption is imminent during transmission of the television program. In response to determining that the interruption is imminent, the system generates a second stream including the television program. The second stream does not include the interruption during the transmission of the television program. The system transmits the second stream to the user equipment device along with an instruction to switch recording of the television program from the first stream to the second stream.
