Abstract: A decorative covering for a vehicle interior panel is made from two sheets of material joined together at a seam. The sheets of material have matching alignment features along respective edges to aid in visual alignment during the joining operation. The alignment features are spaced along the edge of a decorative layer, and cutouts are formed along a corresponding edge of an attached backing layer such that each alignment feature is visible through one of the cutouts when viewed from the back side. The cutouts are larger than the alignment features and formed before the two layers are laminated together, effectively increasing allowable tolerances during lamination. This construction is particularly useful with leather, which is often subjected to cut-and-sew operations and used with a backing layer.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mass plywood panel assembly including at least two engineered wood panel assemblies. Each wood panel assembly includes a first layer including a first set of billets, a second layer including a second set of billets and a third layer including a third set of billets of sheets. The first set of billets, the second set of billets, and the third set of billets are all oriented longitudinally along the length of the wood panel assembly and the at least two engineered wood panel assemblies are connected by an end joint, thereby forming the mass plywood panel assembly. Methods of manufacturing mass plywood panel assemblies are also disclosed.

The anti-paint cracking system will thus be associated with the joint space along the lengthwise extent thereof and positioned below the finished paint topcoat. The anti-paint cracking system will include a joint sealant positioned in the joint space and an adhesive tape or a fibrous tape formed of a fiber composite material applied over the joint space and the joint sealant positioned therein.

The first and second metal films are bonded together, and at least a portion the first metal film and at least a portion of the second metal film overlap each other. The first and second metal films are metallurgically bonded at an interface between the first metal film and the second metal film. The first member includes a first junction resin covering portion defined by a portion of a thermoplastic resin layer and overlapping a portion at which the first metal film and the second metal film overlap each other, and the first junction resin covering portion includes an uneven surface to reduce or prevent slippage due to ultrasonic vibration.
Abstract: Provided are stiffened stringer panels with integrated indexing stacks. An example composite panel comprises a skin member having an inner surface. An index for positioning a support tool comprises a first set and second set of layered laminate stacks coupled to the inner surface such that a channel is formed between the first and second set of layered laminate stacks. The first and second set of layered laminate stacks is configured to cradle a support tool in the channel to automatically align the support tool relative to the panel. A stringer may include a cap portion that extends from the first set to the second set of layered laminate stacks to form flange portions on the inner surface of the skin member. The index and the skin member may be co-cured or co-bonded.

Abstract: A bamboo laminated lumber is provided having structural characteristics meeting or exceeding dimensionally equivalent wood based components. The bamboo laminated lumber is formed from bamboo laminated elements laminated and joined together to form dimensional lumber and engineered lumber components. The bamboo laminated lumber element comprises a combination of linear bamboo starter boards being halves of timber bamboo canes pressed flat with the inner pith surfaces laminated together with the grain aligned and skewed bamboo starter boards being halves of timber bamboo canes pressed flat with the inner pith surfaces laminated together with the grain offset from centerline at a specified angle. Top and bottom linear bamboo starter boards are laminated to a central skewed bamboo starter board yielding a bamboo laminated lumber element.
Abstract: A part of the sealed surface of the thermosetting resin member is a non-roughened surface that is not subjected to a roughening treatment. The other part of the sealed surface is a roughened surface recessed from the non-roughened surface to form a step and more roughened than the non-roughened surface. The thermoplastic resin member includes an additive added thereto, and the additive contains a functional group. A functional group existing in the roughened surface and the functional group existing in the additive are chemically bonded together. The roughened surface has a closed-circular shape that is formed over an entire circumference of the sealed surface around an axis parallel to the first direction.
