Abstract: A system and method for tracking/controlling access to transported articles, includes a computing module in signal communication with sending and receiving stations. A first input device at the sending station receives identifying information identifying a carrier (“carrier ID”) and an item (“item ID”) placed within the locked carrier. The carrier ID and the item ID are transmitted to the computing module. A second input device at the receiving station receives the carrier ID for a carrier received at the receiving station and identifying information for an individual (“user ID”) at the receiving station provided access to the locked carrier. The carrier ID and the user ID are transmitted to the computing module, which unlocks the carrier and allows access to the item inside, and records the user ID of the individual provided access and the associated carrier ID and/or item ID to provide chain of custody information for the item.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for enabling a portable electronic device to retrieve information about an object when the object's symbology, e.g., a barcode, is detected. According to one embodiment a method is providing in which symbology associated with an object is detected and decoded to obtain a decode string. The decode string is sent to one or more visual detection applications for processing, wherein the one or more visual detection applications reside on the portable electronic device, and receiving a first amount of information about the object from the one or more visual detection applications. The method also includes sending the decode string to a remote server for processing and receiving a second amount of information about the object from the remote server. The first amount of information is combined with the second amount of information to obtain cumulative information which is displayed on the portable electronic device.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods related to a framework for carrying out tasks using transactions with printing networks are provided. The framework is provided to utilize a printing network. The printing network can include a plurality of printing-related devices that include at least one of: a cloud server, a print server, a controlling computing device, a client computing device, and a printing device. The framework can be configured to enable one or more operations to be performed by at least some of the plurality of printing-related devices. Software of the framework can be installed on each of the plurality of printing-related devices. The framework can be utilized to enable an operation of the one or more operations to be performed by at least some of the plurality of printing-related devices.
Abstract: Various embodiments of RFID switch devices are disclosed herein. Such RFID switch devices advantageously enable manual activation/deactivation of the RF module. The RFID switch device may include a RF module with an integrated circuit adapted to ohmically connect to a substantially coplanar conductive trace pattern, as well as booster antenna for extending the operational range of the RFID device. The operational range of the RFID switch device may be extended when a region of the booster antenna overlaps a region of the conductive trace pattern on the RF module via inductive or capacitive coupling. The RFID switch device may further include a visual indicator displaying a first color if the RFID switch device is in an active state and/or a second color if the RFID switch device is in an inactive state.
Abstract: A code reading device is equipped with a region extracting unit 2, which divides a photographed image of a bar code into a plurality of horizontal areas, and extracts readable regions from the horizontal areas respectively, and a region coupling unit 4, which couples the extracted regions to restore the whole bar code. Even if an unreadable portion occurs in a part of the bar code, a plurality of readable regions are extracted as parts of the barcode and those regions are coupled to restore a bar code the entirety of which can be read. Consequently, it is possible to accurately read a bar code having dirt or containment of illumination light partially.
Abstract: In an approach for interpreting a matrix code with increased information density, a processor identifies a first portion of an extended matrix code and a second portion of the extended matrix code, where each portion of the extended matrix code has a different combination of at least one positioning marker and at least one location marker. A processor locates at least one location marker of the first portion of the extended matrix code and at least one location marker of the second portion of the extended matrix code. A processor concatenates the first portion of the extended matrix code and the second portion of the extended matrix code based on at least one location marker of the first portion of the extended matrix code and at least one location marker of the second portion of the extended matrix code. A processor generates the extended matrix code.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for systems, methods and devices effective to analyze a file. In some examples, a processor may receive the file. The file may include content and instructions. The content may include data executable by a browser. The processor may analyze the instructions. The processor may identify an internet protocol (IP) address in the instructions based on the analysis. The processor may compare the identified IP address with a list of IP addresses associated with an attack. The processor may generate an alert based on the comparison.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for authenticating an item wherein a code is assigned to the item and includes a plurality of modules arranged in an ideal image. A barcode is encoded within the modules and a picture of the code is printed onto the item. A picture of the printed code is recorded with a low resolution camera at high speed during the production process from which the barcode content is decoded. Irregularities in the picture are analyzed and a numerical value describing an individual imperfection profile is calculated. The numerical value of the imperfection profile depends on at least one unique feature inherently related to the original printing device. The individual imperfection profile is printed onto the item and/or a database record is generated. To authenticate a suspect item, the imperfection profile of the suspect item is compared with the imperfection profile of the original item.
