Abstract: In the high-efficiency machining of blade parts according to the present invention, there is no reversal of the operating direction of a rotating shaft, and a high-quality machined surface can be obtained rapidly. A machining program is created for a workpiece such that: when a part having a convex curved surface and a concave curved surface, with a pair of edge portions as a boundary, is removal-machined, a virtual convex curve, the curvature of which is not inverted with respect to the convex curved surface, with the curves of the pair of edges as the tangent line, is set for the concave curved surface; a drive surface, for defining tool orientation without curvature inversion, is created by using the virtual convex curve, the convex curve set on the convex curved surface, and the convex curves set on the pair of edges; and a tool axis direction during removal machining is set on the basis of the normal direction of the drive surface for tool orientation definition.
Abstract: A component comprising a first outer region (11), at least one intermediate region (13) and a second outer region (12). The outer regions (11, 12) have a higher density and/or a higher elastic modulus than the at least one intermediate region (13). A polymer composition (21) can, preferably, be injected into the component (1) such that a mechanical connection (41) is fixed or can be fixed in the polymer composition (21). A method, a kit and the use thereof are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method for determining alignment of a first part relative to a second part includes an alignment gauge body including a first portion for resting against the first part and a second portion for positioning juxtaposed to the second part and a measuring device fixedly coupled to the alignment gauge body. The measuring device generates a distance signal corresponding to a distance between a first face of the first part and the second face of the second part. A controller coupled to the gauge device and a memory. The controller is programmed to store a vehicle identification number (VIN) in the memory and compare the distance. The controller associates the VIN and the distance in the memory. The controller compares the distance to a threshold and setting a flag in response to comparing. A display coupled to the controller displays an indicator corresponding to the flag.

Abstract: A method of producing customized artwork includes forming and finishing a plurality of backdrops by cutting and/or engraving sheet metal. Based upon an order received for a customized artwork a particular backdrop is selected and a customized ornamental component is produced in sheet metal. If the backdrop and customized component are prone to galvanic corrosion, insulation may be provided between the customized component and backdrop and to insulate fasteners from either the customized component or backdrop. The method reduces lead times and production costs for customized artwork, while improving quality of the final product.
Abstract: Dust cover installation tool configured for placement of a dust cover in an annular opening of an idler pulley includes a frame and a cap press. The frame includes an actuator end core, an opposed placement plate, and at least first and second arms extending therebetween, and a third arm disposed between the first and second arms. The cap press includes a press plate and a rotatable threaded rod extending through a threaded bore in the actuator end core. Rotation of the threaded rod in a first direction within the threaded bore advances the press plate toward the placement plate.

Abstract: A mating assembly is provided and includes a first mating component, a second mating component, a bolt to bolt first and second mating components together and an alignment pin. The alignment pin aligns the first and second mating components so that the first and second mating components can be bolted together. The alignment pin is configured to yield upon an application of a specified load thereto. A magnitude of the specified load is less than magnitudes of loads expected to be transferred between the first and second mating components through the bolt once bolting is complete.
Abstract: Motor shaft adapters include a cylindrical shaft sleeve with a tubular body defined between inner and outer cylindrical surfaces, and frame adapters that include a section of structural tubing and flanges having sides aligned to the sides of the structural tubing section and fixed at respective ends of the section of structural tubing into assembly between a motor and gearhead. Key slot apertures are defined by opposing body end-walls of the tubular body and through the inner and outer cylindrical surfaces of the sleeve. A shaft key has outer sidewalls that include opposing outer sleeve aperture sidewall portions that enable the shaft key sidewall portions to fit within and to thereby engage the sleeve via the key slot aperture. The key sidewalls further include a base pair of opposing key seat engagement portions that fit within and engage opposing sidewalls of a key seat aperture defined within a workpiece shaft.
Abstract: A method of custom manufacturing a flame arrestor assembly configured to extinguish a flame propagating therethrough. The method includes creating a customized flame cell using an additive manufacturing technique, which generally includes forming a body and forming one or more channels in the body. The one or more channels define a flow path configured to transfer heat from a flame front propagating through the flow path to the body. The method also includes providing a housing, and securely arranging the flame cell within the housing.
