  • Patent number: 5794134
Abstract: An unnecessary wave suppressing means suppresses unnecessary waves included in a reception high frequency signal in a frequency band that is changed in accordance with a switching signal. The unnecessary wave suppressing means changes the pass band by inserting a notch into a pass band at a range where a signal is to be suppressed, changing the pass band width so as to exclude a suppression band, retaining a plurality of narrow pass bands for respective frequency bands used and switching among those narrow pass bands in accordance with a frequency band of a receiving signal, or continuously changing the pass band by using a tuning filter.

  • Patent number: 5793418
Abstract: A process and system for forming a video image with a telecine transfer device is disclosed, the process comprising converting a photographic film image into video signals representative of the image with a telecine transfer device which uses a cathode ray tube flying spot scanner in combination with at least one dichroic beam splitting mirror to separate the light from the cathode ray tube into component spectral segments which are then detected by a light detector, wherein a filter is positioned between the dichroic mirror and the light detector to compensate for an inconsistent spectral distribution of light in at least one component spectral segment resulting from a varying angle of incidence of light originating from various positions of the cathode ray tube onto the dichroic mirrors, said filter reducing the magnitude of the range of spectral change due to the varying angle of incidence.

  • Patent number: 5793429
Abstract: Methods of estimating motion in image data include the steps of producing a first frame of image data from a received video signal containing information of an image data frame of higher predetermined resolution (e.g., 352.times.244 pixels) and producing a second image data frame of coarser resolution (e.g., 88.times.61 pixels) relative to the first image data frame. An estimate of motion in the second image data frame is then produced and used to determine a estimate of motion in the first image data frame of higher resolution. The estimate of motion in the first image data frame is then used to obtain an estimate of motion in the received image data frame of predetermined full resolution. The estimate of motion in the second image data frame can be determined by reading a plurality of motion vectors from an image block in a previous version of the second image data frame and reading image data in a reference block in a current version of the second image data frame.

  • Patent number: 5786871
Abstract: A constant luminance corrector for a television system determines brightness information that is discarded in the chrominance channels of an encoder, and adds it to the luminance channel of the encoder. Gamma-corrected luminance and chrominance component signals from a video source, such as a video camera, video tape recorder or the like, are input to the encoder which outputs an encoded luminance component signal and an encoded chrominance component signal that are combined to form a composite signal. The gamma-corrected component signals also are input to a luminance predictor circuit, or alternatively in lieu of the gamma-corrected chrominance component signals a coded chrominance signal and a discarded chrominance signal from the encoder may be input to the luminance predictor circuit. Likewise the encoded luminance component signal may be input to the luminance predictor circuit in lieu of the gamma-corrected luminance component signal.

  • Patent number: 5784098
Abstract: N lines of line-shaped light are projected onto the object by means of a measuring light projecting lens. The light carrying the image of the object is passed through the eyepiece lens 17 in an endoscope 6 and the auxiliary lens 30 in a measuring head 11 and split into two beamlets by a beam splitter 31, with one beamlet being focused at a position coinciding with the entrance end faces of measuring light's position detecting fibers 33(l) to 33(m). The line-shaped light images of the object thus formed in positions coinciding with the entrance end faces of measuring light's position detecting fibers 33(l) to 33(m) are scanned linearly by those linearly aligned fibers as they are oscillated and driven by a fiber scanner 36. The scanned line-shaped light images are then subjected to the necessary signal processing in a signal processor circuit 35 such as to measure the three-dimensional configuration of the object.

  • Patent number: 5781861
Abstract: A method for shedding traffic load in a code division multiple access mobile communication system, the method performing a soft handoff operation using the ratio of the received forward link pilot signal power to the sum of all interference signals power to transfer a portion of traffic load in the present serving cell with a high traffic density to an adjacent cell with a low traffic density. When the amount of traffic load in the present serving cell is increased and thus exceeds a link capacity of the present serving cell, handoff parameters of all mobile stations in the present serving cell can be updated on the basis of a power allocation state managed by a base station without reducing the coverage of a forward link.

  • Patent number: 5777599
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved image processing device which more rapidly provides an image that appears to have a greater resolution by using dithering to an output device having a lower resolution. An interpolator register cooperates with an input register. Dither values are loaded into the interpolator register and added to input data that has been loaded into the input register. The natural carry function of the adder performs any necessary incrementing, and an output register receives the sum, after truncation of as many bits as required to fit the dithered sum into the space available or usable by the display device.

  • Patent number: 5774880
Abstract: A data processing system receives a continuous stream of real time transactional data regarding market transactions of fixed income securities. The incoming data is qualified and then used to determine the term structure of interest rates based on price information. The system provides linear interpolation techniques to complete an operative data set. This set is updated with current trade data, with term structure shifting using pivot points from newly qualified data. An index value for a pre-select portfolio of securities is then calculated and expressed in terms of price relative to par, yield to maturity and duration. In a specific implementation using U.S. Treasuries as the monitored security, the index value supports an automated trading function for futures and/or options contracts based on the change in value of the index. The index provides a more accurate barometer of market changes and a more useful tool in measuring portfolio management for plan sponsors.

  • Patent number: 5760836
Abstract: Method and apparatus for encoding a digital video image stream in an encoder. The encoding includes spatial compression of still images in the digital video image stream and temporal compression between the still images. The spatial compression is carried out by converting a time domain image of a macroblock to a frequency domain image of the macroblock, taking the discrete cosine transform of the frequency domain image, transforming the discrete cosine transformed macroblock image by a quantization factor, and run length encoding the quantized discrete cosine transformed macroblock image. The temporal compression is carried out by reconstructing the run length encoded, quantized, discrete cosine transformed image of the macroblock, searching for a best match macroblock, and constructing a motion vector between them. This forms a bitstream of runlength encoded, quantized, discrete cosine transformed macroblocks and of motion vectors.
