  • Patent number: 9451135
Abstract: Drive unit that consists of two or more strings that are with one end attached to a shaft of a driving motor, and with the other end directly or indirectly coupled to an image capturing device, which is supported by means that allow rotation is disclosed. The twisting strings produce a pulling force on the ends of the strings, which generates a motion of the image capturing device. The invented drive unit does not use gears, belts, pulleys or the like, which reduces the weight, lowers the generated noise, and reduces the parts costs. The invented drive unit including the control unit achieves wide range of motion performances ranging from precise positioning to fast motion, including performance equivalent to a human eye.

  • Patent number: 9448463
Abstract: A digital photographing apparatus includes a focus lens, a focus detection unit that detects focus in a contrast auto focusing (AF) method by moving the focus lens, and a controller that calculates a velocity of a subject from a first focus detection result and a second focus detection result in a continuous shooting operation. The controller restricts a U-turn driving for correcting backlash of the focus lens when the calculated velocity of the subject is equal to or greater than a predetermined value. An AF initiating location and a final correction operation are adaptively adjusted based on the velocity of the subject in each process of the continuous shooting, thereby improving an AF performance and the continuous photographing speed.

  • Patent number: 9445007
Abstract: In some cases, conventional digital zoom techniques can lead to poor quality images. Disclosed are systems and methods for improving the quality of images generated by digital zoom. For example, in some embodiments, a parallel structure is utilized where an image is passed through a sharpener and a 2D directional upscaler at the same time. Upscaling operations are then performed on the sharpened image. The upscaled sharpened image is added to the output of the 2D directional upscaler to produce an enhanced image.

  • Patent number: 9438847
Abstract: An information processing device includes a position acquisition unit to acquire position information periodically. A generating unit generates log data by associating each of the position information with date and time information indicating a date and time at which the position information was acquired. A control unit controls processing for establishing a connection with an image capturing device, and transmitting position information included in the log data to the image capturing device, to add the position information to images recorded on the image capturing device. The control unit performs control so that position information acquired after a predetermined timing, out of position information acquired during connection with the image capturing device, is not transmitted to the image capturing device.
