  • Patent number: 10462279
Abstract: A user of a mobile computing device may provide a first user preference for a first type of event and a second user preference for a second type of event, and the mobile computing device may detect an event comprising reception of the first type of event or the second type of event. The mobile computing device may present, along an edge of a touch-sensitive display of the mobile computing device, a banner alert in response to detecting the first type of event, and may present, on the touch-sensitive display, a pop-up notification in response to detecting the second type of event. The mobile device may dismiss the banner alert based on a user swiping the banner alert off the touch-sensitive display.

  • Patent number: 10437454
Abstract: A user interface includes a tactile interface on a client device that allows users to interact with social networking system content in a manner that is optimized for touch screens and/or devices with limited display area. Stories associated with social networking system users and times are displayed in a scrollable list along with a timeline scrubber identifying different time periods. A position indicator is displayed proximate to the timeline scrubber to identify the time period including one or more times associated with displayed stories. Responsive to received input, details about time intervals included in a time period are displayed or the timeline scrubber appearance is modified to distinguish certain time periods.

  • Patent number: 10419725
Abstract: A user-centric management application system and method for a security system that conceptualizes the security devices and the tasks to perform on the security devices as separate objects with common properties and behavior. Operators of the system create abstract containers, called dockviews, which the operator adds objects to in order to perform specific tasks. Because the operator assigns user access to dockviews and objects, the system tailors system access for both application users and tenants of the security system based on policy objectives. Dockviews have the ability to open in separate application windows to support priority display and isolation of critical management tasks. The system provides integrated user administration, event management and reports capability, a consistent “look and feel,” and system-wide automated event notification via a watchlist window.

  • Patent number: 10375223
Abstract: In a computing device, event notifications take the form of alerts that can be presented in different ways. The particular form of each event notification depends on the nature of the event, the user task being performed at the time the event occurs, the user's preferences, or any combination thereof. In one aspect, the present invention presents event notifications in the form of banner alerts. Obtrusiveness is minimized by presenting the notification at a location near the edge of the screen (such as a bottom edge), and slightly shrinking the active display area to make room for the event notification. In this manner, event notifications can be presented without obscuring any part of the active display area. In addition, the user can obtain more information about the event by activating the notification (for example by tapping on it). In another aspect, the present invention provides a summary of pending event notifications.

  • Patent number: 10360504
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a faceted browser for decision-making that enables interactive visualization of a decision space as choices are made. According to one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises receiving a selection of a first choice from a user. The first choice is displayed in a user interface that includes a plurality of facets, each facet including a plurality of choices. The method further comprises disabling at least one second choice in response to the selection of the first choice, and determining a first result set in response to the selection of the first choice. The user interface is then updated in real-time to display the selected status of the first choice, the disabled status of the second choice, and the first result set to the user.

  • Patent number: 10282080
Abstract: Unique interactive systems and methods that facilitate single-handed navigation and interaction with applications within a display space on any type of mobile computing device are provided. Embodiments include or employ scalable application tiles corresponding to applications, whereby the application tiles can provide or indicate the current state of the corresponding application. State information provided in each tile can vary as well depending on the current size of the tile. Tiles can be arranged into a plurality of zones such that a user can view one zone at a time and obtain context and information from the application tiles in that zone rather than working with all tiles and all zones simultaneously. The view of the display space can be of the world or all application tiles, zone, or application. Panning and zooming among the zones, application tiles and/or views can also be performed.

  • Patent number: 10248931
Abstract: A method for collaborative annotating of a program of multimedia content includes enabling a first user to create a program annotation, enabling the first user to store annotation data, and enabling a second user to access the annotation data. The second user may navigate the program using the annotation and/or view the annotation while viewing the program. The first user may create the annotation while viewing the program, for example, by asserting an annotation button on a remote control device. The annotation may include the frame that was displayed when the user created the annotation, text, audio, an image, or video selected by the viewer. The annotations include chronological information indicative of a chronological location of the annotation within the program. The annotations may include “rating annotations” indicating the author's subjective rating of a portion of the program that is in chronological proximity to the annotation's chronological location.

  • Patent number: 10215685
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products can be used for displaying and analyzing data. A method operates by receiving and displaying flow cytometry data in a tree plot, which represents multiple variations of classified flow cytometry data within an interface of computer that includes an input device. The interface permits a user to select, using the input device, portions of the tree plot associated with characteristics and sub-sets of the data. In an example, one or more histograms, contour plots, density plots, radar plots, and scatter plots representing the data are displayed within the interface. The interface permits a user to select, using the input device, portions of the histograms, contour plots, density plots, radar plots, and scatter plots, corresponding to characteristics and sub-sets of the data. In an example, updated histograms and plots are displayed in the interface substantially immediately based upon selected characteristics and subsets of the data.

  • Patent number: 10175867
Abstract: User input-based object selection using multiple visual cues is described. User selection input is received for selecting a portion of an image. Once the user selection input is received, one of a plurality of visual cues that convey different information about content depicted in the image is selected for each pixel. The one visual cue is selected as a basis for identifying the pixel as part of the selected portion of the image or part of an unselected remainder of the image. The visual cues are selected by determining confidences, based in part on the user selection input, that the plurality of visual cues can be used to discriminate whether the pixel is part of the selected portion or part of the remainder. The information conveyed by the selected visual cues is used to identify the pixels as part of the selected portion or part of the remainder.

  • Patent number: 10169049
Abstract: Dynamic help is generated for a process which is defined by a process model definition stored in a repository. A help request triggers help, and identifies an application system for which help is requested. The application system is in a repository which provides an API that navigates and accesses contained objects and process model definitions in the repository. The processor determines, in response to the help request, which of configurations stored in a dynamic process help generator (DPHG) storage to use to provide help, based on the application system of the help request. The processor obtains, from that configuration, information indicating relations of the repository related to the application system, process models and objects. The processor requests, via the repository API, the process models and objects based on the information obtained from that configuration. The processor provides, as a response to the help request, the relations, process models and objects.
