Abstract: A portable information handling system selectively attaches and detaches housing portions that each include a display for presenting information as visual images. The housing portions align in an attached state to present visual images at each display aligned with each other. Upon detachment, housing portion alignment is compared with each other to present each user interface aligned in a coordinated fashion at the displays by compensating for misalignment of the housing portions.

Certain implementations include a computer-implemented method including: generating a digital audio workstation (DAW) on a display, the DAW including a set of inputs assignable to an audio pin for playback; receiving assigned inputs for the audio pin from selections by a user at the display or at a wearable audio device worn by the user; and rendering the assigned inputs as audio playback at the wearable audio device worn by the user to preview the audio playback associated with the audio pin, where the set of inputs are configured to be rendered as audio playback at the wearable audio device worn by the user in real time as the inputs are assigned.

Abstract: An online training system and support tool that overlays browser-based help pages to guide users through page navigation or processes. Each item on the page when selected can bring up an item specific help tool for that item. An administrator function can pop up to allow the administrator to edit items on the page and provide item specific help tools. In addition, the help overlay can be toggled on and off by toggling the button, where the button on the page is in one condition to show the page with no annotations, and is selected to make the tool active, and to automatically detect the user selecting a specific item and toggling that item.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for dynamically generating menu items in response to a user selection of text in a scripting interface based on a context associated with the text and metadata associated with the text. Using the techniques disclosed herein, a computing system generates one or more menu items in a pop-up menu in response to a selection (e.g., right-click) of text. The computer system enables user customization of the menu items 132 aggregated on the pop-up menu 130, such that the user customization includes defining the task executed by a menu item in response to being selected from the pop-up menu and defining conditions in which the menu item may be generated in the pop-up menu. In some embodiments, machine-learning techniques may be implemented by the computing system to dynamically identify selection trends and predict suitable menu items to propagate on the pop-up menu.

Abstract: Presenting and manipulating task items includes creating a task item within a productivity application in association with a content item created with the productivity application and assigning the task item to one or more users. When the task item has been assigned, the task item is displayed to each user when each users opens the productivity application, or when the productivity application is already open to the user. User activity is then monitored in relation to the content item that is associated with the task item such that metadata for the user activity is captured. Based on the captured metadata, the users are alerted to the user activity that has occurred on the content item.

Abstract: An electronic album is created taking into consideration the intentions of the user regarding electronic album creation. Face images are extracted from among a number of images for an electronic album and the face images are displayed on a display screen. A face image of an important person is dragged and dropped onto an important image setting area, and the face image of a person not required to be included in the electronic album is dragged and dropped onto an excluded image setting area. An electronic album in line with user intentions is created so as to increase the proportion of images of an important person and exclude images of unwanted persons.

Abstract: An approach is provided in which the approach the approach deconstructs a user interface into user interface elements that each are assigned an importance score. The approach compares a user eye gaze pattern of a user viewing the user interface against an expected eye gaze pattern corresponding to the user interface, and determines that the user requires assistance navigating the user interface. The approach selects one of the user interface elements based on its importance score, generates an augmented reality overlay of the selected user interface element, and displays the augmented reality overlay on the user interface using an augmented reality device.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a system and method for selecting an application dialog layout design based on a response pattern for a task-based application. A plurality of user interface layouts may be generated based on a first user interface layout, where the first user interface layout is associated with a task included in a process of a computer-implemented software application. One or more performance metrics associated with each user interface layout of the plurality of user interface layouts may be monitored, where the one or more performance metrics characterize a performance of the task by one or more task users. A second user interface layout may be selected based on an analysis of the one or more performance metrics. The second user interface layout may be provided to a plurality of users of a computer-implemented software application.

Abstract: An electronic mail (email) system generates an email user interface display, with a timeslot actuator, for composing an email message. Actuation of the timeslot actuator is detected and the email system accesses available timeslots from a calendar system corresponding to the user. User selectable display elements, corresponding to each available timeslot, are displayed on the email user interface display, along with message content. When a user selectable display element corresponding to an available timeslot is selected, the email message content is populated with a selectable timeslot element, corresponding to the available timeslot, that can be sent to recipients in the email message.

Abstract: A default virtual interface is replaced by an adapted interface to an independent application. The adapted interface allows one (dependent) application to be accessed from within a second (independent) application. This allows, for example, a game application to be executed within a text messaging application. Output of the dependent application can be conveyed to the base application. The adapted user interface optionally includes a plurality of shortcut keys each represented by a different shortcut icon. One or more of the shortcut keys are optionally configured for sharing the dependent and/or independent applications with remote devices. Content shared via the virtual interface is optionally provided as a data stream and is optionally mapped to a social network, such sharing can be tracked across social networks.

Abstract: Applications are presented for selecting response suggestions in a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Responses are identified for a message received in the GUI. Each response has a score and occupies a width of pixels in the GUI, which provides an available width of pixels for presenting the responses. Further, the method includes an operation for identifying sets of the responses, each set having one or more of the suggested responses. For each set, a utility of the set is calculated based on the score of the responses in the set, the width of pixels of the responses in the set, and the available width of pixels. Further, the set with the greatest utility is selected and then the responses of the set are presented in the GUI. Same principles may be applied to organizing screen layouts for applications that scroll vertically, such as user feeds or search results.

Abstract: In an end user application running on a computer, for the purpose of collaborative modification of shared electronic documents, a graphical user interface is provided that facilitates storing an electronic document in shared storage. This graphical user interface includes a graphical element that conveys information about shared status of the currently accessed electronic document to the end user. Through input devices of the end user computer, an end user can manipulate this graphical element. Certain manipulations of this graphical element instruct the end user computer to store the currently accessed electronic document in shared storage if that electronic document has not yet been stored in shared storage. After the electronic document is stored in shared storage, the graphical user interface facilitates sharing of the electronic document with others. A graphical user interface that allows an electronic document to be quickly shared improves user efficiency and productivity in collaborative authoring.
