    Abstract: A firefighting nozzle that will generate a spray of water in a 360° three-dimensional pattern, giving off a big sphere of fine droplets of water is disclosed herein. The nozzle has a hollow spherical portion rotatably mounted to the end of a rigid tube. Apertures are formed in such a pattern that an efficient mist production is achieved. Furthermore, some of the apertures are provided at such an angle that the water jets exiting these apertures exert a torque sufficient to rotate the nozzle with respect to the rigid tube to which it is mounted. The nozzle may be mounted to the end of a hand carried rigid tube or to the end of an articulated arm of a firefighting truck.

    Abstract: A method for aerosol spraying liquid perfume products consists of simultaneously spraying liquid perfume products and/or components of liquid perfume products, having different odors, in the form of aerosol streams into a region being treated. Aerosol spraying nozzles are placed proximate each other. The simultaneous spraying of at least two components of a liquid perfume product is carried out, and during the spraying the axes of the aerosol streams of the components are positioned at an angle to each other that ensures intersection of the aerosol streams. The spraying is carried out into at least three regions in which at least three different odors are obtained. Wherein, the third odor is formed in a region located between the first and second regions at the intersection of the aerosol streams of the two initial liquid perfume products.

The first valve control chamber communicates fuel with an inflow conduit for fuel pressure on a terminal member of a valve control piston which is displaceable in the housing body and the second valve control chamber communicates with a closable outlet conduit. A mechanical stop for limiting the mobility of the valve control piston in the direction of the second valve control chamber is embodied on the housing body. The quantity of preinjected fuel can be minimized by the volume of fuel in the first valve control chamber.

    Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for the activation of a system which will deliver material such as a fire extinguishant in response to an electrical signal from a fire detector. The mechanism is actuated by a small electrical storage device which operates the system even after a fire or other event has occurred and the normal electrical supply is lost. Upon actuation, a container of pressurized carbon dioxide gas is used to pressurize a container of fire extinguishing fluid, which is then delivered by a spray mechanism to the source of the fire. A feature of the mechanism is that energy levels for initiation are very low, and all other sources of energy are self contained within the mechanism.

The sprinkler trim ring comprises two complementary plates, each having a notch or indents which, when assembled, forms a central aperture fitting around a sprinkler body. The overlapped plates are engaged and secured to each other by screws through slots in the upper plate and screwed into the lower plate. The slots permit sliding of the plates to increase or decrease the tightness on the sprinkler body. Grooves are provided on the bottom of both plates allowing breaking off portions to adapt to a larger sprinkler body and/or to installation site limitations.

Each injection hole is formed such that its injected fuel flow path center diverges from an injection center axis as fuel advances in an injection direction. Respective injected fuel flow path centers diverge from each other as fuel advances in the injection direction. Accordingly, fuel injected from the injection holes do not collide each other and form sprays. Thus, the spray is uniformly atomized, and a deviation of the spray direction is prevented.

    Abstract: A nozzle assembly allows a metered dose of lubricant to be dispensed. It comprises a housing and a piston assembly. The housing defines a piston bore, a stem bore and a spout, all of which axially aligned. It also defines a lubricant passage, an air inlet, and a channel linked to the inlet. Connectable to a source of lubricant, the passage communicates with the stem bore. Connectable to a source of air, the inlet communicates with the stem bore at a position between the passage and spout. The piston assembly has a piston with stem and a spring. The piston lies in the piston bore, its back communicating with the channel. The protrudent end of the stem protrudes into the stem bore and has a groove defined about its circumference. The spring biases the piston assembly into a charge position wherein the groove aligns with the passage. This enables the groove to fill with lubricant.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a machine for unloading a bulk-material bag of the type having a bottom portion, a side portion and a transition portion between the bottom and side portions. The machine includes an apparatus aiding discharge of the material from the bag. In the improvement, the apparatus includes a tri-section panel mounted for movement on the machine, thereby configuring the panel to sequentially contact the bottom, transition and side portions of the bag. The panel has first, second and third segments angle-mounted to one another. In a specific embodiment, the segments are substantially planar. A microprocessor-based controller is coupled to the actuator and regulates its movement as a function of a process parameter, e.g., the compressibility of the bag and/or the weight of the material contained in the bag. A highly preferred embodiment of the machine also has a bag lifting mechanism above the tri-section panel.

    Abstract: An improved inlet control valve is provided for controlling water inflow to an irrigation sprinkler, wherein the inlet control valve exhibits improved tolerance to passage of small grit and debris. The inlet control valve includes a valve member normally engaging a valve seat to prevent water inflow to the irrigation sprinkler, and adapted for movement to a modulated open position to permit water inflow to the sprinkler at a regulated pressure. The valve member carries a flow restrictor disposed upstream from the valve seat to produce, when the valve member is in the open position, a first pressure drop which cooperates with a second pressure drop between the valve seat and valve member to regulate the water inflow pressure. The inclusion of the upstream flow restrictor and the associated first pressure drop effectively reduces the magnitude of the second pressure drop across the valve seat and thereby permits the valve member to open with an increased clearance relative to the valve seat.

The deflector is spaced from the outlet opening and includes a deflector flange with a plurality of projecting members which extend from the deflector flange toward the body flange. Projecting members are radially spaced around the outlet opening to form a plurality of passageways through which the fire suppressant exiting the outlet opening flows to form a generally lateral radial pattern for delivering fire suppressant to the floor area. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus are used to dispense a pheromone in an outdoor setting, such as an orchard (100), to control insects.
