The main control apparatus including a yarn feed rate anticipating unit that represents additional intelligence to the feeders. The yarn feed rate anticipating unit becomes informed about a weaving pattern stored in the main control apparatus memory and transfers a message via a message transfer network to individual feeder programmable control units to accelerate or decelerate in advance of an actual winding-on requirement.

    Abstract: A mat is produced from a single length of rope or other flexible member using a holder assembly which releasably clamps an end of each of a plurality of hollow tubular members. Warp lengths are formed over the clamped tubular members by alternately weaving the lead end of the flexible member over and under adjacent tubes, thereby forming respective groups of aligned loops thereon, until a desired width is obtained. The ends of the tubular members are unclamped from the holder assembly and weft lengths are formed by pushing or drawing the flexible member through the tubular members. A tube is removed from its position within a corresponding group of aligned loops when the pushed lead end emerges therefrom. The ends of the flexible member are wedged alongside a respective weft length to prevent unravelling of the mat.

    Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for producing a band of rectangular cross section having at least two layers of material. The apparatus includes means for advancing a first band along a predetermined linear path and means for guiding a second band into layered alignment with the first band. The apparatus further includes a roll around which the second band is partially wrapped prior to contacting the first band, the second band having an initial tangential contact position with the roll along a line on the surface thereof extending generally axially with respect to the roll. The roll is tiltable in a plane defined by the axis thereof and the initial tangential contact position of the second band, whereby the lateral take-off position of the second band may be controlled by tilting the roll so as to guide it into aligned juxtaposition with the first band to form a layered, substantially rectangular tow band.

Tension P causes the gripping unit (10) and the anchorage plate (8) to separate, thus compressing fluid in chambers (46). This results in the double acting rams (30) biasing the gripping members (14) towards each other under the action of cams (26). If the tension rises above a threshold value the pressurized fluid trips pressure sensitive valve (54) allowing pressurized fluid to reverse reversing valve (55) thus temporarily relaxing the grip on the rope or the like.

    Abstract: A friction winch assembly for securing automobiles or other heavy objects to a transporting vehicle includes a spindle rotatably mounted on the transporting vehicle, a ratchet gear axially mounted on said spindle, and an actuator cap for threaded engagement on said spindle. A chain or other flexible elongated member is connected at one of its ends to the spindle for winding or unwinding thereon, and at its other end to the automobile. To wind the chain and secure the vehicle, the actuator cap is rotated with a tool for longitudinal movement along the spindle toward the ratchet until longitudinal movement is limited by a collar affixed to the spindle. The actuator cap, ratchet and spindle eventually frictionally engage each other sufficiently so that they rotate synchronously with the spindle while the chain is wound, until the chain tension secures the automobile.

Each armature (21) is rotatably mounted on an axis (24) and by its swinging movement, displaces the counterhook into or out of the path of the lifter element hook. The lifter plate (7) can lift the lifter element beyond the working position into a predetermined zone.

    Abstract: A stator coil winding machine for winding a wire around a neck portion of each pole. A spindle through which the wire is inserted is reciprocated in an axial direction thereof. A nozzle is provided at one end of the spindle, and the nozzle is inserted through a slot of a stator core by the axial reciprocation of the spindle. The spindle is reciprocated axially and is reciprocatively rotated at a predetermined angle at opposite ends of the axial reciprocation. Thus, the wire is supplied from the nozzle and is wound around the neck portion. The nozzle is pivotally mounted on the spindle so as to be tiltable in the axial direction of the spindle. In another embodiment, a nozzle swinging device is provided to tilt the nozzle in a direction counter to an advancing direction of the spindle.

    Abstract: A rod-type three-dimensional weaving method and apparatus sends weft rods from within a rod magazine between groups of warp rods consisting of a large number of warp rods disposed parallel to one another by means of rod pushers substantially continuously by automatically changing a used-up magazine with another one filled with a new set of weft rod groups. To achieve such continuous weaving, a sensor senses a point where one of the rods in the magazine reaches the preset limit for a magazine change, and a control unit acting on the signal from the sensor removes the used-up magazine and brings another magazine filled with a new set of rod groups into the rod filling position. Or the same control unit stops the rod pushers on one side and starts feeding weft rods from the opposite side by employing the magazine and rod pushers on the opposite side of the group of warp rods, with a significant reduction in the weaving time.

    Abstract: A measuring weft feeder for fluid jet looms which measures the weft yarn lengths being inserted into the loom shed is disclosed. The weft feeder comprises an electric motor for rotating a winding arm, a drum held stationary around which the arm winds up the yarn into even turns, forming a weft yarn reserve whose length is controlled by means of suitable sensors, and a yarn stopping device. The yarn stopping device includes a rod for engaging and stopping the yarn at the outlet of the feeder. The rod is movable between a withdrawn rest position and a projecting yarn stopping position in which its end moves into a cavity formed for such purpose on the drum periphery, close to the free end thereof. The drum cavity has mounted therein a plurality of bristles positioned transversely to the rod of the yarn stopping device, so that the rod may engage the bristles, crossing them at least partially, when assuming its projected position to stop the weft yarn.
