  • Patent number: 5343896
Abstract: A papermakers fabric having a system of monofilament machine direction yarns (hereinafter MD yarns) which control the permeability of the fabric. The present weave provides for usage of high aspect ratio yarns as structural weave components. The system of MD yarns comprises multiple layers of yarns which are vertically stacked. Preferably, upper MD yarns define floats on the upper surface of the fabric and each upper MD yarn is grouped in a vertically stacked orientation with an intermediate and a lower MD yarn.

  • Patent number: 5343600
Abstract: A worn look carpet weave for an oriental rug consists of a plurality of warp threads that run vertical on two levels, one directly behind the other. A plurality of ground weft threads run horizontal between the two levels of the warp threads, so as to be utilized as a strong foundation for the oriental rug. A plurality of decorative weft-wrapping brocading threads run horizontal, with each looping successively about a group of two of the warp threads on the two levels making a continuous chain structure. The decorative weft-wrapping brocading threads alternates with the ground weft threads, so as to form a very fine tightly made oriental rug.

  • Patent number: 5341851
Abstract: A loom with two or more sectional warp beam, each associated with a measuring device for detecting the length of at least one of the warp threads, which runs off the sectional beam in question during a given advance of warp thread. Each measuring device has a measuring roller which is urged against a number of warp threads, e.g., against the circumference of the wound sectional warp beam and which is driven by them during the advance of warp thread, so that it is able to transmit a corresponding control signal to a control equipment. The control equipment regulates the r.p.m. of the sectional warp beams in dependence upon these control signals in the sense of keeping constant the predetermined length of any given warp thread advance. The invention is particularly useful for weaving off sectional warp beams having different winding diameters for assuring a homogeneous appearance of the weave across its entire width.

  • Patent number: 5335700
Abstract: A weft picking system for an air jet loom provided with a microcomputer as a controller. The weft picking system comprises a weft traction device including a pair of rollers one of which is driven by an inverter motor. A weft yarn fed from a weft measuring and storing device can be put between the rollers to be drawn toward a weft posture regulating nozzle. The weft posture regulating nozzle is arranged to project the weft yarn into the shed of warp yarns while regulating the posture of the weft yarn, under the influence of an air jet ejected therefrom and under assistance of air ejection from a plurality of sub-nozzles. The rollers are always driven to rotate during a weaving operation of the loom. A change-over device is provided to change the weft yarn from a first state of being put between the rollers to a second state of separating from the rollers or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 5335698
Abstract: A method of restarting a loom after an interruption in the weaving process. A cloth fell (15) is moved from an operative or beating position (15) to a second position (15') away from a sley (4). The weft yarn is prevented from being fed into a shed (20) and the loom is then driven in a idling motion for a number of weaving cycles. A shed forming motion 3 and at least one of the warp let-off motion 10 and the cloth take-up motion 12 are driven independently of the predetermined weaving program. When the loom has reached its original dynamic operative state and the warp threads are at the original operative tension, the cloth fell is advanced to the beating position of the sley and the loom is restarted according to the predetermined weaving program. This method prevents visible points of start from occurring in the fabric because of the interruption in the weaving process.

  • Patent number: 5335699
Abstract: A device for forming a shed in weaving machines includes a harness and coupling elements for coupling the harness to a drive mechanism. The height of the harnesses is made adjustable by mounting respective coupling elements on setting screws integrated into the side beams of the harness elements and movable relative to the side beams for enabling individual height adjustment of each harness element relative to its coupling element. Because the height adjustment is done on the harness itself, the height adjustment can be done when the harness is inside as well as outside the weaving machine. The setting screws extend through the side beams to the coupling elements, which are situated below the harness, adjustment being effected by turning the screws from the top of the side beams to move of the harness up and down relative to the ends of the setting screws and coupling elements coupled thereto at the bottom of the side beams.

  • Patent number: 5333651
Abstract: The binding of free weft thread ends at the exit of the weft thread insertion channel in an air weaving loom, into the fabric edge, is to be avoided. For this purpose it is necessary to straighten out the turbulent weft thread ends. The straightening is accomplished by a blowing nozzle that directs its air stream onto the free weft thread ends in a direction substantially defined by the fabric withdrawal. The auxiliary nozzle is arranged in an auxiliary reed section used for forming an auxiliary selvage. Such a blowing nozzle may be combined with a nozzle for stretching the weft thread end.

  • Patent number: 5333771
Abstract: A web threader assembly comprises at least one flexible stainless steel belt to which the leading edge of a web can be detachably affixed. The belt is conveyed through a web path extending through the dryer or other machine in which the web travels, is guided by a plurality of pulleys and tensioning devices, and is positively driven through the dryer or other web processing machine by its own drive system. The belt is extremely thin and thus permits tight sealing of the dryer or other machine requiring a threading operation and also requires no lubrication, and also can be easily cleaned and thus can be used in sterile environments. If the threader is to be used with a relatively wide web, two spaced apart belts are preferably provided and connected threader bar to which the web is attached. An electronic control system monitors operation of the threader assembly and terminates operation of the threader assembly upon breakage or jamming of the web or the belt.

  • Patent number: 5332007
Abstract: The inclusion of faulty weft threads into a fabric being woven on an air nozzle loom is prevented with a minimal effort and expense for equipment and control components. For this purpose a sensor upstream of the weft thread insertion components provides the signal of a fault and this signal starts a thread removal program under the control of the loom control unit. The program is stored in the memory of the central computer of the control unit. According to the program the beat up motion is stopped and a predetermined length of weft thread is passed entirely through the insertion channel. When a predetermined number of weft shots have been made or a predetermined length of time has passed, the program provides a signal for the cut off of the faulty section of the weft thread and the faulty section is sucked out of the insertion channel and collected in a container.

  • Patent number: 5329709
Abstract: A smoothing iron has a water reservoir with a water discharge valve and drip valve. The water discharge valve includes a motion-dependent weight for inhibiting the passage of water from the water reservoir to the steam chamber of the iron when the iron is in a position of rest. When the valve is opened by the pressing motion, water is passed around the valve and through a water conduit to the drip valve which allows passage of the water to the steam chamber. To increase the degree of responsiveness of the water discharge valve, the weight is connected to a sealing body by a connecting rod.
