Abstract: This invention relates to organosiloxanes which have SiC-bonded ester groups and contain at least one unit of the general formula: ##EQU1## is which R represents the same or different monovalent hydrocarbon radicals having from 1 to 12 carbons atoms, which are free of aliphatic unsaturation and which may contain one ether oxygen atom; R' represents hydrogen or a methyl group (CH.sub.3) and a is O, 1 or 2. These organosiloxanes can be prepared by hydrolyzing or co-hydrolyzing silanes of the general formula:ROOCCH.sub.2 CH(COOR)CH.sub.2 CHR'CH.sub.2 Si(CH.sub.3).sub.a X.sub.3-a'where R, R' and a are the same as above and X represents the same or different hydrolyzable atoms or groups. Also, they may be prepared by the addition of a diester of allyl succinic acid and/or methallyl succinic acid to an organosiloxane containing Si-bonded hydrogen. These new organosiloxanes may be used as lubricants for inorganic and organic fibers, metal surfaces and as hydraulic fluids.

Abstract: Alkyl-substituted bicycloalkyl ether compositions useful in the preparation of synthetic lubricant compositions are obtained by reacting an alkyl-substituted 2-norbornene with a monohydric alcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
Abstract: Alkylated 5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalenols are effective antioxidants for fuel oils, lubricating oils, greases, plastics, and rubbers over a wide temperature range. Di- and tri-alkylated tetrahydronaphthalenols are especially effective, with the di- and tri-isopropylated materials being preferred.
Abstract: The oxidation of a lubricating oil caused by metal components can be suppressed effectively by adding to the lubricating oil a compound represented by the formula ##STR1##
Abstract: Bis(hydroxyalkyl)disiloxane lubricants of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 are methyl or ethyl and R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are linear alkyl groups of up to 20 carbon atoms. These compounds are useful as additives to methyl alkyl siloxane lubricants for conductive high density information discs. Discs lubricated with the lubricant mixture exhibit improved stability to environments of high temperature and high relative humidity.
Abstract: In an improved method of forming containers from soft metals comprising coating the metal with a lubricant, forming a cup, drawing the cup and removing the lubricant, wherein the lubricant includes a compound with a melt point less than 65.degree. C., a wax with a melt point less than 50.degree. C., a fatty acid, an amine, thickener and water.
Abstract: An improved high-content animal fat rolling oil formulation used for cold rolling sheet steel and steel strip for tin plate is achieved by adding effective amounts of a saturated dibasic acid containing from 4-4 carbon atoms to an animal fat formulation including:1. refined animal fat,2. minor portions of lubricity additives,3. anti-oxidants, and4. emulsifiers and other additives. This improved rolling oil formulation exhibits a drastically decreased coefficient of friction when applied between two metal surfaces.
