Abstract: In order to achieve lower power consumption, a technique of performing display (partial display) by utilizing only a part of a display area is used. For example, a display area is divided, a plurality of driver circuits for driving the divided display areas independently are provided, and only a region where a fixed pattern is displayed is driven in a power saving mode, thereby partial display is performed; however, display cannot be performed at an arbitrary position. Alternatively, partial display can be performed by inputting a video signal to a pixel in an arbitrary display area; however, a structure of a driver circuit is complicated. The object of the invention is to provide a display device which can perform partial display at an arbitrary position and reduce power consumption. In partial display, operation of a signal line driver circuit is set so as to be stopped and a non-display signal is set so as to be outputted from the signal line driver circuit when a pixel in a non-display area is selected.

  • Patent number: 8982057
Abstract: In an information management system for handling digital position data recorded by an electronic pen, the pen is controlled to convert recordings of a first code on a product to position data in a coordinate system, to convert recordings of a second code to input data, and to process the position data on the basis of the input data. The input data may define one or more functional areas in the coordinate system, and the pen may map the position data against the input data and take appropriate action if the position data is deemed to fall within a functional area. This allows the pen to be dynamically provided with a description of all or parts of the functional layout of a product, thereby reducing the need of the pen to pre-store such descriptions for all products. Encryption or usage may also be controlled based on data encoded by the second code. The product may be generated, via a computer-implemented method, to include the first code, the second code and any supporting graphics.

  • Patent number: 8810542
Abstract: Compensation of pixels included in a touch sensor panel that generate erroneous readings (so called “negative pixels”) due to a poor grounding condition of the object touching the touch sensor panel is disclosed herein. To compensate for the erroneous readings, sense lines of the touch sensor panel can include reverse driving circuits to facilitate calculation of an object-to-ground capacitance. If the calculated object-to-ground capacitance indicates the presence of a poor grounding condition, then the object-to-ground capacitance and detected pixel touch output values are used to estimate new pixel touch output values that are used instead of the detected pixel touch output values to determine touch event(s).
