  • Patent number: 9361283
Abstract: A user interface for viewing imagery associated with a geographic area, such as street level imagery is disclosed. The interface includes at least one text annotation projected in the three-dimensional space defined by the imagery onto a surface, such as a generally vertical surface, of an object depicted in the imagery. For example, the text annotation can be rendered such that the annotation appears to be located along the façade of a building depicted in the imagery. The projection of text annotations in the three-dimensional space can provide a more immersive, augmented reality-style view of the geographic area of interest.

  • Patent number: 9348141
Abstract: A system that includes a head mounted display device and a processing unit connected to the head mounted display device is used to fuse virtual content into real content. In one embodiment, the processing unit is in communication with a hub computing device. The processing unit and hub may collaboratively determine a map of the mixed reality environment. Further, state data may be extrapolated to predict a field of view for a user in the future at a time when the mixed reality is to be displayed to the user. This extrapolation can remove latency from the system.

  • Patent number: 9342930
Abstract: An image or video of a location can be captured using an electronic device. A physical location associated with the image or video can be determined by analyzing the image data, and information about the physical location can be presented to a user of the electronic device. Images or video may include multiple locations, and information about each of the multiple locations can be presented to the user or a single location can be automatically determined and information about the single location can be displayed. Data from other sensors of the electronic device, such as GPS, digital compasses, accelerometers, gyroscopes, barometers, or altimeters, can also be acquired and combined with image analysis to determine a location. The information presented to the user regarding the recognized location may be based on user preferences or user behavior of the specific user of the electronic device, or a community of users who share demographic traits with the specific user.
