  • Patent number: 8971249
Abstract: An application execution unit executes an application, and a communication ID acquisition unit acquires a communication identifier set for the application. When a packet generation unit generates a packet including a communication identifier and data, a transmission unit transmits the packet in an IBSS identified by an SSID stored in a SSID storing unit. When a reception unit receives a packet from another terminal device, a determination unit determines whether the communication identifier acquired by the communication ID acquisition unit matches a communication identifier included in the received packet. When the determination unit determines that the acquired communication identifier matches the communication identifier included in the received packet, a data supply unit provides data included in the received packet to the application.

  • Patent number: 8934362
Abstract: A power control method to mitigate in-device coexistence (IDC) interference is provided. A wireless communication device (UE) is equipped with a first LTE radio module and a second co-located WiFi/BT/GSNN radio module. Upon detecting coexistence or IDC interference, the UE applies power control method to mitigate the interference. In a first embodiment, the LTE radio module adjusts its power parameters locally without informing the serving eNB. In a second embodiment, the LTE radio module adjusts its power parameters and implicit informs the eNB through existing PHR reporting. In a third embodiment, the LTE radio module changes its power or power class and explicitly informs the eNB through UE capability or new RRC message or MAC CE. Power control can be used as a low cost and lightweight solution before applying other heavyweight solutions that either require more resource or control overhead, or have higher impact on throughput.

  • Patent number: 8908500
Abstract: The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for protecting bonding engines in network communications. In one exemplary embodiment, physical communication links, such as subscriber lines, of a bonding group are terminated by a plurality of access modules such that at least some of the communication links remain operational in the event of a failure of one of the access modules. Further, a backup bonding engine is used to protect the group's bonding engine. In the event of a failure or other operational problem associated with the group's bonding engine, the backup bonding engine is used to fragment incoming messages and to send the fragments to the operational subscriber lines. Thus, the bonding group can survive an operational failure of the group's bonding engine.

  • Patent number: 8842553
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for improving utilization of a communications system (e.g., a satellite communications system) are provided through techniques referred to herein as “deltacasting.” Some embodiments use a server-side optimizer to intercept and create fingerprints of byte-level content data traversing links of the communications system. The content fingerprints are used to transparently identify communications patterns (e.g., repetitious downloads of the same content, correlations between users, etc.), which may then be used in exploiting multicasting and/or other opportunities for increased utilization of the communication links.
