The semi-hemispherical body includes a concave inner wall extending inwardly from the rim to define a cavity, a convex outer wall extending from the rim opposite the inner wall, and an interior wall extending between the inner wall and the outer wall and defining an opening at an apex of the semi-hemispherical body. The semi-hemispherical body is adapted to deflect and modify the opening, when pressed against a head of a screw, to accept the head of the screw within the opening. A system that includes the trial liner and the screw, and a method for using the system in a surgical procedure, are also disclosed.
Abstract: A curved inflatable bone tamp includes an outer shaft defining a passageway. An inner shaft is positioned within the passageway. The inner shaft extends between opposite first and second end. The inner shaft defines a lumen. The inner shaft is curved between the first end and the second end. A first leg of a balloon is coupled to the outer shaft and a second leg of the balloon is coupled to the inner shaft such that a material can flow through the lumen and into the balloon to inflate the balloon. The balloon includes a wall having a variable thickness between the legs when the balloon is uninflated and a uniform thickness between the legs when the balloon is inflated. Kits, systems and methods are disclosed.
Abstract: Systems and methods for placement of both the prosthetic acetabular cup and the prosthetic femoral head which takes account of the patient's particular anatomy, with inter-operative testing of the patient's body to find an optimum positioning (angles) for the components. The system allows a procedure with less pre-operative and inter-operative imaging, providing for reduced radiation exposure for doctors and patients.
Abstract: An access assembly includes an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the instrument valve housing. The instrument valve housing includes upper and lower housing sections. The valve assembly includes a centering mechanism, a seal assembly, and a guard assembly. The centering mechanism is configured to bias the valve assembly towards a generally centered position within the instrument valve housing. The centering mechanism includes a base seal member having an annular base and a flange portion. The flange portion includes an arcuate portion configured to adjustably engage first and second surfaces of the instrument valve housing in a sealing relation. The seal assembly is attachable to the centering mechanism. The seal assembly is configured to engage a surgical instrument inserted into the access assembly in a sealing relation. The guard assembly is attachable to the centering mechanism.

Abstract: A system for use during an orthopaedic surgical procedure includes a femoral broach, an acetabular cup component, and an acetabular alignment guide. The femoral broach includes a mounting post positioned at a superior end of an elongated body. The cup component includes a distal rim and a curved surface extending inwardly from the rim to define a cavity. The alignment guide includes a distal end configured to be coupled to the mounting post and a proximal end configured to be coupled to the distal rim. When coupled to the femoral broach, the guide instrument is sized to orient the acetabular cup component relative to the femoral broach. The acetabular cup component may be a prosthetic cup component or a trial instrument corresponding to the prosthetic cup component.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a positioning device comprising a plate holder with a first fastening device for releasably fastening the plate holder to the plate, and with a second fastening device; a receptacle for an adjustment device, wherein the adjustment device comprises at least one navigation device, and wherein the navigation device is designed to receive, at least in sections, an interlocking device, and/or an instrument for acting on the interlocking device and/or; wherein the receptacle comprises at least one third fastening device or is connected thereto; wherein one element from the group consisting of the second fastening device and the third fastening device comprises a hole section with a plurality of holes, and wherein the other element of the group is designed as an insertion section, wherein the insertion section and the holes are designed for releasably connecting the second fastening device to the third fastening device.
Abstract: A reaming instrument includes a reamer head having a cutting face rotatable about a cutting face axis and a drive shaft operably connected to the cutting face at a point spaced radially outwardly from the cutting face axis.
Abstract: An acetabular cup guide can include a distal end (11) shaped to allow removable connection to a surgical instrument (16), a proximal end including one or more contact surfaces (4, 5) shaped to conform to an acetabulum, and a central proximal-distal axis extending through the acetabular cup guide. At least one of the one or more contact surfaces can be configured such that it is deflectable towards the central proximal-distal axis in order to reduce an axial cross-section of the acetabular cup guide.
Abstract: The present device described herein is intended to effect the removal of an intramedullary component of an orthopaedic prosthetic implant. The extraction device utilizes a hook which can be secured to the implant, particularly the neck of a femoral prosthetic component. The hook is attached to an elongated member that contains two striking surfaces. A force applied to the striking surface(s) is transmitted to the prosthesis so as to extract the implant from the intramedullary cavity of a bone.
