  • Patent number: 11653965
Abstract: A bone plate bending tool includes a substantially rod-shaped first member having a first sandwiching surface, a substantially rod-shaped second member slidable along a side part of the first member and having a second sandwiching surface, and a connection tubular member connected to the second member and enclosing a peripheral surface of the first member. A projection on one of the sandwiching surfaces is insertable into a through-hole of the bone plate and does not prevent the bone plate from being sandwiched between the sandwiching surfaces. The connection tubular member is axially movable on the peripheral surface of the first member while the second member is disposed on the first member's side part. The connecting tubular member that has moved axially forward restricts expansion between the sandwiching surfaces. The sandwiching surfaces, together with the forward-moved connecting tubular member, sandwich and immovably hold a peripheral edge of the bone plate through-hole.

  • Patent number: 11653981
Abstract: In another embodiment, a hip joint navigation jig is provided that includes an anatomical interface comprising a bone engagement portion. A registration jig is also provided that is coupled, e.g., removeably, with the anatomical interface. A rotatable member is provided for rotation about an axis that is not vertical when the jig is mounted to the bone adjacent to a hip joint and the registration jig is coupled with the anatomical interface. An anatomy engaging probe is coupled with the rotatable member for rotation about the axis and is translatable to enable the probe to be brought into contact with a plurality of anatomical landmarks during a procedure. An inertial sensor is coupled with the probe to indicate orientation related to the landmarks, the sensor being disposed in a different orientation relative to horizontal when the probe is in contact with the landmarks.

  • Patent number: 11583294
Abstract: Tools and methods for expanding a precursor hole in a host material to receive a fixture. The precursor hole is enlarged by a rotary tool having helical flutes and interposed lands. The flutes have a negative rake angle. The lands each have a working edge that cuts the host material when the tool is rotated in a cutting direction, and that condenses the host material when the tool is rotated in a densifying direction. The body of the rotary tool has a stopper section that plugs the hole when a certain depth is reached. When the tool is used with a copious wash of irrigating fluid at or below the necessary depth, hydraulic pressure builds inside the precursor hole. The hydraulic pressure can be advantageously exploited in cutting mode to autograft a slurry of host material particles into the sidewalls of the hole and create an incipient densifying crust.
