  • Patent number: 10250475
Abstract: A method and system for measuring application response delay is described. The method may commence with receiving a Domain Name System (DNS) request from a client DNS server. The method may include measuring round trip time between the client DNS server and a first Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) controller, between the first GSLB controller and a server load balancer (SLB) collocated with the first GSLB controller, and between the SLB and an application server. The method may further include receiving measurements of round trip time between the client DNS server and a second GSLB controller, between the second GSLB controller and an SLB collocated with the second GSLB controller, and between the second GSLB controller and a further application server. A cumulative response time associated with the application servers may be calculated based on the measurements to select an application server having a lowest cumulative response time.

  • Patent number: 10244038
Abstract: The present application details exemplary methods and systems for providing current state information to multiple active datacenters within a network-based communication system. For example, a datacenter can detect an event that occurs within the network-based communication system. Upon detecting the event, the datacenter can update a state table on the datacenter based on state information associated with the event. In addition, the datacenter can send a state information message to other datacenters in the network-based communication system. The state information message can include state information associated with the event. The other datacenters in the network-based communication system can update their respective state tables using the state information in the state information message without needing to individually process the event.

  • Patent number: 10178150
Abstract: A method, computer program product and system for eye contact-based information transfer. Communication is established by a computer device between a first head mounted device worn by a first user and a second head mounted device worn by a second user. Gaze tracking establishes through gaze tracking of the first head mounted device and the second head mounted device that the first head mounted device and the second head mounted device have made eye contact. Responsive to an input to at least one of the first head mounted device and the second head mounted device made while the first head mounted device and the second head mounted device have established eye contact, a computer device transfers a file between the first head mounted device and the second head mounted device.

  • Patent number: 10164927
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of unsubscribing a recipient of an electronic message may comprise identifying and extracting an unsubscribe Universal Resource Indicator (URI) from the electronic message and carrying out a dynamic unsubscribe scenario if the extracted unsubscribe URI does not match a known unsubscribe URI pattern. The dynamic unsubscribe scenario may comprise instructions that are selectively executed depending on contents of a single unsubscribe form in a webpage pointed to by the extracted unsubscribe URI. These instructions may comprise finding and filling in a single input field in the webpage that is relevant to unsubscribing with an electronic address of the recipient or finding and updating a user interface element that is relevant to unsubscribing. The single unsubscribe form with the filled in single relevant input field or updated user interface element may then be submitted and a determination may be made whether an unsubscribe confirmation message was generated.

  • Patent number: 10157371
Abstract: Social networking system users may create events where a group of other users invited to the event meet at a specified time and location. While an inviting user initially specifies the group of users to invite to the event, the social networking system suggests additional users to invite to the event. The social networking system suggests additional users based on a prediction that the users would attend the event if invited. Various factors may be used to make the prediction, such as an affinity between the inviting user and the other users, the availability of the other users at the time of the event and/or the proximity of the other users to the location of the event. Invitations to the suggested additional users may be automatically sent or sent to a set of the additional users selected by the inviting user.

  • Patent number: 10153918
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method, for a first cluster manager (CM), for adding an application instance (AI) to a cluster operating across several datacenters. The method identifies a first AI to add to the cluster and a second AI that already belongs to the cluster, and sends a request to add the first AI to a second CM that operates on a same machine as the second AI. The request includes an address for the first AI and a datacenter identifier that indicates a datacenter in which the first AI operates. From the second CM, the method receives a cluster topology that identifies several AIs of the cluster within the several datacenters. The topology includes a datacenter identifier for each of the identified AIs. The method processes data sent between the first AI and other AIs of the cluster according to an overlay network defined by the received topology.

  • Patent number: 10129081
Abstract: Embodiments are described for systems and methods that facilitate dynamic configuration of NPIV virtual ports in a Fiber Channel network environment. SCSI target endpoints are virtualized through NPIV mapping mechanisms. The assignment of many virtual ports to one or more base ports through the NPIV mapping allows data storage systems to be reconfigured dynamically or on-the-fly while the system is up and running. This also allows movement of virtual ports among physical ports, or even among different systems in the network. In a highly available system, such as critical data recovery systems, the ability to migrate data on-the-fly by moving endpoints port-to-port or system-to-system greatly facilitates the ability for data to be maintained and protected in a non-disruptive manner.

  • Patent number: 10069938
Abstract: Examples are generally directed towards managing query responses. A server receives an unspecified property request associated with a resource. The request identifies a resource and omits a property field parameter. A set of instances associated with the resource is identified. An identifier for each instance in the set of instances is identified to form a set of identifiers. The server returns only the set of identifiers to the client as a response to the unspecified property request. On determining the server has received a types-feed request from the client, the server identifies all possible property types for the resource to form a list of all property types. The server returns the list of all property types to the client as a response to the types-feed request.

  • Patent number: 10033570
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a distributed map reduce network. An aspect includes receiving a description of a map reduce job comprising a time deadline. Another aspect includes selecting a set of candidate nodes from a plurality of nodes of the distributed map reduce network, wherein the set of candidate nodes are selected based on cost value. Another aspect includes determining an amount of time required to perform the map reduce job by the set of candidate nodes. Another aspect includes, based on the determined amount of time not meeting the time deadline: selecting a particular node of the set of candidate nodes for replacement based on the geographical location of the particular node; selecting a next node of the plurality of nodes based on the cost value of the next node; and replacing the particular node in the set of candidate nodes with the next node.

  • Patent number: 9917738
Abstract: Examples of the disclosure enable messages, such as syslog messages, rsyslog messages, and/or syslog-ng messages, to be efficiently and effectively routed. In some examples, it is determined whether a transmitting device associated with a message is associated with one or more device classes. Upon determining that the transmitting device is not associated with one or more device classes, the transmitting device is associated with a device class, and a rule set for determining whether the transmitting device is associated with one or more device classes is updated. A recipient for the message is identified, such that the message is configured to be accurately routed to the recipient. Examples of the disclosure manage messages to increase system functionality, increase speed, conserve memory, reduce processor load, increase communication reliability, and/or reduce communication error rate.
