Abstract: A document editing apparatus capable of reducing the total number of pages of a document includes an area generation unit configured to generate a blank area including margins of a document as its objects, an area editing prohibition unit configured to prohibit deletion of blank areas designated by a user from among a plurality of blank areas of the document, and an area reduction unit configured to reduce the blank area whose deletion is prohibited by the area editing prohibition unit in a direction of columns of the document. The document editing apparatus reduces the total number of pages of a document by prohibiting the deletion of an arbitrarily designated blank area and arranging objects located in rear portions of the document in the margin generated by reducing the blank area in the direction of the columns of the document by using the area reduction unit.

Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product generate and present a webpage on a user interface. A request for an initial page view of an initial page is transmitted from a client computer to a server-side layout manager in a server that is OSGi enabled. The client computer receives a copy of the initial page view, a client-side rendering engine, and a client-side layout manager from the server. The client-side layout manager parses out client-side controllers from the client-side layout manager to determine which views are to be pre-fetched before generating a requested webpage. The client-side layout manager invokes the client-side rendering engine to pre-fetch and cache selected views of particular webpages. The client-side layout manager then invokes the client-side rendering engine to build and render the requested webpage from the initial page view and one or more of the cached views.

Abstract: An automatic abstract determination method of a document clustering is disclosed. The method includes forming a database for correspondingly packing and storing each document clustering including several abstract contents and body contents of subdocuments preloaded by a user as a document clustering process record file. Each document clustering process record file records the original abstract contents and the body contents of the subdocuments, and sets several determination values for analysis. When the user wishes to browse the contents of one document clustering, the method then determines whether or not to generate new abstract contents which is much more closer to the key points of the body contents to all of the subdocuments in the document clustering, according to the contents and values recorded in the corresponding document clustering process record file of the document clustering.

Abstract: A document management apparatus includes a generating unit, a setting unit, a determining unit, and a deleting unit. The generating unit generates a new document from a base document. The setting unit sets the new document as a document which belongs to a document group to which the base document belongs. The determining unit determines whether or not a document group to which a selected document belongs includes a document which was generated or last viewed less than a reference time period ago. The deleting unit deletes the selected document if the document group does not include a document which was generated or last viewed less than the reference time period ago, and does not delete the selected document if the document group includes a document which was generated or last viewed less than the reference time period ago.

Abstract: Individual slides of a live presentation are isolated and processed in real-time. A digital presentation document comprising multiple slides in a specific sequence is read. For each specific slide in the presentation document, a corresponding separate slide object can be created. While the slides of the presentation are being displayed on a video output device, users can bookmark the specific slide currently being displayed. Associations are stored between specific users and their bookmarked slides, which can be used to subsequently provide the individual bookmarked slides to the corresponding users. Users can also post links to specific slides being displayed to their accounts on various sites, such as third-party social networking sites. Additionally, the specific slide currently being displayed on the video output device can be maintained at a single specific network location, which can be accessed by users operating mobile computing devices.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a self-enclosed timeline trimmer to create a circular timeline placed over a video that graphically represents the entire duration of a video. The self-enclosed timeline trimmer generates a self-enclosed timeline to represent a duration of the video incremented according to a first unit of time. The self-enclosed timeline is layered over at least a portion of the video. The self-enclosed timeline trimmer represents a start of the video on the self-enclosed timeline and an end of the video on the self-enclosed timeline. The self-enclosed timeline trimmer displays the duration of the video in its entirety by connecting the start and the end of the video on the self-enclosed timeline. Further, the self-enclosed timeline trimmer is well suited for video editing on mobile computer devices, wireless computer devices, and for portable computer devices.

Abstract: A computational device receives a first text message in a text messaging format from a mobile device to access a website that stores information in a markup language format. The computational device converts one or more elements of the stored information from the markup language format to the text messaging format. The computational device sends a second text message that indicates how to interact with the website in the text messaging format to the mobile device.

Abstract: A method for providing a search service and a display apparatus applying the same are provided. According to the search service providing method, a search window for doing an Internet search is displayed on a partial area of the screen that displays an image. The search window can be converted into an image display window in response to receiving a specific manipulation input by a user, thereby allowing the user to use the search service while converting between the use of the search window and video watching.

Abstract: A portable electronic device with first and second modes, the first mode, associated with allowing for the availability of one or more of a first level of power consumption and processor activity for the portable electronic device, and allowing general unlocked user interaction with the user interface of the portable electronic device; the second mode, associated with allowing for the availability of one or more of a second level of power consumption or processor activity, and allowing locked user interaction with the user interface; and the locked user interaction allowing for the provision of one or more specific limited user inputs using the user interface, to directly interact with associated second mode output provided using the user interface in the second mode, the one or more specific limited user inputs not being associated with general unlocking of portable electronic device to enter the first mode of operation.

Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a flip ahead input, such as a gesture, provides touch users with an ability to easily navigate various websites. The flip ahead input can be utilized to advance to the next portion of relevant content. In at least some embodiments, the flip ahead input resides in the form of a forward swipe. In one or more embodiments, the flip ahead input is configured to be utilized in association with an aggregated browsing history from multiple users. The aggregated browsing history is analyzed to generate rules that are then downloaded to a client device and used by a suitably-configured web browser to ascertain the next portion of content when a flip ahead input is received.

Abstract: Scorecard data including scorecard views, and the like are exported to a presentation application for generating a presentation based on the scorecard data. Briefing book definitions are generated based on the scorecard data, default parameters and user-defined parameters for providing a user selections for the presentations. Using composite objects, scorecard and report views may be reformatted, resized, laid out, and paginated according to the presentation preferences. Once the user selections are received the presentation may be rendered generating charts based on the data, grouping and breaking down views, incorporating unstructured data, and the like.

Abstract: A visualization-based interactive legal research tool that generates from a multi-dimensional citation network a semantics-constrained citation sub-network that focuses on one individual issue in which a user is interested, and puts the sub-network on an interactive user interface (“UT”), which allows the researcher to browse, navigate, and jump over to start new sub-networks on different issues that are relevant to original issues.

Abstract: Gadgets integrate with spreadsheets and the spreadsheet calculation engine. A gadget is bound to a range of cells (one or more) within a sheet. When one or more of the cells of the bound range is accessed (e.g. selected, hovered over, edited, deleted, added), the gadget is notified. The gadget may use this information for updating a display rendered by the gadget and/or performing some other action. The gadget uses an Application Programming Interface (API) to create the binding, communicate with the spreadsheet, and perform actions in the spreadsheet. The gadget is a Named Item object within the spreadsheet such that the gadget may be viewed/displayed differently from other objects. Out of date requests from the gadget are attempted to be detected and prevented from being processed such that the gadget is not acting on the latest data.

Abstract: An edition control system includes a screen manager managing UI part information indicating a UI part displayable on a UI screen; a user information manager managing screen configuration information of the UI screen for each of users; an edition controller, when receiving a display request, generating screen information of the UI screen based on the UI part information and the screen configuration information corresponding to the user of the display request; a Web application controller generating Web screen information of a Web screen; and a Web browser displaying the Web screen based on the Web screen information. Further, upon acquiring the edition information from the Web application controller, the edition controller sets the screen configuration information of the UI screen based on the edition information in the user information manager.

Abstract: Web contents prepared for browsing by a PC is converted into an image showing a view when the webpage is browsed using a PC. Pieces of UI information are extracted from the web contents and XY coordinate values of each piece of UI information are acquired. This information indicates positions where the pieces of UI information are arranged on the image. A mobile terminal displaying the image controls these pieces of UI information. Accordingly, web contents for a PC are rapidly browsed and operated on a mobile terminal and so on, without deterioration in design of the web contents.
