Abstract: The present invention provides electronic methods and apparatus for interactively authoring, sharing and analyzing digital video content. Methods for authoring include displaying visual data, defining each traversal as a time-based sequence of frames and annotating and storing a record of the traversal and its associated audio records. Defining the traversal Includes interactively panning the visual data by positioning an overlay window relative to the visual data and zooming in or out by resizing the overlay window. In alternative embodiments, the visual data may be displayed in a rectangular layout or a cylindrical layout. The methods are practiced using an integrated graphical interface, including an overview region displaying the visual data, a detail region displaying current data within the overlay window, and a worksheet region displaying a list of previously stored annotated traversal records.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and device for coding a structured document comprising events to be coded having values. A particular, non-exclusive, application of the present invention is the coding of the XML document as a file of the EXI type. The method comprises the following steps: running through the document in order to process events; forming channels of values containing values of events according to at least one criterion; coding the channels of values thus formed by coding the event values of each of these channels of values by means of at least one coding dictionary; method wherein the formation device comprises, for each event to be coded and run through having a value, the association of this value to be coded with one of said channels by reference, in said channel, to an entry in the coding dictionary.

Abstract: A process and system for partitioning hybrid markup language documents (HMLDs) is disclosed. Content from an HMLD is copied to one or more output markup language documents (MLDs), which may be well-formed or valid MLDs. The HMLD is segmented at partition boundaries within the document, while state information is recorded in a tag stack. The state information is used to complete the output MLD, which may be sent to a software module for processing. The HMLDs and MLDs may be well-formed or valid extensible markup language (XML) documents.

Abstract: A layout method for an operation key group in a portable terminal apparatus 1 that displays an operation key group on a display unit 4 to perform input operation via a touch panel 5, the layout method including: determining, on the basis of user operation for drawing a line figure on the touch panel 5, a display position and a range of an operation key group displayed on the display unit 4; and displaying the operation key group on the display unit 4 on the basis of the determined display position and the range.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates use of an application. During operation, the system obtains a visual annotation of a user interface for the application, in which the visual annotation corresponds to a user issue with the user interface. Next, the system uses the visual annotation to update a spatial map of user issues with the user interface. Finally, the system uses the visual annotation and the spatial map to facilitate use of the application by an end user.

Abstract: A system of forming a help file in a computer system, including an external configuration file containing information about a computer application running on the computer system, a help file having at least one page of help and an internal configuration file, and a control element to generate the at least one page of help according to the internal configuration file, wherein the control element incorporates the information from the external configuration file to the at least one page of help upon activation of the pages of help.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products for facilitating the simultaneous (e.g., side-by-side or via a “sliding” animation) displaying and viewing of email messages and any attachments to such email messages are disclosed. Such systems, methods and computer program products allow a user of a computing system to simultaneously view the textual portion of an email along with the contents of any attachments within one application, and without the need to switch between at least two software applications—the email reader application and the native (productivity) application used to create such attachment (e.g., a word processing software application, a spreadsheet application, a presentation application, a database application, a portable document format reader, a Web browser and/or the like).

Abstract: An education digital reading platform provides a visualization interface displaying visual object elements of a document to a user. A visual object element may include images, videos, charts, tables, etc. The visual objects may be identified in a document by extracting metadata associated with the document. Additionally, the ideas or concepts represented by the visual object elements may be identified by analyzing the document, and content related to the ideas or concepts may be identified and associated with the visual object elements. The related content may include user generated content or content stored in one or more databases. The related content is provided to a user in the visualization interface wherein the user may access the related content. The interface allows a user to navigate a document by moving from one visual object element to another.

Abstract: A window displaying at least one video clip and at least one highlight element is presented in a graphical user interface on a mobile device having a touch screen interface. Thereafter, user-generated input is received via the graphical user interface selecting one of the at least one highlight element during display of the at least one video clip. In response to the user-generated input, at least one thumbnail is displayed (concurrently with the window in the graphical user interface) that corresponds to a segment of the video clip being displayed. A video file is then generated or modified that includes for at least one thumbnail, the corresponding segment of the video clip. Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for dynamic e-meeting summarization is described. A method may comprise monitoring behavior of an e-meeting participant and determining one or more portions of an e-meeting to summarize for the e-meeting participant based upon, at least in part, the behavior of the e-meeting participant. The method may further comprise determining a summary-content time-frame for the e-meeting participant based upon, at least in part, the one or more portions of the e-meeting to summarize for the e-meeting participant, the summary-content time-frame corresponding to an amount of time for the e-meeting participant to consume a summary of the e-meeting. The method may additionally comprise generating, during the e-meeting, the summary of the e-meeting in accordance with the summary-content time-frame for the e-meeting participant, the summary of the e-meeting based upon, at least in part, the one or more portions of the e-meeting.

Abstract: An audio apparatus contains a plurality of playable files stored in a database and organized in folders. The folders can be listed in a manner understandable at a glance even when viewed on a small display area and when the hierarchical structure shows a minimum level of detail. A folder selection section selects a folder from a database, and a directly-under-folder detection section detects if a playable file exists directly under a folder selected. A folder-under-folder detection section detects if a playable file exists directly under any folder located under the selected folder assuming no playable file exists directly under the selected folder.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for generation of page templates are provided. The method includes providing a document in computer memory. Using a computer processor, page elements within the document are identified and labeled. For each page of the document, a set of geometric relations between pairs of page elements co-occurring on the page is computed, and the set of geometric relations is associated with the page. The method also includes generating a set of page template candidates based at least in part on the computed geometric relations, selecting page templates from the set of page template candidates, and outputting the selected page templates.

Abstract: A remote control unit of an air conditioning apparatus includes a display unit, a cursor-moving member, a confirmation member, and a controller. The display unit displays a menu and a cursor that indicates an item among a plurality of items inside the menu and is moved by the cursor-moving member when operated by a user. The confirmation member is configured to decide that the item is to be executed. The controller controls the display unit in response to the cursor-moving member or confirmation member being operated. The controller positions an item corresponding to a predetermined input at the top of the menu upon receiving the predetermined input.

In the apparatus, a network interface transmits and receives data to and from the at least one multimedia device. A display displays a screen. A controller controls to display at least one place selection menu indicating a place in which the at least one multimedia device is located on the screen, display, upon selection of the at least one place selection menu, at least one player selection menu indicating a player located in the place, on the screen, and display at least one source selection menu indicating a source capable of outputting contents to the player on the screen, upon selection of the at least one player selection menu.

Abstract: In a computing environment, a method for treating display characteristics of input displayed via a user interface includes receiving input from a user interface, the input including at least one character, determining the scope of the input, categorizing input into at least one category, and applying at least one display treatment to the input associated with at least one category, wherein the display treatment is applied as each character is received from the user interface.

Abstract: This invention provides an information processing apparatus capable of more reliably preventing inconvenience to the user, that may occur upon a transition of the Web page using the display history of a Web browser. The information processing apparatus can communicate with a Web server via a network and displays, in a Web browser, a screen provided by the Web server. A holding unit holds the display history of a Web page that is previously displayed in the Web browser. A determination unit refers to the display history held in the holding unit to determine whether a Web application different from that activated at the latest time via the Web browser is activated. A deletion control unit deletes the display history held in the holding unit if the determination unit determines that the different Web application is activated.

Abstract: A browser-executable software program for presenting a web page that provides the “look and feel” and functionality of a mobile application can be automatically generated from a mobile application specification. The mobile application specification identifies one or more predetermined content component types and one or more associated content sources. For each content component type, a copy of a corresponding code generation template is populated with a URL for each corresponding content source and executed to produce browser-executable program code. The browser-executable program code is then embedded into a populated copy of a navigation container code template to form a complete browser-executable software program, which is integrated into an HTML page. The HTML page can be returned in response to a request from a browser executing on a networked mobile wireless telecommunication computing device and the HTML page carries the browser-executable software program to the browser.

Abstract: A method and system for truncating character strings in a computing environment. One implementation involves receiving a list including plural character strings, truncating one or more of the character strings to generate a display list of unique character strings based on determining a truncation location within each string by: for each character string, comparing the string and corresponding Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), if the string is different from the URI, then truncating the beginning of the string, otherwise if the string matches the URI, then truncating the end of the string.
