  • Patent number: 8145252
Abstract: A method for reducing inter-cell interference (ICI) in a mobile communication system controls transmission signal power of an uplink signal from a terminal based on signal power measurement for a signal received from a base station of a neighboring cell. A terminal receives a signal from a base station of a neighboring cell via a wireless channel, measures a channel response against a threshold value across an applicable frequency band by using the received signal, determines a transmission signal power for each frequency band used for data transmission based on the measured channel response, and transmits data to a home cell base station according to the transmission signal power for each frequency band. The terminal may measure a channel response based on signals received from multiple base stations in multiple neighboring cells, and may also evaluate signal power of a signal transmitted from the home cell.

  • Patent number: 8145121
Abstract: The embodiments relate to a wireless communication system that counts UEs using an MBMS. The wireless communication system is connected with a UE through a radio link, and includes a Node B and a controlling radio network controller (CRNC). The Node B receives sequence setting information on a sequence included in a preamble transmitted from the UE network manager. The CRNC controls the Node B, detects a sequence according to whether to use an MBMS based on the sequence setting information, and performs a counting process for counting UEs based on whether the UE uses the MBMS. According to the embodiments, counting of UEs using an MBMS can be performed by using a predetermined sequence. Particularly, the counting process can be simplified by reducing complexity in access probability management of a network manager, thereby increasing efficiency in data transmission by reducing signaling for random access probability and omitting a random access probability calculation process.

  • Patent number: 8126396
Abstract: A wireless network infrastructure that adapts frame parameters of concurrent interfering and MIMO transmission and receptions in response to dynamically varying channel conditions. The channel conditions are determined by number of associated wireless end point devices within a cell, their capabilities, anticipated bandwidth usage, QOS (Quality Of Service) demands, priority of service and idle states, cell overlap interferences, near-far interferences and noises. The wireless network infrastructure consists of an access point that is adapted to transmit concurrent interfering transmissions, using a multiple input/multiple output scheme. The access point responds to the dynamically varying channel conditions by adapting the frame parameters of the concurrent interfering transmissions and parameters of multiple input/multiple output schemes.

  • Patent number: 8095073
Abstract: A mobile station includes an adjustable member for increasing a separation distance between an audio signal output device and an electronic circuit to reduce EMI proximate the audio signal output device caused by the electronic circuit. In one embodiment, the adjustable member comprises a slide member that extends at least a portion of the audio signal output device away from the electronic circuit to increase the separation distance. In another embodiment, the adjustable member comprises a pivot member that rotates the electronic circuit (or audio signal output device) away from the audio signal output device (or electronic circuit) to increase the separation distance. In any event, increasing the separation distance between the audio signal output device and the electronic circuit decreases the EMI proximate the audio signal output device, and therefore EMI effects on external circuits proximate the mobile station, such as a hearing aid.

  • Patent number: 8081932
Abstract: A transceiver front-end provides an interface between a transmission medium and transmitter, and between a transmission medium and receiver. The transceiver front-end includes a hybrid circuit, a high-pass filter, and a gain stage, that permits the reduction or the complete elimination of buffer amplifiers. Buffer amplifiers can be eliminated because the hybrid circuit and/or the high-pass filter are adapted so that they can be directly connected to each other, without a loss in circuit performance. Furthermore, the high-pass filter and/or the gain stage are also adapted so they can be directly connected. As such, the transceiver front-end can be constructed using all passive components, reducing or eliminating excess heat generation.
