  • Patent number: 9066239
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing spectrum interference between wireless networks. This is realized by arranging at least one sub-coordinating apparatus, namely, a monitoring apparatus, in respective wireless network, and by arranging a coordinating apparatus, namely, an allocation apparatus in the whole network. Wherein, the sub-coordinating apparatus monitors the spectrum utilization situation of the wireless network where it is located, reports it to the coordinating apparatus, and requests the coordinating apparatus for spectrum resource when new spectrum resource is needed. The coordinating apparatus maintains the spectrum utilization information of each wireless network, and allocates appropriate spectrum resource to the sub-coordinating apparatus which requests spectrum resource based on the maintained information.

  • Patent number: 9014758
Abstract: A mobile terminal is disclosed which includes a near field or RF ID tag. The mobile terminal communicates with the mobile telecommunications network and is authenticated with that network using the SIM. The mobile terminal is operable to obtain security data from the user thereof, such as a PIN or biometric data, or the mobile terminal incorporates a sensor such as a light sensor, pressure sensor, heat sensor, skin resistant sensor or inertial sensor. The input device or sensor is used to confirm the identity of the user or to evaluate whether the user wishes to use the near field tag to make a payment or obtain entry to a building. Data from the sensor is passed to the SIM, which issues a command enabling the near field tag, via link. The near field tag may then be read by a reader. The near field tag may be automatically disabled after being read by the reader, after a predetermined time, or when the stimulus to the sensor is no longer present.

  • Patent number: 9002310
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to improved techniques for performing IP2 calibration in receivers having two complementary data paths (e.g., i-data path and q-data path). In these techniques, one of the two data paths (e.g., the i-data path) is used to generate a reference signal for the other data path (e.g., the q-data path), and/or vice versa. The other data path then performs calibration using the reference signal. Compared to previous techniques (which required separate, dedicated circuitry for generating a reference signal), the inventive techniques reduce the amount of circuitry and correspondingly reduce the manufacturing costs and power consumption. This is because the inventive techniques use the existing circuitry in complementary fashion during calibration (e.g., during calibration an i-data path generates a reference signal for a q-data path, and vice versa).

  • Patent number: 8995917
Abstract: A method detects a first baseband signal sent by a first sending station via an air interface to a first radio station of a radio communications system. A first receive signal, which contains the first baseband signal superposed with at least a second baseband signal sent by a second sending station to a second radio station, is received by the first radio station. The first radio station uses at least a second receive signal received by the second radio station for detection of the first baseband signal. The second receive signal contains at least the second baseband signal, and is used to at least partially cancel the interference in the first receive signal caused by the second baseband signal.

  • Patent number: 8983388
Abstract: A first base station communicates (102) with a second base station (wherein an ongoing communication cannot be handed over from the first base station to the second base station and wherein the first and second base station each employ, at least in part, a same set of carrier resources) to prevent interference by usage of the second base station with a user of the first base station. By one approach, this activity can be based, at least in part, upon receipt (101) of a message from an end user platform indicating that a carrier resource that is presently being used by the end user platform is being interfered with by the second base station. By another approach, this activity can take place prior to any actual such interference.

  • Patent number: 8971833
Abstract: Electronic devices such as portable computers may contain circuits that generate radio-frequency noise. The radio-frequency noise may interfere with the operation of sensitive circuitry such as wireless communications circuitry. The circuits that generate the radio-frequency noise may include differential signal drivers that drive signals onto communications lines such as lines in a bus or output interface. A control circuit may power the drivers at an adjustable driver voltage bias level. The amount of noise that is generated by the drivers may vary as a function of the voltage bias level and may produce different amounts of noise at different wireless frequencies. Computer lid position and other factors may also influence the amount of interference that is generated. The control circuit may determine the current operating state of the device and may make voltage bias level adjustments that minimize interference between the drivers and the wireless circuitry.
