  • Patent number: 10979782
Abstract: System and methods for selecting one of the alternative streams of encoded media from a group of alternative streams of encoded media for use during start-up of playback of the encoded media in accordance with embodiments of this invention are disclosed. The systems and methods begin by determining an estimated stability period for a current bandwidth of a communicative connection between the playback device and a remote system providing the alternative streams of encoded. A test process is then performed on the streams of encoded media to select one of streams of encoded media that provides portions of said encoded media such that an underflow condition does not occur during the estimated stability period. The streaming of encoded media is then commenced by requesting the portions of encoded media be transmitted from the remote server using the selected stream.

  • Patent number: 10972574
Abstract: A method for stream-processing biomedical data includes receiving, by a file system on a computing device, a first request for access to at least a first portion of a file stored on a remotely located storage device. The method includes receiving, by the file system, a second request for access to at least a second portion of the file. The method includes determining, by a pre-fetching component executing on the computing device, whether the first request and the second request are associated with a sequential read operation. The method includes automatically retrieving, by the pre-fetching component, a third portion of the requested file, before receiving a third request for access to least the third portion of the file, based on a determination that the first request and the second request are associated with the sequential read operation.

  • Patent number: 10972341
Abstract: Systems and methods for stretching a subnet that do not require level 2 (L2) communications to be handled are provided. A user may gradually migrate VMs or applications instead of migrating an entire subnet at one time, may fail-over specific VMs without failing-over an entire subnet or renumbering IP addresses, may deploy applications to the cloud without the need to create a VPN, or may enable hybrid network connectivity without modifying routes or (re)configuring edge routers, among other benefits. The domains over which the subnet are stretched include a virtual gateway which is associated with the layer-3 (L3) addresses of the other domains. L3 communications within the domain are routed within that domain, and L3 communications within the subnet in another domain are intercepted by the local gateway, are passed to the remote gateway of the other domain, and are forwarded to the destination while leveraging L3 communications.

  • Patent number: 10951485
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for operating a multi-stage artificial intelligence (AI) analysis in a communication network. In use, first log data of network activity of the communication network is acquired based on a first set of monitoring rules. A network situation is detected in log data by an artificial intelligence (AI) system using an AI-model. A confidence level is computed associated with the detection of the network situation. Additionally, it is determined whether the confidence level surpasses a predefined value, and when it is determined that the confidence level does not surpass the predefined value, second log data of the network activity of the communication network is acquired based on an additional set of monitoring rules. Further, the detection of the network situation, the computation of the confidence level, and the determination whether the confidence level surpasses the predefined level are each repeated.

  • Patent number: 10951694
Abstract: A method for repairing multicast/broadcast content via peer to peer communications, which includes receiving at least a part of a file transmitted by a wireless multicast/broadcast service (WMBS) session via an access network; exchanging, via a peer to peer network, completion messages between the UE device and peer UE devices upon completion of the WMBS session; identifying an amount of the file received at the UE device, and amounts of the file received at each of peer UE devices based on the exchanged completion messages; sending repair data to repair the file on each peer UE devices in response to identifying that the UE device received the entire file; and sending repair data via the peer to peer network, obtained from the access network, in response to identifying that the UE device received less than the entire file and more of the file than each of the group of peer UE devices.

  • Patent number: 10924355
Abstract: A change to a state of a particular managed server within an administrative domain is processed. The administrative domain includes a plurality of managed servers that use management instructions to configure management modules so that the configured management modules implement an administrative domain-wide management policy that comprises a set of one or more rules. A first description of the particular managed server is modified to indicate the particular managed server's changed state, thereby specifying a second description of the particular managed server. The unmodified first description is compared to the second description, thereby specifying a description change. A determination is made, based on the description change, regarding whether to update management instructions previously sent to the particular managed server.

  • Patent number: 10917297
Abstract: A service configuration system for an application service can receive network data from computing devices of clients of the application service. The system can determine, from the network data, that a network latency for a subset of the computing devices crosses outside a latency range, and determine whether the subset of computing devices utilize a common network service provider. Based on determining that the subset of computing devices utilize a common network service provider, the system can transmit a set of configuration signals to the subset of computing devices, which modify a set of default application configurations of the designated application to compensate for the network latency.

  • Patent number: 10892961
Abstract: Herein are computerized techniques for autonomous and artificially intelligent administration of a computer cloud health monitoring system. In an embodiment, an orchestration computer automatically detects a current state of network elements of a computer network by processing: a) a network plan that defines a topology of the computer network, and b) performance statistics of the network elements. The network elements include computers that each hosts virtual execution environment(s). Each virtual execution environment hosts analysis logic that transforms raw performance data of a network element into a portion of the performance statistics. For each computer, a configuration specification for each virtual execution environment of the computer is automatically generated based on the network plan and the current state of the computer network. At least one virtual execution environment is automatically tuned and/or re-provisioned based on a generated configuration specification.

  • Patent number: 10867036
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device divides groups of tuples of traffic characteristics of encrypted network traffic into different pairs of the characteristics. Each of the pairs has a corresponding two dimensional (2-D) feature subspace. The device discretizes the 2-D feature subspaces, to form a plurality of bins in each feature subspace. The device assigns the pairs of the traffic characteristics in a particular group of tuples to the bins in the discretized 2-D feature subspaces. The device forms, for each group of tuples, a vector representation of the group of tuples based on the bins in the discretized 2-D feature subspaces to which the pairs of the traffic characteristics from the group are assigned. The vector representations of the groups of tuples are of a fixed dimension. The device uses the vector representations of the groups of tuples to train a machine learning-based traffic classifier.

Abstract: Examples described herein involve expanding playback of a media item from a first playback device to a second playback device. In one example, while a first playback device is playing a media item as part of a first zone, the first playback device identifies that a second playback device has moved to a location that is within a given physical proximity of the first playback. The first playback device determines that playback is to be expanded to the second playback device, and transmits a command to cause the second playback device to (i) join the first zone and (ii) begin to play the media item in synchrony with the first playback device.
