Abstract: The present invention provides polymer microcapsules of biocide, useful for preparing coating materials such as interior and exterior paints, which comprises of an active agent biocide and an encapsulating polymer. Microcapsules described in this invention are prepared by dispersing an organic phase containing an active agent either in dissolved state or dispersed state in a polymer solution using a low boiling point solvent, in an aqueous phase containing an emulsifying agent; agitating the emulsion at 800-1200 resolution per minute for 3-5 hours at 25 -27° C. to evaporate the low boiling point solvent and thus to permit the formation of the microcapsules; separating the microcapsules, washing with water and drying the microcapsules at temperature between 25-35° C.

This phase can also include 70% to 95% by weight of water based on the total weight of the aqueous-gel outer phase, a gelling agent, and an emulsifier having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value of 10 to 19. The water-in-oil inner phase can include 50% to 95% by weight based on the total weight of the three-phase emulsion. This phase can also include 50% to 80% by weight of water based on the total weight of the water-in-oil inner phase, 20% to 50% by weight of oil based on the total weight of the water-in-oil inner phase, and an emulsifier.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of shaving the skin, in particular the facial skin of men, using a composition comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one salicylic acid derivative of formula in which: R represents a linear, branched or cyclic, saturated aliphatic chain containing from 3 to 11 carbon atoms; an unsaturated aliphatic chain containing from 3 to 17 carbon atoms bearing one or more conjugated or nonconjugated double bonds; an aromatic nucleus linked to the carbonyl radical directly or by means of saturated or unsaturated aliphatic chains containing from 2 to 7 carbon atoms; it being possible for said R groups to be substituted with one or more substituents, which may be identical or different, chosen from halogen atoms, a trifluoromethyl group, a hydroxyl group in free form or in a form esterified with an acid containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or else with a carboxyl function, which is free or esterified with a C1-C6 alcohol; R? represents a hydroxyl group or an
Abstract: Provided herein are beads comprising at least one structuring agent and least one powder, and a novel process for making same. In one aspect, the process includes solubilzing at least one structuring agent with a solvent in the presence of at least one powder under turbulent high shear mixing to form small, nonspherical nucleated seeds of about 3 mm or less in diameter, and thereafter allowing the nucleated seeds to accrete under laminar low shear mixing to obtain substantially spherical beads of a desired size.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to oil-in-water emulsion compositions having hydrophobic materials stably dispersed therein and methods for making such. The preferred method of making the emulsion compositions the formation of two O/W emulsions. A first O/W emulsion is for wetting or otherwise pre-treating the hydrophobic components. Thereafter, the first emulsion is added to a second O/W emulsion after the second emulsion has been formed. Both emulsions use a ternary surfactant blend of cationic, anionic and bridging surfactants, making the finished product a double or “binary-CAN” emulsion system. Generally, the system has a bi-modal oil droplet distribution.

Abstract: A biocide is formed by mixing at least one of ammonium sulfamate and ammonium carbamate with an aqueous solution of a hypochlorite oxidant at a molar ratio of ammonium to hypochlorite of at least 1:1. The biocide is useful in treating microbial or biofilm growth, pulp and paper process water, cooling tower water, waste water, reclaimed waste water, sludge, colloidal suspensions, irrigation water or a medium having a reducing capacity.
Abstract: A UV screening composition comprises particles which are capable of absorbing UV light so that electrons and positively charged holes are formed within the particles. The particles are adapted to minimize migration to the surface of the particles of the electrons and/or the positively charged holes when the particles are exposed to UV light in an aqueous environment.
