  • Patent number: 9191684
Abstract: A digital camera includes an image capturing unit, an angular velocity sensor, an image determination unit, and an image composition unit. The angular velocity sensor acquires a displacement amount in a field of view of image data when the image data is captured at predetermined time intervals. The image determination unit sets a determination criterion for determining whether the image data thus captured is to be combined or not based on the displacement amount in the field of view acquired by the angular velocity sensor. Also, the image determination unit determines whether or not the image data thus captured is valid as a composition target based on the determination criterion thus set. The image composition unit combines image data determined by the image determination unit as being valid as a composition target.

Abstract: The present invention can easily acquire images having a uniform aspect ratio. In an imaging device of the invention, a control section detects the movement amount and the movement direction of the imaging device based on output from an acceleration sensor. Then, when the movement direction of the imaging device in its initial movement started at the beginning of imaging is substantially linear and a substantially horizontal or vertical direction, the control section calculates a reference movement amount by which a composite image having a predetermined aspect ratio can be generated, based on the movement amount of the imaging device, and controls the display section to display imaging area information (guide) indicating the final imaging area having the predetermined aspect ratio based on the reference movement amount.

  • Patent number: 9167274
Abstract: Techniques for generating synchronized dictionaries for sparse coding to facilitate encoding of video content are presented. An encoder can generate a dictionary that can be synchronized with a corresponding dictionary maintained by a decoder. The encoder can use the dictionary to facilitate encoding video content, based on sparse coding, for transmission to the decoder. During a video session, the encoder and decoder can signal each other to identify common dictionaries between the encoder and decoder, wherein desired common dictionaries can be used for coding content. During a session, the decoder can dynamically select visual images that can be used to dynamically add new elements to the corresponding dictionary. The decoder can provide identifying information regarding these visual images to the encoder. The encoder can select corresponding visual images to add to its dictionary to maintain the synchronization of these common dictionaries.

  • Patent number: 9143739
Abstract: A method for providing video data for video analytics processing includes capturing a plurality of individual frames of video data, using a video source that is disposed at an acquisition end. A plurality of data-frame-groups is formed, each data-frame-group being associated with a different time period of a plurality of consecutive and non-overlapping time periods. A data-frame-group that is associated with a specific time period comprises individual frames of video data that are captured during that specific time period. Additionally, each data-frame-group comprises relatively fewer individual frames of video data than are captured during the specific time period associated therewith. The plurality of data-frame-groups is transmitted from the acquisition end to a remotely located server via an IP network. In particular, the transmission of successive data-frame-groups is separated one from the other by an interval of time.

  • Patent number: 9129160
Abstract: A vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus detects the presence of a moving object along a vehicle periphery. The apparatus sets multiple detection lines along a horizontal axis of an image captured by a camera, and detects a brightness change of a pixel along the detection lines. With reference to the brightness change detected along the detection line and a parameter for determining whether such brightness change is caused by the moving object, the apparatus determines the presence of the moving object. In addition, the apparatus changes a determination condition for determining the moving object such that as the number of detection lines along which the brightness change is detected decreases, the harder it is to satisfy the determination condition for determining that the moving object is present.
