Abstract: In a general aspect, a method is presented for manufacturing support structures for offshore wind turbines. In some implementations, the method includes constructing a plurality of modular sections that assemble to define the support structure. One or more of the plurality of modular sections are configured to anchor to an underwater floor. At least one of the plurality of modular sections is constructed by operations that include forming a wall along a perimeter to bound a volume, filling the volume with a castable material, and hardening the castable material. In some instances, forming the wall includes depositing layers of printable material successively on top of each other. The method also includes joining the plurality of modular sections to assemble the support structure.
Abstract: Provided is a lateral water intake structure for preventing silting of bed load and floating debris, which is provided at a river bank. The lateral water intake structure includes: a diversion canal, a guiding wall structure, a shaft-shaped water intaking space, and a trash rack. The lateral water intake structure functions to prevent the floating debris from gathering at the surface of the trash rack and reduce a risk that the trash rack is damaged by water pressure and hitting of the floating debris. Meanwhile, by using a water flow in the watercourse to continuously wash the floating debris near the trash rack, maintenance costs of removing the floating debris at the trash rack manually or mechanically can be reduced.

Abstract: A dynamically deployable, low visibility pneumatic cofferdam for flood mitigation is disclosed. The cofferdam includes a first planar component, a second planar component, an inflatable hermetic airbag sandwiched therebetween, and connection members attached to the first planar component, a second planar component to form a cofferdam unit. The connection members are adjustable to apply and maintain a desired amount of pressure on the airbag to enable a watertight seal to be formed. The cofferdam units may be sized and designed to sealingly mate adjacent cofferdam units in a variety of configurations to form watertight seals. The cofferdam units may also be sized and designed to attach to seawalls, flood walls, sidewalks, or other infrastructure. When in a deployed state, the height of the cofferdam may be adjusted to a desired height to provide flood mitigation. When in an undeployed state, the cofferdam remains in a substantially flat and unobtrusive position.

Abstract: A stackable baffle drop shaft unit and method provides a pre-cast body that has a peripheral wall extending thereabout and having a top edge and an opposing bottom edge, the peripheral wall has an exterior facing surface and an opposing interior facing surface, and the body defines a medial channel extending therethrough between the top edge and the bottom edge. A baffle is carried by, and extends inwardly from the interior facing surface and partially across the medial channel defined by the body, and the baffle is positioned between the top edge and the bottom edge. The top edge and the bottom edge of the pre-cast body each define a portion of a positionally securing engagement and alignment means for positional and vertical alignment and stacking of plural units on top of one another. Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include systems and methods to improve downhole drilling. A representative system may include a geostationary portion (e.g. a valve assembly) and a turbine coupled to the geostationary portion to cause counter-rotation of the geostationary portion relative to a drillstring in a default state. A generator that is also operable to act as a motor is coupled to the turbine, and is also coupled to a controller and an energy that may harness any excess energy generated by the turbine when the turbine is able to counter-rotate the geostationary portion at a faster rate than needed to maintain the geostationary portion in a rotationally static condition relative to the wellbore.
Abstract: A method and system for ecological operation of total phosphorus (TP) export of a cascade hydropower station are provided. The method includes: integrating total power generation and TP export of the cascade hydropower station into a single operation objective, and obtaining an operation objective under different weight ratios; optimizing the obtained operation objective; and obtaining a water level operation process corresponding to total power generation and TP export under the current operation objective through the optimized operation objective. The present invention alleviates an ecological and environmental problem caused by the construction of the hydropower station from a water quality mechanism, and can be widely used, for example, in the ecological optimal operation of cascade hydropower stations in a river basin.

Abstract: A foundation pier bracket system provides attachment of a pier shaft with a building or structure foundation such that the system provides securement to competent strata or soil below. The system can include a reinforcing sleeve and a bracket assembly. The bracket assembly can include a shaft receiving portion and a seat portion. The shaft receiving portion can define an aperture that is sized and shaped to receive a portion of the reinforcing sleeve therein. The seat portion can include a plurality of protruding members that protrude upwardly therefrom. The plurality of protruding members can be arranged such that they restrain lateral movement of a beam along the seat portion in at least one axis. The reinforcing sleeve can include a locking wedge that secures the reinforcing sleeve to the bracket assembly. A method of supporting a foundation of a building is also provided.
