  • Patent number: 10182219
Abstract: A transcoder resource retrieves content stored in a repository. The stored content can be encoded in accordance with a first encoding format. The transcoder resource transcodes the retrieved content into a second encoding format. To increase available capacity, the transcoder resource stores the content in the second encoding format as a replacement to the content encoded according to the first encoding format. The second encoding format can support a higher compression ratio than the first encoding format. Additionally, the transcoding can be performed as one of multiple tasks executed in parallel. In such an instance, during parallel processing, a content management resource interleaves execution of the main processing task and the background task of transcoding the content into the second encoding format. The transcoding task can be assigned a lower execution priority than one or more other tasks executed in parallel.

  • Patent number: 10158838
Abstract: Arrangements and methods therein for supporting view synthesis. One method is performed by an arrangement which is operable to receive an input video stream comprising an input view associated with a first camera position. The method includes receiving a measure M_D of a maximum difference in depth or disparity value between two pixels in a depth or disparity map representing the depth or disparity information of a video frame of the input view. The method further includes determining a maximal distance d_cam, from the first camera position to a second camera position, based on the received measure; and indicating the determined distance d_cam to a view synthesizer. This can enable the view synthesizer to synthesize a view associated with a second camera position so that disocclusions due to the distance between the first and second camera position may be handled.

  • Patent number: 10122997
Abstract: Described herein are a system and methods for generating 3D models using imaging data obtained from an array of camera devices. In embodiments, the system may determine a depth or range between an object and the array of camera device. Based on this depth information, the system may automatically identify appropriate framing information for that array of camera devices based on operational constraints. One or more properties of the camera devices in the array of camera devices may then be adjusted in order to obtain image information in accordance with the identified framing information. The object may then be rotated in accordance with the operational constraints and the process may be repeated until a full set of images has been obtained.

  • Patent number: 10110925
Abstract: A method of video coding utilizing ARP (advanced residual prediction) by explicitly signaling the temporal reference picture or deriving the temporal reference picture at the encoder and the decoder using identical process is disclosed. To encode or decode a current block in a current picture from a dependent view, a corresponding block in a reference view corresponding to the current block is determined based on a DV (disparity vector). For the encoder side, the temporal reference picture in the reference view of the corresponding block is explicitly signaled using syntax element(s) in the slice header or derived using an identical process as the decoder. For the decoder side, the temporal reference picture in the reference view of the corresponding block is determined according to the syntax element(s) in the slice header or derived using an identical process as the decoder. The temporal reference picture is then used for ARP.
